Trouble with Windows 8.1

Hi.

I'v been running this game with no issue (Via Steam) for ages now on an old Laptop using Window's 7.

I'v Just updated to a new desktop running Window's 8.1. It's an alienware and came with Steam installed.

I'v downloaded and checked the cache several times but I just cant get it to run.

Every time I try to run the game, it crashes on loading.

Firstly, it doesn't come up with the loading symbol in the bottom corner, just a black screen.
Then, I hear a few second's audio and then my display turns off. (I'm using it with a TV with HDMI rather than a monitor). I can get back with Alt Tab though?

For the record, My display and audio drivers are fully upto date, as is Steam.

Any Idea's please?

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please try starting the game again, and when you see the blank/black screen, please try switching the game to Windowed Mode using the shortcut (Alt+Enter for PC) and see if you are then able to see the game correctly. If so, please then try changing the game's resolution and/or graphics settings to a lower setting, and click Apply. Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.

  • Many, many thanks!

This worked. I'v upped the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and then full screen.

Now runs all the time and with great graphics.

    Mike, you are a star!

Just need to get the rest of my blasted games working!
