All four save slots are blank but choice.prop file shows decisions

I was in the middle of playing episode 3 a couple of weeks ago, and finally was going to get back to it last night, but when I loaded GoT all my save files were showing as blank. I found the Telltale folder on my tablet (Samsung Tab S 8.4) and it looks like at least my choice.prop file is intact. Is there any way to recover the save files? What is the difference between the saveslot files and the session files? I can upload the files if necessary.

My apologies, could you please clarify how many save slots you were using in-game when this issue arose for you? Also, had you recently updated the game to the latest version, or do your have your game app updates set to automatically update? Also, the saveslot files are what your save games are stored in. Your session files are data that does not pertain to your save files.

  • I had used all four slots already. I first installed the game (ep 1) early in June and added the season pass about 2 days later, so it doesn't look like there would have been any updates since then. I'm not sure if it is set to auto update or not. Play.google.com says the current version is from May 27, 2015.

Are you currently playing the game while connected to a WiFi network connection? Our game also updates internally with our servers when you start it while connected to the internet.

  • Yes, I am connected to WiFi. And I have not tried actually playing again in case my saves are at all recoverable.

My apologies, unfortunately if you are not seeing your save files in-game on your android device, they are unfortunately lost, and cannot be recovered. I sincerely apologize for any difficulties this has caused you.

  • It would be really nice to know why this may have happened before I start over from the beginning again. And is there a way to back up the files, in the future? Also it seems as if you could have told me this back on July 6... Led me to believe that there was a chance the saves were still there based on your questions.

My apologies, we have had some reports of players playing offline that just had to be connected to the internet when starting the game in order for them to see/use their save files again. Unfortunately if your game is updated, and you are playing while connected to the internet, it sounds as though your save files may have become corrupted. This can happen if the game were ever to be closed/exited/crash during an autosaving or loading sequence.

Unfortunately the save files are stored internally within the game application, and cannot be backed up to a secondary location, as doing so may cause the files to become corrupt.
