Fables 150 draws closer, and my fear returns...

So as the end of the Fables comics draws ever closer, with an expected release date on Wednesday next week (July 22nd) I have been skimming through previous Volumes of Fables... and my hype from months ago has now returned! Along with the fear.

I purchased Volume 21 only 4-5 days ago, and re-reading it has ruined my hopes of a true happily ever after for Bigby Wolf and Snow White.

In the war with Snow and Rose, they both have their eyes set on different goals: Rose is preparing to kill Snow and be the surviving sister, she has it all planned out. She will use Bigby to get close to Snow, then he will kill her and become Rose's lover...

Snow however, doesn't believe that her war with Rose is anything to worry about. She is focused on getting Bigby back to normal, even after all he has done, she still wants him back with her and their Cubs. Winter is the one who has amassed an army behind her Mother's back...

So now the fear sets in. We leave off of Volume 21 with Wolf Manor in ruins and Bigby/the Cubs nowhere to be seen, Snow is calling out to them hoping they're all alive and ok. We can only assume that Bigby has gone home... So what could this mean for the last Volume??

I hope that Rose dies and Snow lives, but this is Fables, and in the end it could be Snow who dies, and Rose that lives :/

What do you all think will happen to our beloved Wolf Family in the finale of Fables?

  • I recall that Bill said the final volume will bring us back to "there are no happily ever afters" so honestly I think (fear) Snow will die and maybe it's this heartbreak that will free Bigby from the ring. Rose will probably also die out of his fury and the battle will fall apart after that. I don't imagine any more of the Wolf Cubs dying as they still have their prophecies to fulfill but I don't see Bigby being able to raise them alone. Also I don't see him being allowed back into the Fables community as there'll be too much resentment and also now that the humans know about the Fables they might try force them to turn Bigby over to their custody. I'm just stating my ideas as they come in so some could be very flawed :P oh and I get the feeling all the Fables are going to return to the Homelands as it's just too dangerous now that the humans know about them (e.g. might want to experiment, use magic in warfare etc.?

  • It's a real shit show isn't it...

  • I really hope I'm wrong but I also have the feeling that Snow will die. It's been a long time since I last read the comics so I don't remember everything from the story but isn't Snow supposed to die because of a blade piercing her heart ?

  • That little issue got solved in one of the Fairest Volumes thank God :P

But she could still die again :'(

  • I get the strong feeling that both Rose and Snow will kick the bucket so the ending is a bittersweet one, in the sense that Bigby and the Cubs will make it through to the end alive.

God I hope not. The prophecy dictates that one will live, and Snow's Fate has already been achieved...

Rose has 2 outcomes to her Fate: She either kills them both and rules mercilessly, or she dies doing good deeds and feeling at peace with herself.

I want BigbyxSnow one last time :'(

    How dare you >:(

  • I am really afraid for a idiot end like ''IS ALL A DREAM, NEVER HAPPENED''.... Or something worst, like a total brutal bad ending ;-;

  • Oh God those endings are so horrible!!! They did that for a TV Series once, I THINK it was called Dallas.

After everything, the finale of the series revealed it was all the main character's day-dream while he was showering or something like that...

  • It could go either way, but such a scenario, when looked at with the reasoning you have provided, is not seeming far fetched.

  • Bill is the writer so he knows what is best...

Rose dying and Snow living will be my prayers answered!

Snow dying and Rose living will be a very tearful ending for me :'(

Both sisters dying would be a serious WTF moment :/

Both sisters living would be... nice I guess? But I doubt that highly.

  • I share the same thinking in that respect.

  • Has anyone read the Unwritten? They've a crosspver with Fables where things are seriously fucked up (Snow is with Mr. Dark). Now I could be wrong but i think they said they wanted the end of fables to link in with that? :/

  • Wrong. The Unwritten Fables crossover is canon ONLY to The Unwritten series of comics.

It is completely non-canon to Fables, for a start there are too many character deaths and resurrections for it to be any form of canon :P

  • Oh thank god, I was extremely worried! :P While i thought the crossover was great I just didn't want it to happen to our real Fables! :P

I bet the last four page foldout put an end to that ; ) I was so happy, yet sad to let go. I also laughed so hard when I realized there would be no battle.

  • Well there is plenty of room for more should Bill decide to return :)

  • I have read all the Fairest volumes and still dont know how this Brandish sword story got solved. Would be really nice if you could tell me that, maybe I just misunderstood something.

  • Brandish had some magic that everything that would happen to him would happen to Snow. And Snow impaled Brandish with her sword. The witches said something about that they delayed the effect, but that it someday will happen to Snow. Maybe this happens in "Fairest in all the lands"? You told me that this Briar/Goldilocks event is taking place there, maybe this event too?
