Should I watch the show?

I've played GOT and found it very good and okay with me (I had some problems sleeping when I played the wights scene at night though.) So, should I watch the show? Is it appropriate for me? I am 13. I've played through all of TT's games, and none really bothered me, so am I supposed to watch GOT or should I wait till I get older?

  • I wouldn't recommend a show like GOT to a thirteen year old.

I mean, is the violence/blood/sex/language similar to the game? if it is, I'll watch it. if it's more intense, I don't think my parents would allow me.

  • Lmao So don't watch the show if you're 13.

  • Lol, okay. So the show has much more violence etc than the game.

  • I was going to say absolutely watch the show when I just saw the title of your post (because it is simply amazing) but now that I see your 13 I agree with everyone else that you should wait a bit to watch because it does have a lot more violence and sex and relatively the same amount (if not a little more) language than the video game
  • Well, if you feel that you can't really handle the extreme gore, nudity and sex (makes me kinda cringe when I type it or say it), I wouldn't really recommend you watch the show. But if you can really handle that, then it's your decision. ;p

I'm 14 and I watch the show and I also read the books, but everyone is different with what they can handle. I don't mind the violence and nudity, the story is way too god for me to care lol :) But if you feel like you can't handle violence/nudity then the show isn't for you I guess
  • Yeah, S1 and S2 are kinda boring but in S3, it actually gets better :)

  • And then season 5 which only had a few good episodes in my opinion :(

  • Yeah, they kinda messed up in S5 and it's my least favorite season in the entire series. The whole Dorne thing was horrible.

Even Jon Snow's death didn't make the season better but Shireen's death did. Kinda...

And then season 5 which only had a few good episodes in my opinion

  • At first, I felt just as you did that Season 1 was a bit slow (even though I still loved it because the characters were amazing and the foundation was being laid) but now going back and watching old episodes having watched everything Season 1 is so much better than I originally thought because I'm seeing things that are now evident from knowing what I know now. Season 2 is majorly slow at times (even though it is my favorite season for Tyrion) and is my least favorite out of the 5. Season 3 is also slow for the first half but the second half is exciting. Absolutely loved season 4 (my favorite season out of the 5) and season 5 was actually pretty good in my opinion (minus the Dorne stuff and the majority of the Bravos stuff except for the last episode) and was my second favorite season of them all.

  • Never have I come into a thread prepared with such a definitive answer (omg of course YES everyone should) and then changed my mind so fast after reading the details (wait no, no you shouldn't).

  • haha that's exactly what my reaction was lol - glad to see others are as enthusiastic about the show on this forum as i am (because the show seems to get quite a bit of hate on here)

  • Yea I can't handle the sex scenes in the show so I don't watch it.

  • I would not recommend watching the show if you are only thirteen, but I definitely recommend you read the books if you like the series but feel the nudity/violence/sex would be too much in the show. A lot of that is still there in the books, however, but it is easier to manage when you don't actually see it happening, at least for me.
  • Well scenes in got series can be realy violent at times so i suggest reading a book. I ve finished first 4 books and they are great!

  • No it's the sex that you shouldn't watch. It won't really make sense for you (maybe, you could be a genius and you see past it) and it will take away from the storyline/plot instead of enriching it

Lol, okay. So the show has much more violence etc than the game.

  • Season 1 and 2 weren't that slow for me, but then again I never read the books and I just came from watching TWD. Season 3 and 4 were epic, and then season 5 left much to be desired for me (Especially since I'm a Stannis and Jon fanatic).

  • Tbh, it really isn't going to hurt anyone if you watch it. Just ask your parents, if they say 'yeah sure' then go ahead. You might not understand alot of whats going on but it's because you're young, we were all that way once.
  • Yeah, S5 was the weakest season in the entire series. Mostly cause of the Dorne thing for me.

  • The show is boring, and overrated, its so slow with no action, why would someone watch

    Ew

  • Each to there own. I think seasons 1-4 are completely gripping, season 5 is the only lackluster season IMO.

  • The highlight of Dorne was Bronns singing :p

Would I be correct in assuming you're one of those people that think Breaking Bad is absolutely flawless?

  • those two don't need to be mutually exclusive. i absolutely love breaking bad as well - actually watching old reruns of the show on amc as i'm typing this - probably my second favorite show (my first favorite being got)

Would I be correct in assuming you're one of those people that think Breaking Bad is absolutely flawless?

  • Thirteen is definitely old enough to have some measure of autonomy. If you feel it's something you can handle I say go for watching the show but know that there's a lotttt of violence and sex and language, like the others said, a ton more than in the video game. I think you're old enough to decide that for yourself. I have a son and I'd be fine with him watching GoT when he's 13 if he wants to see it.

  • No, ew

Would I be correct in assuming you're one of those people that think Breaking Bad is absolutely flawless?

  • I'd honestly say there is more sex in the books :D

  • I politely disagree, but whatever floats your boat.

  • But it is easier to skip sex scenes while reading, then while watching the show, because even if you can fastforward, you will still see glimpses of the scene. When you're reading and think a sex scene is coming, you can just skip to the next page, or to the end of that paragraph.

I'd honestly say there is more sex in the books

  • More like it had one good scene.

And then season 5 which only had a few good episodes in my opinion

  • Lol at all the circle jerking about s5 being bad. Best year for Jon, best year for Dany since season 1, best for Stannis since season 2, Cersei had a great arc, there was Harhome which is easily top 3 episode of the whole show, etc.

What was bad about it? Dorne? Yeah, well it took probably 30 mins of the 10 hour season. Personally I'd put both seasons 2 and 3 beneath season 5. I'm sick of people saying "They messed up season 5" and then the only argument they give is "Dorne". Oh, and some complain about Sansa's arc, but I just disagree with their idea that Sansa should have suddenly transformed into a huge player who can manipulate everyone - and I also disagree with her not having developed at all, I think there were clear signs of her character development this season.

If your standards are so high that you can't enjoy s5, I really don't understand how can you enjoy this game...
