tbh, they're probably going through a lot more oversight from HBO and the guys who make sure the game gels with the show than they had to for TWD, especially because they were going through the comics more than the show. Plus there's also the hassle of getting the actors from the show to do their requisite lines in the game, which tacked onto dev time makes for a longer cycle per episode.
