How is a second season even possible?

WIth so many possible endings and almost every character with a determinant death? unless the second season doesnt involve the Forresters but a new family and characters from s1 only make cameo appearences if they were not killed.

Comments

  • They could make a canon ending (which would suck) or have us play as different people who interact once in a while with the remaining Forresters.

  • I can still see the season revolving around the Forresters. Without Mira as a playable character but Gared and the lord of Ironrath showing up as playable characters on the menu screen, the real challenge will be changing dialogue for Rodrik and Asher assuming they don't kill them off. I don't see why they would give us an open ended finale setting up Ryon and the North Grove without a plan in mind for them.

This is a large project for telltale if they continue with the Forrester sorry, but not impossible, i'm excited to see if they can pull all the branching endings off and really make choices matter.

  • Stop making so many threads. Holy Shit!

  • They could do it the same way they did this one. It revolves around several different characters, only each story arc is basically the same whether you are playing as Rodrik or Asher. Basically, make character place holders and fill that in with whoever is alive from that play through. For example, Character X wakes up in a cottage with his wounds bandaged and Character Z is tending to him. X and Z later travel to White Harbor seeking aid. The place of X is filled by whoever is alive in your playthrough either Rodrik or Asher while Z is filled by Talia or Gwyn. It doesn't matter who since both characters serve the same function.

Later Lord Morgryn arrives in Ironrath to claim his new home. He is accompanied by his wife. His wife is a new person or Mira but both characters play in much the same way aside from a few dialogue options. They could probably get away with the same voice actor for both.

  • Anything can be kil- er... anything is possible!

  • You know if Telltale is actually willing to push through conventional boundaries and literally be the first ever game studio to cater individually for each and every different outcome available in Episode 6, then I'm beyond impressed. Maybe they'll show us how they handle multiple endings with TWD S3.

I doubt they'd have the Second Season revolve around another family, since they haven't resolved the fate of House Forrester. The only possible exception to this would be if they had you play the Whitehills in Season 2, since there is still a few Whitehill sons that haven't appeared yet. I don't think they'll go that route, but it would be an interesting choice to have Rodrik or Asher as Season 2's antagonist, with some player Whitehills (who could potentially be more honorable than Gryff or Ludd) trying to save their house against resurgent Forresters and fickle Ramsay and his 20 good men. Gwyn of course would be an obvious choice for the one of the playable characters if you're the Whitehills.

I'd bet however on Season 2 still being played from the Forrester point of view. Determinant characters would be out as player characters of course, but there are still a few Forresters or Forrester-aligned characters who don't have determinant fates. The Maester, Uncle Malcolm, Talia, and Gared are all still alive in all playthroughs. A fifth player character could be Beshka, or they could always introduce a new character who is a Forrester. Cousin-such-and-such from Somewhere Knoll...

Or they could have one of the two Forrester bastards up at the North Grove be playable. The Warg would be my choice, just because it would be so different from the rest. You'd spent parts of the game in control of a Polar Bear.

  • I have the feeling Telltale will become new Valve, none of their game will have more than 2 season TT

It is possible, if perhaps somewhat challanging.

Even without going into possible determinans characters, we can still have a good variety of PoV's. Gared and the North Grove bastards. Beshka and Ryon. Malcolm in Essos. Even Talia could become a player character. I think those alone can make an interesting story.

As for determinants: Asher\Rodrik could still be a main\major character, along with Sentinel\Traitor as their main advisor (with some guilt and redemption throw in for the Traitor). Have them go through the same story line, but with different dialogues and perhaps throw in some 'Brother Exclusive' content every now and then.

The Whilehills would still be main antagonists. If Ludd's dead, then Torrhen is now the head of the House, with Gryff as second-in-command. If Gryff's the one who died, Torrhen becomes Ludd's second-in-command. Gwyn could be either an enemy or ally to Forresters based on decisions.

Gared and the North Grove could follow it's own story line, regardless of our choice in the finale. As in 'Oh shit! Something happened and we must now abandon our previous decision of helping Forresters\protecting North Grove to the other one, or something else entirely!' kind of way.

Mira however, I don't really see as being either playable or even a major character, as even in her 'alive' state she won't be able to contribute much to the story. But hey! Maybe I'm wrong on this one!

So, all in all, I think 'Forresters as protagonists of Season 2' is still very much a possibility.

  • And the canon ending it is :/

They could make a canon ending (which would suck) or have us play as different people who interact once in a while with the remaining Forresters.

  • I could very well see Mira becoming the Arya of the Forresters, she could have a choice to kill Morgryn or not. and then has to go on the run, her role in the season just has her going from place to place, doing what she can to raise awareness for the forresters or something.

My guess is they have a new villain planned that we have to kill when we're done with the last surviving lord of the whitehills

  • I think Telltale will just have us play as different characters so that they don't have to create completely different games for each determinant character. This way, you'll most likely only hear about your previous choices or get occasional scenes with determinant characters instead of seeing them all the time.

  • There is not much that is different in terms of story telling

Rodrik or Asher is always alive and will now have the same role

Duncan or Royland is always alive and will likely have the same role

Gwyn and Gared will likely get put on the track of whatever there new role is

Ludd or Gryff is alive and will likely play the same role

Mira is the only real difference and she didnt influence the other stories anyway

Even if the gameends up the same way, I'm still excited

  • The only thing TT will struggle with is the Royland/Duncan/Gwyn scenario but Mira is gone guys, for ever it's time to face facts and move on.

  • Stop being dramatic for God's sake

  • Nope. One of them always survives. They're just not shown on screen if you get Gwyn with you at the end. Or at least I think so.

Asking someone to stop being dramatic on the telltale forums? Thats nigh impossible :P

  • Plus Sam & Max had 3 seasons.

TWD S3 has already been announced and is in development.

  • Having just finished the 2 playthroughs, I'd say they have the similar challenge they would have for TWD season 3 (with that game having so many different endings).

I'd guess the storyline from the different endings would need to converge at some point, but where, would be the tricky part (for these two games).

Here is the the result all of us have:

    1. Rodrik/Asher lives.
    2. Royland/Duncan/Gwyn with you and Talia at the end
    3. Mira died/End up in a sex slave chamber somewhere
    4. Ryon + Beksha live
    5. Malcolm stay and be advisor for Daenerys
    6. Gared and 2 Forrester's bastard live

Imo here is the way the next season will be:

    1. About Rodrik/Asher, their role are same, so they will have the same adventure with the same outcome, of course there will be difference, but not too much.
    2. About Royland/Duncan, no matter who with you, they will die at the very beginning of the first episode. The reason is for protecting you from an Whitehill's ambush, or whatever reason Telltale can imagine. About Gwyn, she's a b**** in my book, so let's Telltale decide what to do with her.
    3. About Mira, there will be an episode allow Rodrik/Asher find out what Morgryn done, and another episode allow them confront Morgryn's hideout. If Mira still lives, we will found her be locked in a room and turning dementia.
    4. About Ryon and Beksha, their role remind me about Rickon + Osha, so there is not much to say. If we meet them, I think we will see some scene like Ryon's sword training, avoid Whitehill's soldiers or Ramsay ... If they will meet any characters in season 1, I bet It will be Eleana or Gwyn, or Rodrik/Asher in the last episode, to hear their final word before they die, If Telltale want to bring to us another cliffhanger for season 3 :D
    5. Malcolm was in Essos, so let him be :D
    6. About Gared and Elsera+Ysera, no matter you choose to leave/stay North Grove, you will have a fight with White Walkers and forced to comeback the North Grove If you leave or Ironrath If you stay (That's depend on which direction Telltale want WW appear). There will be a moment you have to choose who you will save, Ysera/Josera or Sylvi. If you performed the ritual blood in season 1 last episode, whom you choose to abandoned will be saved by a warrior, but he/she will be fell to a deep, leaving his/her fate unknown. If you do not performed the ritual blood, the one you abandoned will be killed by a WW.

That's the way to combine all endings to 1 new begin for Season 2, just my guess :D

Sorry for my bad English !

  • Those are some great thoughts on the subject of next season. I also think, while difficult with all the branching, it's possible - and no doubt Telltale knew already how they will move on before even making the final episode of season 1, and all has been thought through. I don't think they're banging their heads against the wall, regretting to have announced season 2 without a clue as to how to proceed. I'm okay with anything as long as we continue to play on Forresters side, utilizing the North Grove bastards as two new POV characters, possibly playing both if their path separates at some point or we play the surviving one if we have to make a choice who'll live. I love the game so much, it's with TWD2 my favorite ever! And Mira was one of my favorite characters - I'm still devastated about her death. I'm still hoping it was some kind of charade played by whoever wants to help her, and she isn't really dead. Just in case though I'll make another game path where I'll sacrifice Tom so that I get to play with her next season for a little while, even if it's just to kill Whatshisname in the wedding night.

Here is the the result all of us have: * Rodrik/Asher lives. * Royland/Duncan/Gwyn with you and Talia at the end * Mira died/End up i

  • I think they've already banged their head against the wall with TWD3 !!!
It will be a lot of disappointment If we play TWD3 with a mature Clementine !!!
    Hope I'm wrong :D

  • any possibilty of season 2 being released next year ? that final maked me wanted to play more to know what the future holds and what's going to be the playable characters or new house .. though i was very frustrating with the end results.

  • I think losing Mira as a playable is so they can just spend more time on on have two determinate protagonists witch I am ok with

  • Maybe we're gonna be teenage Alvin lol
