Gared reacting to Duncan's possible death
In episode 5 if Duncan is the traitor you have the choice to spare or kill him. If you choose the latter Duncan obviously dies, at the end of episode 5 we have Rodrik/Asher. So if Rodrik kills traitor Duncan and Asher holds the wheel, and if Gared goes south and finds Talia, Royland and Rodrik. How will Gared react to the news? Will he understand or will he take revenge? Or what if you imprison traitor Royland? Duncan will die at the battle of Ironrath, if Gared marches home with Rodrik/Asher's bastard brother and sister how do you think he handle it?

I killed traitor-Duncan, had Asher stay behind, and chose for Gared to march south... so this scenario is certainly one I've been interested in for a while.
I imagine, they'll do it one of two ways. Either we'll play as Gared, and get to choose his reaction. Or we'll play as Rodrik, and get to choose how he tells Gared. Something like:
I'd personally pick the option:
[Execute Gared for desertion]
If Gared were to find out about Duncan, I think it'd make the most sense to see his head on a spike at Ironrath.

I love you LordGoss!
Well.... my Duncan served loyally right until the end - killed by traitorous Whitehall soldiers covering Rodrik's escape from Ironrath - he was a man of peace, no fool but certainly no coward. He was more than willing to fight and die for House Forrester... I'm pretty annoyed he's dead actually because now I'm stuck with Royland (who claimed he hated my guts and disagreed with all my decisions in ep 5) plus in my OTHER game I executed Duncan so I've got Royland twice. There are no words.
I'd have to tell Gared that Duncan was my most trusted advisor, my sentinel and my right hand. He fought and died as he had lived: with honour, bravery and cunning. R.I.P. Duncan Tuttle, Last of his name, Sentinel of House Forrester, Castellan of Ironrath - Duncan the Wise.
Hear, hear!
If they put Asher's head on one, I don't doubt they'd do the same to Duncan.
Is there really any confirmation that who you chose as Sentinel is dead? Yeah we see them get swarmed and surrounded, but we don't see them get skewered IIRC. It's possible that they were taken as a political prisoner (Elaena Glenmore was after all).
If you double cross Gwen and kill the traitor then your Sentinel lives and along with Talia, finds Rodrick/Asher. If not then yes, they're dead, says so in the Codex if I'm right.
Oh I know all of that, how the Sentinel can find you in either the traitor's place or Gwyn's. I just mean that it's a bit premature to assume that Duncan the Sentinel is dead when we don't see his fate made clear in those other playthroughs where he's not the one with Talia. Surrounded yes, but as of right now the last thing we know of him is that he was alive.
I don't believe the codex updates, as it just gives you basic information on House Forrester, but I could be wrong. Though I can't see how it could say Duncan's dead since it would happen in the last moments of the game and at that point there's no gameplay left.
You do make a good point. Ensue obligatory lucky joke.
Duncan: "I got lucky Gared. Real lucky."
That's unnecesary
Why? What's wrong with following the law and punishing dishonorable deserters? It's literally the law.
It's a possibility. The codex lied to us before (Rodrik's death).
The codex didn't say he was dead, it said that Rodrik was presumed dead
I think it did and they patched it. I'm pretty sure that I read that Rodrik dies at the twins...
fuk the police
Nope.
