I ask why the fuck was Anita Sarkeesian in the credits' SPECIAL THANKS TO
The makers of this game (incidentally the makers of The Wa… morelking Dead, Season 1) also have a podcast called IdleThumbs. There's a really great episode with Anita Sarkeesian as a special guest, and if you've read the Campo Santo newsletter, well... you may understand (though with your mindset, probably not approve).
To gamers with a basic grasp of sociology, narratology, ludology and adjacent soft sciences, i.e. to the people who actually understand what Anita Sarkeesian is doing (or at least try), she's a very likable person, I assure you that.
So the answer to your question is, of course, why the fuck not?
I watched a playthrough and I was impressed by the story. I do agree the ending could've been handled better because the twist feels a little lackluster after all this build up with all the mysteries going on. I remember thinking perhaps Delilah was really Henry's wife or wasn't really there and was just a voice in his head he was talking to through on the walkie-talkie, that or maybe Henry might be a patient and Delilah was the doctor keeping an eye on him in some experiment like in Shutter Island. It could've been aliens and I'd of settled for that lol.
But yeah I enjoyed following it, and it's definitely a game I'll pick up sometime once there's a price drop. The conversations between Henry and Delilah were really fun to listen to, but I can't help thinking perhaps Delilah knew more than she was letting on and that perhaps she knew Ned was out there but wasn't aware he'd been listening to her and Henry's conversations. The way they handled Brian's death was really well done, if a scary realism to it. There was something eerie about going down in that cave all alone, hearing nothing but the wind blowing through, and you just see this shoe down one of the cavern areas you can't reach. Before it was even revealed Brian died down there, I just knew somebody had fallen and that there was probably a dead body down at the bottom. It made me think of the Paris Catacombs how there was somebody who became lost and died down there and their body wasn't found for years.
Definitely a good game though, just a shame the ending couldn't be better but, I'm really itching to play it and hope they do more games like it in the future.
You're saying people came here because action of season 1 was placed in Kirkman's universe?
Oh, yes, absolutely, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's basically marketing, and it's basically Telltale's very successful strategy.
I guess that Jake and Sean left TTG because they wanted to change exactly that, tell their own stories in their own worlds with their own characters. Telltale often tells their own stories with their own characters... but not in their own worlds.
You're saying people came here because action of season 1 was placed in Kirkman's universe?
Not me. I don't like the show, haven't read t… morehe comics before. In my opinion game won thanks to great story and characters. Replace zombies with deadly virus and it's still good.
Most of Telltale's current fan base did come here because of the brand name recognition of The Walking Dead. Had it not been set in The Walking Dead universe, Telltale's game wouldn't have been a multi-million dollar franchise, as Telltale wasn't known to very many people outside of the fans of their puzzle adventure games and those who were fans of the other big name franchises that Telltale picked up (like Back to the Future, for instance).
They also didn't have the benefit of a well known publisher behind them (like Life is Strange has with Square Enix), so it's unlikely that The Walking Dead: Season One would have been more of a blip on the radar of the gaming community had it not been attached to a well known franchise. They had problems in the past getting people to buy games, even though they were quite good games, and even with brand name recognition, such as Wallace & Gromit. And their early games with lesser known brand name recognition, such as Bone, had an even harder time.
Things are different now though. Telltale does have a chance to make a good deal of money from lesser known franchises, and from original properties, now that they have an established fanbase from the bigger franchises. The Wolf Among Us did well, despite being about as well known as Bone prior to the game, because of the established fanbase. Telltale's first original property (not counting Telltale Texas Hold'em), their Super Show concept, will probably do well due to that established fanbase as well.
Right now, Campo Santo has around 10 employees, so they can afford to do original games like Firewatch (Telltale did a completely original game with an original setting when they were that small as well, the aforementioned Telltale Texas Hold'em). Telltale has around 300 employees right now, however, so they're smartly sticking with the big name licenses that have worked for them and allowed them to steadily grow every year since they were founded back in 2004.
Telltale's large size is finally allowing them to experiment with original ideas though, it seems (since they'll most likely be able to make a good deal of money due to their large established fanbase, general recognition of the Telltale brand name, and the willingness of the press to cover everything they release in minute detail, which are all things that they lacked prior to the release of The Walking Dead in 2012). Hopefully their super show does well enough to allow them to have more games with original characters and settings in the future as well.

Hahahaha... thanks I needed a laugh.
Good joke, good joke...
what are you on about, i could object, the whole last part of the game i was explaining to delila how i (henry) don't want to go back to his wife, she disagreed, but i don't think my henry would have gone back to her.
are you just mad delila basically rejected henry, because i don't really think they were ever in love or anything, just a bit of fun to keep the days interesting.
This game has a lot of great moments but I completed it in under 4 hours and that was without rushing it. The ending was a serious anticlimax and was really weak. The game ends abruptly and is very linear, the choices you make in this game does not matter in the end. There was no character development in this game and the big mystery turns out to be a case of complete rubbish. I have been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced and really wanted to love it but the story did not live up to my expectations. This game had potential to be so much more imo.
I agree it had potential to be more. The beginning and halfway through the game was interesting. Getting past the fence and finding the monitoring site was awesome. Like Henry discovered some government psychological test and Delilah was possibly in on it.
But no. The whole thing about Ned and Brian just changed everything.

I was disappointed the moment Delilah informed me that the two missing girls wasn't really missing and that they had been found, in the game trailer Campo Santo made a big deal about the missing girls.

I just bought it and played it a bit. I've gotta say, it's absolutely fantastic. The story is amazing, the game looks stunning, the voice acting is astounding, and it's all around awesome. I honestly have no idea what anyone's beef with the game is, people keep complaining about it being too short, but so are a ton of other games that people love dearly. This game is amazing, and while I see some flaws, I have no idea what everybody is talking about. Honestly, it's better than most of the crappy Triple A games out there, and it's already a top contender for the top of my personal Top 10 favorite games of 2016, and I have a feeling it will stay a contender. (At least until Outlast 2 comes out and if better than every game ever)

$20 for a 4 hour- 6 hour game that has little gameplay and is focused primarily on story and if the story doesn't quite work, then....you get a negative reaction. I like Firewatch myself quite a lot but it could have been so much more and gone further with some of its mechanics as well as having a bit more variety in its scenarios.

I'd say get it. Maybe not right now, at 20$, but you should check it out at some point. I haven't finished it yet, but I think I'm kinda close though (I've played for just over 4 hours now... I think the end is nigh). It isn't really what I wanted out of this game, but it is still good. The voice acting is nice, it looks pretty, there's a good story and a backstory... It does do some big time skips sometimes (day3 - day15), which kind of annoyed me, but I can live with it.
Also, get it on the PC. I have it on Ps4 and it does have some technical problems, they will fix it they said, but who knows when? And... yeah. That is all I can say about it from the top of my head. Get it on sale.
You know, if I had not studied literature, if I didn't have a connection to and an understanding of what she does, and why she does it, I may have taken a dislike to Anita Sarkeesian. After all, I've initially been rather sceptical, back then, after Damsel in Distress Part 1. But even then, I would have switched sides immediately seeing the asshole trolling brigade at constant work. And the sheer illiteracy people desperately preserve for themselves just to keep up with the trolling, thinking they'll save video games... my breath has long since been taken.
I ask why the fuck was Anita Sarkeesian in the credits' SPECIAL THANKS TO and I get banned
Are you sure you specifically asked that … morequestion, and didn't do something stupid, like go on some snarky tirade against the game and possibly the developers, and end up looking like a gigantic asshole
Because something tells me that there's a chance that's the case
I'm still kind of disappointed we never got to see Delilah, they could at least have shown a picture of her in her tower. I also wish they would have written what happened to Henry and Delilah after the ending.
The truth is we probably never see Delilah because budget constraints more than because the story demanded it. The only other human character you see up close is the helicopter guy, right? There's the girls, but they're far, far away and the shadowy figure with the flashlight and that's about it I believe.
I think they could have given the player a glimpse of Delilah at least, like in the photos or you see her leaving in the helicopter or something... I understand maybve they were trying to leave it to your imagination and don't be let down when you actually met her, but still the real reason is probably budget limits.
Apart from the ending being a complete letdown, my only real complaint is that the time jumps were quite distracting as the game progressed. Like it started day 1, 2, 3 and so on and suddenly DAY 30, and... wha? I don't think they needed that much time to pass, maybe Henry's watch is two or three weeks at most. I dunno, I'm just riffing here, Trench out.
Just finished the game and wow what a fantastic game. I love this game. I've heard some people complain about the ending being unsatisfying, but I think that was the point. Everything in the game was built up to be something larger than it was, but ultimately it ends in a very real, grounded manner, including Henry's relationship with Delilah. I love Delilah....If there's a sequel or DLC I hope she's in it.... I'm gonna miss her.

Overall, I think this is a very strong start from Campo Santo and I look forward to any new work they produce in the future.

For anyone wondering what the tune the naked girls were playing in Firewatch it was "Push Play" by Cheap Talk
enter link description here
Campo Santo have posted the soundtrack to youtube is anyone wants to listen.

Oh God no.
Ugh... why...?
I'll tell you what...This game's not worth 20 euros.
Why didn't they make a game that's JUST with beautiful graphics, instead of making it all half-assed with the gameplay, the story...
I'm more frustrated how the game forces you to go to your wife... We couldn't object or anything...
Hahahaha... thanks I needed a laugh.
Good joke, good joke...

Excellent argument well supported.
I was typing how it was a good & funny jOkE... where did you see the argument in that
Nikki Rapp voices a character called Lilly. I thought this was a nice easter egg.

yeah, i wonder if in the writer's mind they are the same person, i think the time setting is 15 years apart so it is possible it could work

That's a good point.

Wow this thread died quickly after the game got released.
this game and its characters have stolen my heart
Nice drawings, it really does kind of bothers me that we never got to see how Delilah looked like.
The game also has some plotholes, for one, we never got to know who Delilah was talking to on day 2

Ive heard some glowing praise for this game. I want to try it but after the price come down a bit.
