A Show Character They Could Have Done Without.

Does anyone feel a certain character from the show wasn't exactly needed in the game? I'm not talking about who you least dislike, more about who was least relevant to a POV Character's plot line. I didn't see why Jon was in the game, honestly. I get he's a fan favorite and someone had to have told Jon about the Red Wedding (the show shows very little detail of how he felt). I guess he tells Gared some basics but that's really it. Every other show character seemed to have some purpose he just seemed like the oddball of the bunch. Any ideas on who mattered the least

  • Dany and Jon were not really needed at all, they were just some nice cameos

Tyrion and Ramsey were fine but I felt they were overdone a bit, Ramsey in episode 1 and Tyrion episode 1-3 were fine however them coming back episode 4 onwards felt a bit much.

Cersei and Margery were fine, Mira was her handmaiden so it makes sense that they would be interested in her.

Thats why im kind of dissapointed about Mira, she was the one who could have felt involved in the main plotline more naturally than the others.

Jon, while I love his character in the show, felt the least needed in the game.

Everyone else has pretty integral roles in the story, even if in the end it doesn't matter much. Margaery felt almost like an orginal character and although not a focus towards the latter half of the game, she really is a catalyst for Mira's storyline. Likewise, Tyrion and Cersei were well utilized in Mira's storyline too, in fact, I think there was much more they could have done with Cersei.

Dany has superficial importance, but is still a driving force in getting Asher into Mereen and is arguably the most visually impressive character along with her dragons, so I'm okay with it.

Ramsay, similar to Margaery, also has integral importance. It's his actions that kill Ethan and set the story in motion. I do think the story could have done less with him later though, as his plot armor is glaringly obvious.

But Jon? Jon didn't really do much except keep a moral compass, which is forced to be broken with Britt anyways, and give us an extra friend at the Wall, which we could only stay at for two full episodes. He might sympathize with you but ultimately does nothing to help you, unlike Cersei (who actually upholds her bargain and gets rid of Andros) and Dany (who can give you gold, determinately). His familiarity is really the only reason he had to be there, and if anything felt like it dragged Gared's story unecessarily.

  • This is pretty much how I feel about their inclusion. Especially about Jon. While I very much enjoyed seeing the interactions between Jon and Gared, it seemed he was more fanservice than anything else in the long run.

  • Regarding Jon. If the events of Season 6 goes as I believe, having him appear in the first season of the game is better than having him appear in the next or third season.

Also, I think fans of the show will wonder where Jon is, if he didn't appear in the Game.

  • I'm not against checking in on Jon in the game, but the problem is he didn't add much in terms of the narrative so if I had to choose one TV character to go without it would have been him. But I agree being at the Wall did deserve at least some mention of Jon Snow.

  • I think they should have included show characters in the same scale the way TWD S1 had comic book characters. They played a minor role, and were only there for just a bit. I think they were way too much in this game.

  • None of them really bothered me. They didn't even use Jon that much.

What's the point in getting an HBO license and not use the HBO actors? I mean it'd be different if they had used the books as the setting but they used the TV show and I think that part of the selling point to TV show fans is that characters from the show will be in the game.

You really think Telltale would skip the opportunity to bring Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Emilia clarke into Telltale? They were all mostly useless in the game but nice cameos nonetheless.

  • It didn't bother me it just could have progressed the story without him
