Any telltale style games?

No mentions of Life is Strange of 1979 Revolution, PLEASE.

I would say give Oxenfree a try, its a really cool game in my opinion :)

The art-style can be a bit, weird getting used to in the beginning. But the story and characters are really well-written, also the game has a very nice dialouge system kinda similiar to telltale games.

  • There's a game called The Descendant which is pretty much an exact copy in terms of Telltale gameplay. I haven't played it yet but it's pretty interesting.

Here's a link to the Steam page if you're interested

  • The new King's Quest, although it might have a bit too many puzzles for some people's taste.

  • Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. I think even LA Noire shares similarities in a way with the interrogations.

  • Until Dawn?

Cinders is pretty good (visual novel) too, with choices that matter and a lot of different endings.

  • Blues and Bullets is definitely worth checking out.

  • Until Dawn and Heavy Rain, games with choices which do affect the story 100%.

  • Until Dawn and Heavy Rain are awesome AF. If you don't like nudity, buy Until Dawn. If you don't like gore, buy Heavy Rain. But those are PlayStation exclusives.

But whatever you do, don't get Beyond: Two Souls or Life is Strange. They focus more on the story than the choices themselves.

  • TFTB focuses on both the story and choices equally, y'know.

Just be forewarned about the long wait times between episodes, I don't know if it'll get better.

Also, Dreamfall Chapters has the best consequence of choices, but it might be complicated if you haven't played previous games.

  • I would say Kentucky Route Zero, but that's never coming out so how about Knee Deep, which is a finished episodic murder mystery that actually has you as a director in a stage play. You get to decide what happens in the story and its all very surreal and strange. Definitely worth picking up on sale.

  • That sounds like a pretty, intressting game im absolutely gonna try that game out sometime :)

I played the Knee Deep demo, and really enjoyed it. But you're right, it's probably a "wait for a sale" type game.

  • ^^^this, its probably more suited to sam and max era fans puzzle wise but there is a choice system.

  • Its a really weird game. Chapter 1 had a good mix of puzzles and choices, Chapter 2 was almost entirely puzzle based, and Chapter 3 went full Telltale with basically no puzzles. Very curious to see where they go from here.

Im waiting for chapter 3 to download as I type this, you've got me worried as much as I like new telltale I hate them being considered "modern point and clicks" and im not a fan of the direction the genres going. Just waiting on timbleweed park.

Edit: I played it and liked it alot, my favorite is still the first one, this one was easier but there were still puzzles and the story branching is well executed, I really want to go back and fix things and I care about the characters 4/5 (points deducted for less puzzles)

  • I think its better to ask about "Choice Based Games". Saying TTG style is like saying any games where you get to pick something is just like TTG.

  • The Banner Saga is a cool story with choices that effect what's going on, but it's also a strategy game, where how well you perform decides how the story plays out!

Choice of Robots is also really great! It's a text-based choose your own adventure that branches off into many, many paths. And it's only $5 on Steam!

  • Any more story focused other than gameplay focused?

    And no puzzles

  • A book

  • ^ listen to this savage

    A book

  • the only ones i can think of is heavy rain beyond two souls (although there was a lot of action events as well) until dawn and la noire had ttg style in it interrogation
