you have S2 as the worst..?? i get everyone has their opinions but can i ask why is s2 that low?
ok so i wanted to make a season review thread but i think this is good enough ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
me i like to review the story lines and from then grade out the season, not grading the episodes to grade the season.
so ill start out with the locations/settings and then the personal arcs of what i think are the main protagonists.
*Riverlands: it was ok. blackfish death was wack, offscreen, everything about him was just as bad ass as when he first left but his death as shit. The freys back was cool and all that was set up nice but it was a bit of a let down. still some very cool dialog and scenes but it just lacked. brienne's story there was ok too. 6/10
*Sam's voyage: eh, it wasnt until his last two appearances that i thought he really mattered.. we got to see his asshole father which was cool but not enough. Oldtown was cool as hell too. 6-7/10
and ill do the characters plots manana cuz im getting tired. nd my stomach is really bad right now... i think me eating like crap and too much spicy stuff is making me pay rn. (i will edit this part out..)
Honestly, I thought it was pretty good. Totally my second favorite season in the show. After Season 5 being... mediocre at best, I'm glad that a lot of things have been improved in this season. Hell, I even used to hate Dany but episode 9 and 10 made me like her again, like I used to.
Definitely better than Season 5. I greatly enjoy the Wall, Beyond the Wall and the North storyline. The Essos storyline is good, but sadly didn't enjoy the Meereen part.
The King's Landing storyline is interesting. I didn't like it because of the Sparrow stuff. It didn't felt engaging to me and while the High Sparrow is an interesting character and extremely well acted by his actor, I didn't enjoy his endless preaching. But the finale made me like it. It was extremely exciting to watch the Wildfire explosion and Cersei unexpectingly becoming queen.
I am sorta neutral with Sam and the Iron Islands.
This Season made me hate the Sand Snakes and Dorne, but at least we got a really good scene with Olenna bashing them.
It is in my smug opinion that the Battle of the Bastards in Season 6 was way more awesome than the Battle of Hardhhome in Season 5.
I'm actually surprised I enjoyed Season 6 as much as I did. After the... not so great Season 5 I expected the same disappointment from Season 6, which fortunately didn't happen. Might be my 3rd favourite season.
None of them are bad really, but it's just the one that I like the least. Tyrion's storyline is awesome in s2, Theon is great too, Stannis and Arya have some good moments, but other than that it's just okay or meh. Especially Dany's storyline is very lacking. Robb wasn't quite as awesome as one expects after that "King in da Norf!" -hype in first season (I hadn't read the books yet), and it's even hard to remember what Jon did in this season, Overall season 2 is a bit boring, with some great moments here and there. And then there is Blackwater of course, which is what kinda saves season 2 for me.

It was ok, it was better than season 5, but it still suffered from some issues. Dorne became even more terrible, characters were teleporting about, I really don't understand why they didn't do scenes for their travels, they did it for season 1, 2, 3, 4 and they are all really great. Some characters were pretty disappointing this season. Euron is god awful, I was hoping Jamie would get his major plot point in Feast For Crows, let me just say he finds out something and it changes him more than losing his hand.
Generally, it was ok, but could have been much, much better.
I'm not sure if I should've marathon the season first before doing this, but oh well
Jon: Overall, I liked Jon's arc in this season. He is surrounded by a phenomenal supporting cast which make his scenes all the more awesome. I loved the beginning of his season. Well, the first two eps he was a corpse, but in the third episode he was awesome - that hanging scene was one of the highlights of the early season. I'm glad they showed a certain change in Jon without going overboard with it. The mid-season was a bit more quiet for Jon, but it's understandable since he had to share his scenes with Sansa who had an arc of her own, and also there are tons of other storylines going on all over the place. Then came the Battle of the Bastards. That was the true rebirth of Jon. He showed emotion, was fierce, and by the end of it punched the shit out of Ramsay. Right now BotB is my favorite episode of GoT - perhaps tied with Hardhome. And it was Jon's episode, so huge points to him. In the finale the huge moment of Jon was of course the King in the North -scene, which was also great. And imo Kit Harington is doing a great job as Jon. 9/10
Sansa: Now obviously Sansa shared a lot of her arc with Jon, but I have to rate her separately because her themes are very different to Jon's. Whilst Jon's season was about his reborn and finding again that passion to live, Sansa was very passionate from the beginning. Well, in the very first episodes she was not at the best possible situation and had to be saved by Theon and Brienne (including some awesome scenes), but as soon as she was on her feet again she wanted revenge. She is learning to be a player, but she is also developing to a darker personality. It was interesting to see her attitude towards Jon - she is much more understanding than her mother ever was, but perhaps she still has a bit of that feeling of superiority towards her "half-brother". Anyway, I think this season proved that Sansa's season 5 storyline wasn't just "shock value" or any of that bullshit that some people kept complaining about. All that happened to her last season was integral for her arc this year. 9.5/10
Dany: So Dany's storyline this year was basically to start from being a prisoner/slave of the Dothraki, show them her power with a cleverly devised spectacle, and march back to Meereen. All that was okay, and I loved the goodbye scene with Jorah. However, the best part of her arc this season was arguably the last two episodes, where she got to interact with characters like Tyrion and Yara. Oh, and burn some shit with Drogon. Overall, I think this was a good season for her, and it accomplished three things: 1.) It gave Dany an army strong enough to take Westeros, 2.) it opened the "Meereeneese knot", so we can finally leave Slavers Bay (or should I say Bay of Dragons?) behind, and 3.) it showed us that Dany has matured, but also that a tiny bit of that Targaryen madness is there (no, I'm not saying she is "Mad Queen"). Overall, this season built up a wonderful premise for Dany and her gang's storyline next season. 8/10
Tyrion: Tyrion had some nice moments, but sadly there were times when there wasn't really anything for him to do. The times when there was something useful for him to do, Peter Dinklage shined as always. His parley with the slavers was awesome, and in that episode his interaction with Grey Worm and Missandei was also great. However, just like with Dany, his best moments where at the last two episodes, during and after the Battle for Meereen. The highlight for Tyrion for sure was being named the Hand of the Queen. Overall, not the strongest season for Tyrion, but I'm not that disappointed because I have a good feeling about where his character is going. 7.5/10
Theon: Theon has become one of the most sympathetic characters in the show. I love him no matter who he is interacting with, partly because Alfie Allen is such an awesome actor. The best things about his arc this year were his heartfelt goodbye scene with Sansa, him reuniting with Yara and their relationship developing, and of course joining team Dany. Much of Theon's season went to travelling, but it was also a season of a broken man beginning to fix himself up and building a new life for himself. 8/10
Cersei: The Mad Queen's rise to power. Looking back at it now, it was a very strong season for Cersei. She was cold and calm the whole season, keeping us guessing if she still had that rage inside her - and, well, the ZombieMountain kept reminding us now and then. She spent most of her season locked into the Red Keep, and from there she watched as her enemies were blown up. The last episode was where Cersei (and Lena Headey) really shined, elevating herself to take the role of the baddie #1 that Ramsay left empty. I can't wait to see what kind of rule will she have over King's Landing. 8.5/10
Jaime: Jaime's strongest moments were those that he spent away from Cersei. In King's Landing his best scenes were the confronting of High Sparrow in the sept ("You would spill blood in this holy place?"), and interrupting the almost-walk-of-shame of Margaery. The highlight of his season though was the Siege of Riverrun. His scenes with Blackfish and Edmure were especially great. There wasn't that much of character development for Jaime this season though - perhaps a bit of growing to a role of leader. Again, can't wait to see where does his character go from here - valonqar? 8/10
Arya: Well, I didn't hate it as much as some (and the last episode was great for her), but I have to admit her storyline was a bit shaky. There were good moments like the training montage from ep 3 or 4, and her not killing Lady Crane, but in the end the Braavos storyline's resolution felt a bit thin and rushed. I have to say though that Arya has grown a lot during these two seasons at Braavos - she is much more calm and coldblooded now. And she has acquired some FM skills, so let's see where this goes. 7/10
Bran: Bran's arc was basically from episode 2 to episode 6 this year, and an additional snippet in the finale. I liked what we got though, and The Door will certainly be remembered as an awesome episode revolved around Bran's storyline. However, I was left a bit of feeling like "so, what's his role now?". Can his flashbacks still show something important/interesting? Is he useful against the White Walkers? Well, we'll see. 8.5/10
I'd say that's all the characters that can be called "main characters". There are many supporting characters who were awesome too, like Davos, Lyanna, Sam, Margaery, High Sparrow etc.
IMO Dorne is GoT's worst storyline of all.
They have never done traveling scenes unless something important happens during the traveling. And this is how it's been since season 1 episode 1. I don't really understand how people don't grasp that time passes between the scenes. Do we really need some obnoxious "3 weeks later" screens in GoT? Are the viewers really that dense?
But there are important scenes that they could have put in. For example, Jamie's travels through the Riverlands. In the books, he finally learns the truth of Cersei's affairs through Lancel (Bronn could have easily replaced him in that scene) (and it arguably changes him more than losing his hand), he meets his aunt who says a really incredible quote to him that has a big affect on him.
This might be my favorite season as a whole. It beats seven shades of shit out of Season 5 in quality, writing and overall storyline. That finale may be the best episode I've seen in the show thus far. Arcs like Cersei, Dany, Jaime and Sandor progressed well as others were admittedly just meh to bland (Arya and Jon). Still a great season and hoping for Season 7 to come soon
I've read the books. And these are things cut from his story, sure, but they have nothing to do with the complaint about "teleporting". Why does Jaime need to learn about Cersei's affairs on the road? And if I'm not mistaken his conversation with Genna happens at Riverrun, not on the road? And I believe they executed Jaime's actions at RR well enough without having Genna speaking with him. Minor characters being cut is also a thing we've had since the beginning.
I still think hardhome was way better, id say while this season was great battle of the bastards is easily my least favorite episode 9.
A very good season, while I liked season 5 this was way better than it. I find it hard to compare whole seasons, certain storylines over the seasons I can compare but not whole seasons

Season 6 was pretty good for me, but like all seasons, there are good and bad episodes. It wasn't to do with the writing or whatnot but some scenes fell a little flat and kind of ruined a few episodes. All in all, I'd probably rate it 8/10
