The update exists indeed, but usually, updates that prepare xbox 360 games for DLC content aren't this big. This is most likely a bug fixing patch.
However, this doesn't confirm or deny the possibility of the episode being released today or soon.
I really hope it both fixes some bugs and preps the game and to get the damn episode today!
300Mbs is a pretty big fucking update for a bug fix.
Considering the damned game is only 700Mbs on the 360.
The update might as well add an extra hour of content.

Got a notification from the game on my iPad that Episode 2 was available, but when I launch the game, it still says coming soon? There was a bug fix update on October 4th, but I'm not seeing any newer updates on the App Store and nothing in the description on the App Store page for the game. What gives?!
Tempted to buy the Season Pass and see if that will unlock it, but would prefer to save the $10 for now.
Replying since I can't seem to edit or delete, and maybe this will help others with the same issue: force quit the app and re-launched and it's now showing Episode 2! Still odd that there was no update to unlock it and no mention of it being available, either on this site or on the App Store page for the game.

No, Telltale is far from being the only. There's still a few non AAA games that have been launched and even a recently some AAA (Konami). As PC gamers noted, Telltale Engine was supposed to be optimized for low end devices as it wants to reach even mobile, and given that they've posted some screens on how the PS2 shows better graphics there's no case in there.
Gratefulness, not 100% relevant when people pays for their products, but yeah, still some true to that. Not easily disposable when you consider the number of 360s and PS3s active to this day, you might want to get marketing on that.
And to finish, my rant is PURELY for being left in the dark:if they tell us an estimate, we wouldn't be in the dark this much. People doesn't want to hear 'till its out.
