I'm not saying it's bad writing nor am I saying that Joker can't appear. I'm just saying he's overused to the point where his whole character had gotten stale and dull in the past couple of years.
He's not the focus, of course, but if his role in Episode 4 is nothing but blatant fan service then that's where I start complaining that the only reason Telltale went this route was just to pander to the fans and nothing else.
It's same kind of complaints I have with the forced Bruce Selina relationship in this story; it literally just feels like fan pandering.
But Joker obviously isn't the focus of this Batman story. He's probably just appearing for this episode's Asylum sections and there's no ind… moreication they're putting him in there because they're struggling on what to do in the story. In the Asylum with Bruce seems like a logical place for him to show up and I wouldn't be surprised if they showed other future villains too while we're in there, just for fun. The direction seems thought out. So why are you getting so salty over it? In this context, it does sound like you're saying the Joker can't appear ever or it's bad writing.
I mean, they're throwing in a lot of things for Batman fans and Joker is big in Batman. You could call this whole game "fan service" if you go down that route. I imagine they chose to adapt Batman because it's a fun world and has built-in fans.
Also, Bruce and Selina isn't exactly forced or came out of nowhere. Like it or not, Batman is his own character and often that character has a relationship like this with Selina. They chose to adapt this Bruce, but we still have a choice on whether we go through with the romance or not. This isn't a traditional RPG where the character is fully ours.
Your personal distaste doesn't mean Joker appearing is always stale and dull and shouldn't happen or it's "safe" writing. Besides, Telltale is changing up quite a few things with characters we think we know. I wouldn't start being negative so soon.
If Joker had been the main villain of this game, I'd also be disappointed that they weren't playing with a less used villain too. But he's not, so there's no need to get up in arms.

Joker is overused, that's all I'm saying and I was hoping Telltale would have enough creative spark to not use him at all in this story and do something interesting and unique like they said they would but nope.
I'll wait and see, but my first impressions are fairly disappointed.

I just don't think it's fair to say they aren't being interesting and unique just because they decided to let the Joker be in an episode. We haven't even seen what he adds to the story or his background and relationship with Bruce in this version of Batman. If 'absolutely no Joker' is THE requirement for a Batman story to be creative, that's silly to me. I'd say this story is already creative.
You're entitled to your opinion, but it bugs me to see people being negative already. It may very well be that Joker ends up adding nothing of particular value, but it's way too early to say.

In this penultimate chapter, things have gone from bad to worse for The Dark Knight due to the shocking events of Episode 3: ‘New World Orde… morer’. Penguin has taken control of Wayne Enterprises, and the Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane has a new guest - you - Bruce Wayne. With the Batman removed from the streets of Gotham City, Harvey Dent's forces and the Children of Arkham are at war, with innocent citizens caught in the crossfire. To escape the 'comforts' of your padded cell, you must choose allies to aid in your escape, even if they aren't the sort to put a smile on your face. How far are you willing to go for justice? For vengeance?
It’s another tense, action-packed episode featuring a first appearance by a grinning future adversary..... We can’t wait for you to dive back in and fight to save Gotham City with your choices!

Hoping its season 2 because, season 2, and if not, then Joker would just feel really shoe horned in if his role in season 1 isn't just being in the Asylum.
I mean, they could just be referencing the fact that we all know Joker will eventually become a Batman villain.
Or they could be hinting at a second season eventually!
Everyone's discussing the Joker blah blah blah, Selina blah blah blah, Harvey blah blah blah, asylum blah blah blah. Somehow, the most important detail has diverted itself from your attention: Harvey's tie. It's a different color now. That's some crazy shit right there.
Yeah, that's him. The laugh, the white skin, the green hair, the smile, and even the personality, that is definitely The Joker. While I'm not entirely surprised to see Joker show up this season, as an appearance from Batman's Archenemy is generally a given in any media, I am surprised that he seems to be making such a big, direct, appearance, even if it's just in a supporting role at Arkham Asylum. I was expecting just teasing, foreshadowing, or a pre-Joker bad guy before we saw the genuine article actually show up. Really interested to see how they handle him here, and what kind of dynamic he'll have with Bruce, especially since this is apparently before he becomes the Clown Prince of Crime of Gotham and obsessed with Batman.
Blockbuster, Arnold Wesker (The Ventriloquist) and possibly Victor Zsasz (the guy trying to stab Bruce) in Arkham.
Vicki going "missing" after drugging Bruce. Doesn't seem like we'll see much of Lady Arkham this episode, at least until the end probably.
Harvey using his power to put Gotham under martial law, which I imagine will come off differently depending on whether he's scarred or not. He even seems to be turning the GCPD into his own gang of sorts, inching ever closer to fully becoming Two-Face.
Dent's men beating on Bruce and attacking Gordon.
Selina at Wayne Manor (That kiss!).
Batman infiltrating Wayne Enterprises to take on Penguin.
Two-Face attacking Wayne Manor like in the preview.

Also, I think its safe to assume that Penguin knows Bruce is Batman, in the trailer where Penguin has some cool robot gloves they seem to be down in Lucius area. Unless Oz is really dumb, he probably knows now.
what I mean is that the most common orgin of joker becoming joker is that he falls in a vat of chemicals due to batman trying to aprehend him. I wonder what there trying to go for here considering that joker has never actually met batman.
Since I'm about to do a alternate playthrough, could someone post the choices that are featured on the Telltale website? The more minor ones. It says that I have not played any Episodes for me.
Considering we are all the way up to Episode 4, the use of the phrase "featuring a first appearance by a grinning future adversary...." is really interesting to me.
I do wonder whether there is a possibility about getting someone to help you escape, though I sure as hell wouldn't want Zasaz OR Joker loose in Gotham if there's a choice. Wesker at least is generally pretty harmless without Scarface to control him (whether you believe it's a persona of his or something altogether more supernatural) so I would go with him.
Harvey attack on Wayne Manor is now much more serious than it seemed to be in the teaser. I actually giggled when I saw him burst the door down with a big tommy gun by himself, but stick a crew with him and he gets way more bad ass. And we're using bats to fight him, sweet!

I might be alone in this, but I like that they aren't doing the thing where each side of his suit is a different color. I mean, he's called Two Face, not Two Face-and-suit-too.
But seriously though, I prefer just having one solid color for his suit, rather than a suit that seems to exist solely to say "hey, this guy has two personalities, can you tell yet"

yeah I considered that but if that was the case why did bruce ask who joker was in the tralier? If he had already met joker and knew what happend to him prior to episode 4.
No, you get over it. You've been filling the forum with your tripe for weeks, and some of us have reached our wits' end. At this point you're almost as bad as the Kenny haters.
You can go on whinging all you like, but we've got The Joker now. You don't like it, don't play the damn game.
By that logic, the main protagonist in any story is overused.
The Joker is an overused character and antagonist nowadays and that's a fact
Get over it.
They haven't met before. Remember in Episode 1 there was a mention on Gotham News of a fire which had been burning for three days at ACE Chemicals. That's evidently connected to the Joker, most likely his origin. I would expect like many interpretations though they'll be quiet on some of the details. But Joker may have been a patient at Arkham since that time.

I believe Batman always assumed the man in ace chemical plants either died or disappeared or if he DID know he was Joker he still doesn't know the mans face under the hood. In most origins Joker is wearing the Red Hood costume and helmet so he couldn't really see his face.
But if the Joker was in Ace chemicals as Jack Napier, Bruce does recognize him; he did so in Mask of the Phantasm and the Batman (1989 film) so I'm assuming Joker wasn't in Ace without the costume unless Bruce mentions it later of course.

Honestly kinda hoping that Bruce and Joker become best buddies in Arkham.
I have a feeling it'll be 4 choices. Go to Harvey as Bruce or Batman, or go to Penguin as Bruce or Batman.
Me too. Plot twist, Joker is Robin.
And I have to ask because my soul is a garbage bag: Broker? Or Juce?
Thank you for getting me out of that place! I'm crying from the infinite beauty of the trailer!
Bet ya Joker is Frank who lost alot of weight and went crazy when someone shaved off his glorious beard

Ventriloquist
Blockbuster
Zsasz
Joker
Twoface
Penguin

I love the picture of Harvey that you included in there. He looks like he's awkwardly posing for picture day.
Exactly, he's in Arkham because he snapped and killed his barber. And he drank the barbicide. Because that's just crazy
Someone remembered his birthday?
That's definitely zsasz. You can see the tally marks briefly.
Not only the tie, but his suit as well!
Also, I think its safe to assume that Penguin knows Bruce is Batman, in the trailer where Penguin has some cool robot gloves they seem to be down in Lucius area. Unless Oz is really dumb, he probably knows now.
For everyone asking who's playing our Joker...
wait so how did joker go crazy if he never met batman?
Nobody knows not even joker

We got young Han Solo over here?
Holy cow Blind Sniper...you are not kidding...that was one cinematic trailer. TellTalegames showing DC how to change things up.
S2 confirmed folks.
The Joker looks scary as fuck. That long ass smile is going to haunt me.

Joker probably met Batman prior to Episode 4. Remember the news report about Ace Chemicals on Realm of Shadows?
And Penguin looks like he's trying to sing an extremely high note
