Assassin's Creed Rant
Assassin's Creed sucks enormous Gorilla DICK.
Out of all the stupid annual franchises out there, Assassin's Creed is the one I hate the most. And that's because these games are at such a huge disconnect with FUN.
They don't even know what that is.
On top of that, you have to go through U-play to play it!
The list of U-play games to play are very short. (I don't think any of those games are even on there.)
Let's start with the bulk of these games:
Trailing missions. You know, the very worst part of every game, where you have to follow some dude as he walks as slowly as the physics of the engine will allow him to?
Even in good games, trailing missions are just obnoxious and boring.
Let me just break down the first hour of Assassin's Creed IV:
9:00 minutes is trailing some dude.
18 minutes in and you're in some unskippable cutscene.
21 minutes and 52 seconds and you're still in an unskippable cutscene..
31 minutes in and you're doing some short trailing mission..
36 minutes in and yet another fucking trailing mission..
38 minutes in still the same fucking mission
42 minutes in again, still the same thing
56 minutes in and you're following some dumb hosts
58 minutes in and still trailing some fucking idiot
What ELSE do you do in Assassin's Creed besides trailing missions?
Well, I'm glad you asked.
There are actually over NINETY side missions, believe it or not!
And when I say ninety, I mean three side missions, thirty times each. Ubisoft's idea of variety is "Hey, here's the same exact side mission but It's over here on the map, WOW!" (How'd we do that??)
And you know what's insane? The core mechanics are FINE! Somewhere, buried underneath the horrible filler bullshit there's a fun game in there, believe it or not.
It's FUN to stab the dudes with the little hidden blade, and the sword fighting is shammo but it's flashy enough to be satisfying, and that's all I ask from these games.
Just let me get to the fun part,
They're so hesistant,
So reluctant,
to let you just PLAY THE FUCKING GAME.
TL;DR The game sucks ass and Uncharted is better.
Well, I'm done ranting for now. You guys tell me what you think about Assassin's Creed.
Comments
When they finished with Ezio (and Desmond) they finished the series for me. Assassin's Creed 3 is pretty good tho, and Syndicate is alrighty. I love the idea and universe they built with Assassin's Creed, but they aren't doing the series justice nowadays.
You have to make stuff up about AC4 to make your point?
Anyway I still love Assassin's Creed. I think it's great and will always be great.
How was I making stuff up about AC4?
I was literally breaking down the beginning of AC4.
Damn dude.
I personally enjoy the franchise, while it could be improved heavily, I still enjoy it nonetheless.
You literally were not. There were a couple trailing missions in the first section of the game. There wasn't that many and they definitely didn't last that long.
Assassin's creed 1 and blackflag were the only enjoyable games in the series.
I played almost all the assasins creed games and some other Ubisoft games and most Ubisoft games are the same in a good way I always play one of their games then I'm like ok this is getting boring maybe this isn't the best game to play them something like a character death happens or something else cool and I'm hooked for the remainder of the game so yeah not all bad.
i love AC. have the logo tattoo'd on my kneecap, but i do get what you mean. After Ezio, it lost it's passion for money. The movie, i don't see how they can explain the Animus and things, especially to people who've never played, in 2 hours. AC II, Brotherhood, and III were the best.
I love Assassins Creed 3
also, Ubisoft makes games i like, like AC and FarCry, but i do agree, Naughty Dog is better. The only game to challenge Telltale Walking Dead S.1 is The Last of Us in terms of feelings. I rarely get emotional from entertainment. Lee's end, TLOU end, Altair's end in AC: Revelation. They all get you so heavily invested in the characters.
and yeah, trailing missions suck, but in the depths of AC, they a big necessity. To be an assassin, it would require such. If you want a game where you can run through something and skip the story, you can find others i'm sure. Complaining about a game is kind of pointless, because you have the option of tons of games, you don't have to play it. So it kind of just comes off as whining. People live some horrible lives in the world, and you're crying over trailing missions. LOL
This rant vaguely reminds me of one made by videogamedunkey
Nothing too major, just a few similarities.
You are the first person I've heard say that.
The problem with Assassin's Creed nowadays is that they don't put much focus on the actual Templar/Assassin conflict or the ideologies behind it. I've been reading the novelisation of Unity, and it's actually way more interesting than most of the games. Even the earlier AC games made the Templars out to be stereotypical villains, but the novel of Unity at least drew attention to the fact that the Templars believe that they're doing the right thing. It feels like that ideological conflict is missing from the games.
How can you say that? Assassin's Creed 2 had a better story.
Why are you comparing this with Uncharted? They are completely different. Assassin's Creed is Open-World while Uncharted is Story-Based.
I can say from experience that they do indeed last that long. AC4 ain't bad though, but that first section was a fucking nightmare.
AC2 a better story? No offense, but I gotta HEAVILY disagree with that
Choked on my ice cream after reading that line..wow dude.
After they killed off both Lucy & Desmond I lost a lot of love for those games. The Story no longer maded any sense after 3. Assassin's Creed is dying slowly .
A few similarities??? Is this the same guy?
AC III is the very best AC Game in my opinion! And it is not like I have not played ALL the other
Me absolutely too!!!
I've played the game multiple times and I don't recall them being that long.
I didn't like Ezio for the simple fact, the series basically booted Altiair to the curb. I only came back to assassin's creed when it looked enjoyable without Altiair, and that was with pirates and Edward. The series can go die now as far as I'm concerned.
I remember buying AC1 when it came out, loved that game so much. Still one of my favourites. Because IT WAS ABOUT AN ACTUAL ASSASSIN CREED.
Loved AC2, Brotherhood was good despite have 1 location. Revelations finished Ezio's story well.
I liked playing AC3 unlike everyone else it seems. But from then on, my god, even more glitches. Rushed games - I havent even play Syndicate. Fuck that.
But im hopeful for this movie, I dont judge till I've seen.
One I have replayed the most is AC1. I was a sweat and got 100% in AC1, 2 and Brotherhood. As I could keep replaying. But the others... they felt repetitive and just rushed games which made it less enjoyable
Oh yeah, FUCK. Can't believe that Lucy died like that. Threw the fucking controller.
Assassin's Creed 2 is the reason this franchise became popular. It improved everything AC 1 had, parkour, characters, missions, story, combat etc.
But Assassin's Creed 1 was so goddamn repetetive. How can you choose a game with repetetive missions over a game with better missions?
FOUND IT! HAHA
I was waiting for this comment.
Are you serious? All assassins creed games are repetitive in gameplay lol. They're based off the same formula. I like assassin's creed 1 more because I like altiair more.
I enjoyed AC3 and a few friends of my
First of AC died for me with Desmond Miles, I hardly enjoyed Blag Flag or anything that came after that but I do love the extended universe like the books so keep that in mind... And I'm surprised this series is still alive after 2014 launch.
Oke I swear this thread came up in your head because of the activity around Assassin's Creed movie which is my doing and:).... And because of positive things around it.
Second I notice you have literally used videogamedunkey and Desmond seeing things on the wall was at the end of AC1 and they didn't close the door, there is emotion in the voice acting and can people stop complaining about the First Fucking Civilization (yeah I talk about videogamedunkey here).
But oke I agree with lot of things hell I didn't even buy Syndicate after Unity launch and borrowed it from a friend. I hate the copy paste things and the story is going downhill and I can complain about this franchise alot if you noticed my other AC posts beside the movie believe me that is alot.
Uncharted is better? you are comparing a story driven series to a open world game series? Nathan Drake was in the firt few games the Ezio Auditore from AC. If Nathans parants died on screen and he was banging every chick in the game (which was the most annoying part about Ezio personally) I would hardly see a difference between the two characters. Uncharted gameplay is the same in every freaking game they just upscale it with very good fights you would hardly notice.
Hell I love freaking Uncharted I really do but come on.
I don't know...I've loved every AC except Unity and Syndicate. Even 3, which is my favourite. They found a formula that worked and stuck with it, ended up in some very memorable games a lot of gamers cherish. It definitely went downhill when current gen came along. I believe because it couldn't compete with the amazing things other triple A titles are doing nowadays.
I'm glad they took a year off to rethink the franchise, it shows maturity and care for the fan base. They could've kept milking money off it.
I fucking love the Assassin's Creed franchise
Well surprising enough I liked the story of AC3. I felt like they developed Connor very well. Plus.. bow and arrows, hatchets and climbing trees is totally awesome to me.
But amen to the other thing you said ^^
It's good to see someone else who liked that game.
Booooooo. AC is a great franchise which has just recently become crap.
I freaking love Assassin's Creed, everything except some of the story crap in Unity. Also, the templar turn in the 360 exclusive one (Rogue? Subtitle escapes me..) wasn't handled well enough to convince me. And I don't really care for the multiplayer.
Basically, as long as they don't try to tie the Creed to satanism like they did a couple times in Unity, great. But if that continues, I'll be extremely disappointed, and done with Ubisoft. That's really my only complaint that isn't so minor it's not worth mentioning here.
I thought Syndicate was actually a pretty strong return to form for the franchise, but still not as good as 2, Brotherhood, 3, or Black Flag. So if a game's the fifth best in the franchise and is still great, that's saying a lot. They seriously need to start treating the modern day story with more.. focus again. Four games straight we've played random schmoes in the modern.
Uncharted is also one of my favorite series, above AC on my list, but it's a weird comparison between two very different franchises.
Think of the Assassins creed series as a line graph,
DISCLAIMER: this is my opinion!, if you think that AC4 is the worst AC game to exist then OK
NOTE: If i am wrong about the order the games came out in, please correct me
In conclusion, Assassins creed is not going anywhere as long as it makes Ubisoft money. Its pretty much going to be infinite Assassins creed sequels that are the same as the last one until fans get so fed up they boycott the series. In all seriousness, i loved the AC series until AC Rogue came out, it was a reskin of AC4 and started the same AC game as the last one trend (in my opinion).
