My one problem with ******'s scene in episode 5
So, after it is revealed that the whole time Selina just wanted to get close to Bruce Wayne to con him, it was a good scene. I didnt see it coming and it was a really well done scene to really mess with the player.
However, my one problem with the scene is how after everything Selina did to con Bruce Wayne and steal this one gadget, she just gives it up no problem. No fight, no argument or anything. I was hoping that maybe by our choices we could have made Selina try to see how we could help her and she doesnt need to be doing these bad things. In the end I see why they did what they did, but it still bothers me that it basically meant that the whole thing Selina did was truly for nothing, because she just gave it up right after.

I don't think the whole thing Selina did was for nothing-- she proved she could steal the thing, and then (in my game) admitted that she didn't really need it. She challenged herself and succeeded.
Ultimately, after Selina told me the whole thing was a con, I told her I didn't believe her, and her reaction suggested maybe she wasn't being completely honest. I parted ways with her feeling that Bruce had made a serious impression, and that maybe they'd meet again.
That's just my experience though!
the only problem I had with that scene was that I couldn't kick her ass for using Bruce and Harvey pretending like she actually cared, I really wish she would've put up a fight I wanted to hurt that bitch so bad.
ahh okay, looks like I didnt get to hear her say that. I told her it was just a crutch to her and she said she then said she didnt "really" need it, but she never said anything about just being able to prove she could.
she doesn't say she did it just to prove she could, I just sensed that she was satisfied having stolen it and felt that she didn't really need to keep it.
She's failed at a job before. She didn't seem to care that she failed with the Hill job and it went south. And things got complicated with Bruce. She does care and if you chose the right options she looks the same way she does when you're being nice to her that night at her apartment and she says the same things about knowing who she is. She cares, just not enough to stay or maybe too much to stay. This isn't just another job no matter what she said and she doesn't strike me as a sore loser. Besides, what's she going to do? Fight you for it? At this point in their relationship?
Thats what I kinda mean though.
It became more than conning Bruce Wayne, she found out he was Batman and honestly looked at him more as Batman than Bruce. Its weird that she found out who Batman is, just happens to be Bruce Wayne who she wanted steal from, helps him out a few times, but then still steals and says that the relationship really wasnt a big deal. I just think its weird that she'd be willing to risk her life just to continue the con over this one thing that she ends up just handing over.
If you ask her if it was all an act, she also says it only started that way, obviously implying that she started genuinely caring partway through the story.
It might not have been just the con or the feelings, though. Unless the Children of Arkham are in on the con, which is unlikely, she was in genuine trouble from them too and if she does in fact care about people more than she wants to admit and doesn't want blood on her hands then I can still see her acting the way she did while ultimately being about the con.
This was my impression as well. I think she enjoys proving her talents far more than the spoils she earns.
Plus she knows by now that it's futile-- if anyone can catch her, it's Bruce, and he'd never let her get away with something like that.
But I might not have minded one last bout of fisticuffs to really charge up those emotions
Yeah, I actually wanted an option to punch her. Even if she's got a little bit of good inside her, she's fucking radiating evil.
I wouldnt really want or think there would be a straight up BRAWL but yeah, I was expecting atleast some resistance.
Like I said, I think it is a little ridiculous that she wanted to rob Bruce, and even after finding out he was Batman and doing these things to help him, just to try and rob him again just to give up what she took right away. Like, wouldnt it make more sense to try to make Bruce start to really trust you and, I dont know, steal from his billions of dollars and never have to steal or do anything again?
I don't get how she feels too guilty that Bruce chose to rescue her and let Harvey get hurt to be able to walk into Harvey's hospital room when she came all that way just to do that but she doesn't seem to feel any responsibility (not that it's her FAULT but it's not her fault Bruce chose her instead when they were both in danger) or guilt for the fact he seems to have lost his mind over thinking she and Bruce slept together? Is it because she sees him as a victim at the debate but by the time he's attacking her and Bruce he's not sympathetic to her?
Aw, but going a few rounds would be just like old times.
Yeah, it does make you wonder just how important the key was. Or maybe she's a stickler for follow-through? I think she does like and respect Bruce, whereas she probably expecting him to be an oblivious, stuck-up playboy. Maybe the more she got to know Bruce/Batman, the less enthusiasm she had for the original prize-- but she already had a lot of sunk cost particularly with Harvey.
I don't think you're wrong, BTW, I'm just talking out loud
I feel ya
If she didn't want to be a thief I think she's proven she could totally get a rich man to support her but that's not the kind of life that would make her happy. She enjoys a lot about the life she chose or she'd stop and get a real job.
Episode 3 she talks about how she doesnt like her life though, which is one reason why I was hoping we could get her to stop stealing. She talked about how she doesnt really see a point to doing what she does other than "I can" and how shes actually kinda disappointed by doing it. Im just saying, if you're willing to pull this long con, might as well do one last big haul and steal a good amount of Bruce's money and stop doing what you said you dont really enjoy.
I just demanded it back. She didn't have much of a choice.
Wow, she really overreacts to the part where you tell her that Harvey (who she brings up as an example of why she can't stay around you because look at what you did to your bestie) was going to destroy the whole city and if she ever loses her mind and tries to destroy the whole city you'll lock her up to. That's not really a threat and not something likely to happen. Stealing things aren't going to bring the city to the brink like Mayor Dent did. But you tell her that and she just mentally erases your whole history.
"dude if i did something bad would you stop being my friend"
"i mean if you became hitler or something then yeah i guess"
"dude wtf you dont value our friendship fuck you"
I got the same impression you did.
I believe she was being honest in her apartment when she said she does it for the thrill of breaking what can't be broken, not for the riches. She got what she wanted - the thrill.
Batman and Catwoman have been on this game for decades in the comics. She comes and goes, sometimes they are on the same side, sometimes they are not, they fall in love, they fall in bed, they fight, it is always like this. TellTale did an excellent job portraying their relationship.
Well, almost. Bruce getting angry at her hardly ever pisses her off. It is easy to piss her off in this game, though, if you are not as playful as she is.
Selina is completely out of her mind there, wow.
