Favourite Artist's / Artwork

A reply on my recent comment made me think of a cool little thread.

I love discovering art from comics, manga and all other kinds of media. And fan made stuff too! So here could be a place where people could find new artists to follow - or find new reading material based off of the artwork people like and see on here.

Favourite artists? Favourite piece of art? Favourite page from a comic? Anything like that.

Two styles I really like are Sui Ishida (Tokyo Ghoul) and Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead)

Sui, I love how subtle he does some pages, like on Eto & Touka below. But then brings out detailed and violent pages, bloody awesome. You can skip from a funny Saiko page to Urie on the next page going mental with rough lines to see his craziness

Charlie, He draws some of the best zombies I've seen tbh, these big double spreads like this really show it off!

  • Asano Inio definetly has a great artstyle.

  • My favourite manga artist is definietly Yana Toboso (Author of Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, which is my favourite manga and anime.) Her art is what inspired me to start drawing in the first place and I absolutely love her character designs. They are all so beautiful, detailed and unique.

And this is my favourite drawing from her so far:

  • Ah, good ol' Black Butler, I love it too. It's true that Yana Toboso has a knack for making stunning characters all the while giving each one a unique look; except for those who share direct family links, all of them look widely different. Also, Ciel is such a cutie patootie:

  • Nice to see someone, who also likes Kuroshitsuji. A lot of people think it's just a yaoi because of the Ciel x Sebastian shipping and don't even give it a chance, but the story is really beautiful and touching. By the way, when did the scene from the picture you posted happen? I don't remember it for some reason.

Not much of an art connoisseur, but I thought Mark Bagley did a good job on Ultimate Spider-Man. Stuart Immonen's drawings just always looked kinda awkward to me and Sara Pichelli's drawings looked a little too cartooney. For me, Bagley will always be the best.

It's in the Werewolf/Emerald Witch Arc in Germany, the one that introduces Sullivan and Wolfram. More precisely, this frame is in chapter 89 page 30.

  • Thanks. ^^ I don't know how I forgot about this, since this was my favourite arc after the Circus one, but oh well.

  • I really like Tony Moore's art. He did the original illustrations for the first six issues of The Walking Dead along with the first few covers. His drawings have an insane amount of detail in them despite the distinct cartoony look he has.

  • Robert Williams, a lot of psychedelic paintings, I like the ones he has done with cars the most. He also made the "banned" cover art for the Guns 'n' Roses album Appetite For Destruction (link to Wikipedia articel)

  • I think Mr. Steak and Akira Toriyama are both amazing artists and seeing their work fills me with joy. Mojojo does some RWBY artwork and I find myself loving their pieces. I'd mention Todd McFarlane and Tony Moore but they're assholes so meh. Other than that, @JordaaNPopee and @Tobi-Is-A-Good-Boy both make some wonderful artwork that I find myself speechless by how awesome it all is.

  • I agree with you there. Bagley will always be one of the greats to me.

  • Some of the best art I've seen on here is by @Dont_Look_Back

Do you have future plans in art?

  • Aw thanks!

And me? Yeah, I do actually. I eventually plan on getting a full ride to an art school. Hopefully it goes as planned.

  • I like Masashi Kishimoto's style (even though he has assistants) for it's simple but still unique designs he make, he knows how to make someone standout with just enough detail, also the environmental work is some of the best stuff I enjoy from him. That and the crazy perspective, fluent poses and many of the techniques in the story.

Tite Kubo is another one. I like the tall looks he gives to his characters, even though the limbs may be slim I enjoy how he draws his characters. The faces he puts on his characters are top notch (currently speaking), also I love his character designs. I even dig how he draws his battles and just everything, it's just amazing.

Those are two I can talk about for now, I kinda have grocery shopping to do so I don't have much time. xD I'll be editing it tomorrow when I get back on the computer to add more (still can't log in on PS Vita....).

I like Tetsuya Nomura art on Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy

  • I really enjoy his style (at least in this book.) I feel he had a really balanced blend of realism and cartoonish elements which I think fits Ultimate Spider-Man perfectly.

I agree with you there. Bagley will always be one of the greats to me.
