Olivia's Voice in Season 2

Do you guys prefer Olivia's old voice or her new voice? And yes, I think her new voice is weird.

Comments

  • Personally, I prefer the old one. Hearing the new one is just so disorienting.

  • Martha Plimpton was wonderful and did a great job as Olivia, but I'm willing to give the new voice actor a chance. I'm glad she's taking her own spin for Olivia rather than trying to just replace Martha.

Wait, why isn't Martha voicing Olivia?

    Edit: Nevermind, I found out!

  • I don’t think that new voice fits Olivia but I’m willing to give it a chance but for now it just doesn’t feel like Olivia.

  • Why was her voice actor replaced?

    I agree with that 100%.

But her different design this season kinda helps. If she looked exactly the same as she did the last season, it would have been even more disorienting.

  • I kinda like the new voice tbh. While I enjoyed the old voice it was sorta grating to hear sometimes.

  • Thanks m8

  • I honestly like the new voice but it's a shame Martha Plimpton couldn't reprise the role. It was off-putting at first but I'm willing to give this new VA a chance. (I love the new voice, though honestly, if they had this VA since season 1 I'd have liked it more)

  • Glad to see Natasha get some work. I know her as Sera in Game of Thrones.

Olivia's new voice actress, Natasha Loring, doesn't capture the same feeling that Martha Plimpton did. In my honest opinion, that's almost like changing the voice actress of Clementine (Melissa Hutchison) from The Walking Dead to someone entirely different, because it can really disrupt the flow of the story for players due to its offsetting nature depending on Olivia's involvement for this season. To be completely honest, they should have postponed productions instead of recasting a new voice actress for an already established character, and then they could have actually worked on a different, highly anticipated project before releasing this prematurely. Either way, Martha will always be remembered as Olivia to me.

I don't agree with the Clementine comparison its more like changing the voice actor for kenny/Jane in the flashbacks for season 3. I doubt she'll be heavily featured this season, and aren't you being overdramatic, postponing a games production just because one minor voice actor couldn't make it? what.

highly anticipated project before releasing this prematurely

Considering the quality of episode 1 (over 2 hours long, improves on previous mechanics) i wouldn't call it prematurely.

  • Fortunately, I didn't add a comment for other members of this forum to agree with. We're all entitled to our own opinion. However, the example used can be applied to any character from other universes, whether Clementine, Kenny, or Jane from The Walking Dead; or Rhys, Fiona, Vaughn, or Sasha from Tales From The Borderlands. As for Olivia's involvement in the story for this season, I would have to agree with you there that she won't be appearing very much. Although, postponing a game's production to cast the absolute best voice actors and actresses (and give the original voice actors and actresses the opportunity to reprise their roles as the characters who they voiced previously) as well as evaluating other in-game features such as the functionality, isn't being "overdramatic" as you would seem to suggest. It's just a smart business decision.

Now to the quality of the first episode, it's definitely been improved in terms of mechanics as well as other in-game features that were previously excluded, but that doesn't mean it wasn't released earlier than perhaps it should have been. Imagine how much more that they could have improved on by postponing the release date, at the very least, if not the game's production itself. By the way, the length of an episode is highly dependent on the player themselves, because every playthrough on YouTube that I have watched for the first episode is under 2 hours long. Since I don't much care for arguing over opinions, I'm going to excuse myself from the conversation, though. Have a good night!

  • It's fine for me.

  • its strange that olivia has a different voice i may not get use to it

  • I want to believe they pulled her in when she was already recording for Thrones 2... a man can dream.

  • I didn't notice she had a different voice

  • no

  • I think the new voice sounds better since it sounds more feminine and combines with its new style

  • I miss her old voice. The new one just doesn't fit well in my opinion. I'm willing to give her a chance though, as she wasn't in episode one much.

  • From being with her briefly I hated to the change, but maybe if she is with us for a whole episode I could get used to it.

  • TBH, The Voice works with them being more mature, I Didn't care for her old voice, but the new voice just feels so nice with them being more mature! (pls don't keel me)

  • I just don't get why neither of Olivia's voices have been black women. Aren't Telltale usually good at casting by, like, race or ethnicity or whatever it is? I understand in Clementine's and Sasha's cases, but I don't see why it's like that here.

(Is partially just upset that we haven't Mara Junot back since Christa went MIA)

  • It takes a little getting used to, but her new voice is still good.

  • Maybe it will, I just need to get used to it (maybe in season 2)

When i saw little bits of that Trash all i could think of Olivia was Sera from GoT

  • I liked her new voice, actually. Its better than the older version.

  • I like the old voice because a) the new one splits me in two and tosses me into the Garbage Can of Confusion as it sounds like she's both preteen and 40 simultaneously; and b) because original voice actor Martha Plimpton was in The Goonies, and I am a Goony. Goonies for Life.
