I want to get back into the X-MEN movies but I'm unsure about a few things. Help?

The last X-MEN movie I watched was Origins, I think it was called? Anyway I've watched that and X-MEN 1, 2 and Last Stand and no more. With Logan all these other new movies out, I want to get back into the movies but I'm unsure about a lot so I could use some help. NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

I have questions like what order do I watch them in? Are any of them reboots? White is good and which is bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Well there's Wolverine which is a sequel to Origins but doesn't really acknowledge it. First Class is pretty much a reboot of the universe though they still acknowledge the original trilogy.

Just watch them in release order. So:
Wolverine (if you want), then First Class, Days of Futures Past and Apocalypse. You can watch Deadpool and Logan at pretty much any point since they very loosely connect to the universe.

There's also the tv shows (Legion and The Gifted) which I hear are pretty good.

If you want to go Chronological, this is certainly the way. The way I watched it as well.

    X-Men: First Class
    X-Men Origins: Wolverine
    X-Men: Apocalypse
This one's kinda meh, but X-Men: Dark Phoenix (also yet to be released, forgot to mention that)
Then X-Men, X2 and The Last Stand.
    The Wolverine
    Deadpool
    The Gifted (TV-Series)
New Mutants (when released next year)
    Deadpool 2 (when released)
    Days of Future Past
    Logan.

This is the ultimate order. It's very important to watch Logan last for the best experience as well as correct timeline.

I hope you enjoys them and find great joy in to the them just as I did when i bingewatched them all in 2 days just before the Logan premiere.

Ni clue where Legion (TV-Series) fits in timeline-wise since I have not seen it.

EDIT: Forgot to give my list from best to worst.

    1. Logan
    2. Days of Future Past
    3. Deadpool
    4. X-Men
    5. First Class
    6. X2
Note that the ones above are completely amazing, and all of them are good. But the ones under this line is not quite as good as the 6 above.
    7. Origins: Wolverine
    8. Apocalypse
    9. The Last Stand
    10. The Wolverine

Also really enjoying TV-Series The Gifted right now, but I am yet to see Legion.

  • Would you say it's better to watch them chronologically rather than in order of release?

  • No, if anything, don't watch it expecting to see some timeline consistency. I'll just say, if there's one thing that's made fun of regarding the movies, it's the messy timeline of it.

  • Just watch the "new" timeline movies:

    First Class
    Days of Future Past
    Apocalypse
    (maybe) The Wolverine
    Logan

  • Absolutely! Everything is explained wonderfully in both First Class and X-Men. So it would only make sense to do so.

I'm really glad that I did. I have afterwards watched it in released order, and I mean, it works alright. But I much prefers to watch them chronologically, as it gives you a sense of the years and such and the Timeline is coherent and consistent from First Class up until Days of Future Past, which changes a lot. But that would definitely be the way to go!

Hope I was of some help.

  • I wholeheartedly agree with What Ivy said. Watch them chronologically. I did a similar thing as Ivy and watched them all for the first time a few days before the release of Logan, and that was great.

    So go chronologically I say!
