If anyone's looking to read something neat there's a webcomic named Hwaja by Hong Jacga, which follows a boy who has fallen in love with the ghost of a girl who haunts an abandoned house. It's a psychological horror and it is easily one of the best comics that I've read. It's dark and unsettling but it can be incredibly touching at times. It does touch upon some dark subject matter, namely abuse but it's done well and not in a creepy way (take that what you will).

It's only 37 chapters long so it would take maybe a couple hours to read it from start to finish so if you have the time, I highly recommend it.

Uncharted Movie: Mark Wahlberg in Talks for Sully

I'm sorry, what? Don't get me wrong, I love Mark Wahlberg, but him playing Sully from Uncharted in a movie? I don't see it, at all.

Apparently, it's an origin movie for Nathan Drake (played by Tom Holland), but still, I just can't see him playing a younger Sully.

If the first thing you're making isn't something either Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, or Danny Phantom related, then why bother. Yeah yeah I know, there's a live action adaptation of Avatar that Netflix is making with the original creators, and while I'm cautiously optimistic about it, we all know it's going to have nothing on the original. I desperately want animated continuations or sequel series of those shows. Come on Netflix, you got actual competition with Disney+, give the fans what they want.

EDIT: Oh, and Drake & Josh too.

  • Those fucking idiots. I don't know any good movies that starred Wahlberg, I know he was in the so-bad-it's-amazing film The Happening and the Transformers films after the third movie. I don't see how you could cast him after how terrible he was in those films. They might make the same mistake as the team behind Terminator Genisys, casting Jai Courtney who was one of the reasons Die Hard 5 was garbage and ruined the franchise.

  • I assume this deal will involve them reviving some of their older shows since Nick has been on a nostalgia kick the last couple years. The Rugrats movie just got pulled from its release 2021 schedule so it might be put on Netflix instead of having a theatrical release.

If they ever do a third Avatar series I hope to God they actually leave the creators alone this time.

So I got Disney+ yesterday. Just gonna subscribe for the one month until December (renews on the 19th), and I should see by then if I think it's worth it or not.

    The good so far:

    • The Disney back-catalog is enor-mouse (sorry). So many films and series.
    • The Pixar, Marvel, and heck, even National Geographic's sections are pretty large as well.
    • I've got 600+ episodes of The Simpsons at my fingertips. I don't think there was ever a way to stream them in Canada before... (I know the US had FXX/Simpsons World)
    • A pretty cheap $9
    • If you search up any missing Disney films, it will appear in their catalog and tell you exactly when it's supposed to arrive on the service once other streaming sites lose their license. (A notable thing is Incredibles 2 set to arrive on July 30th of next year)
    • Lots of noteworthy series and films to catch up on. I don't know if I want to jump into Kim Possible Season 4 that I never saw as a kid, or check out the TRON: Uprising or Star Wars: Clone Wars series I keep hearing good things about.

    The Bad:

    • The service was relegated to an interactive catalog yesterday. Nothing would play, I could only browse. (There goes Day 1 of the 7-day trial period). I knew people had problems, but it wasn't that widespread and common. I was unlucky.
    • Netflix has spoiled us with bingeing.
Disney+ is not slated to have any all-at-once/binge releases of shows. So, that means any current subscribers must wait weeks on end to see the end of their shows. While I understand the (greedy) decision to have monthly subscribers, some shows don't need this slow trickle of content. Such as short-form series like "Pixar In Real Life" or "Forky Asks a Question", both shows with episodes that will last around 5 minutes -- if Ep1 is of any indication -- and needing to wait a full week just to catch a couple more minutes of cuteness is just going to be tedious.

    • The Simpsons is apparently cropped to fit a widescreen format. This means the tops and bottoms of the original 4:3 aspect ratio episodes are cut off, resulting in scenery or even visual jokes being lost. There is no comment on whether a change is coming.

    • A couple bugs like pages needing to be refreshed if you encounter an error, or some titles in a state of appearing/disappearing. Their servers are probably overloaded, which sucks.
    • A few minor spelling mistakes in a very few amount of descriptions.
    • An equally few amount of episode orderings for Series. (Note: the 90s Spider-Man series has a few episodes out of order. The first episode "Sins of the Fathers: Chapter 10 - Venom Returns" is obviously in the wrong spot.)
    • Lots of noteworthy series and films to catch up on. I don't know if I want to jump into Kim Possible Season 4 that I never saw as a kid, or check out the TRON: Uprising or Star Wars: Clone Wars series I keep hearing good things about. THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH FOR ONE MAN.
  • The Simpsons thing is really bad and stupid.

Also, I have no problems with releasing episodes weekly, you know, how episodes are normally released on TV. I've always felt more connected to a show when I watch it over weeks than days.

  • Okay, I don't really mind the slow burn of new Originals per week, but it is pretty jarring when Netflix usually releases things all-at-once, and on Disney+ none of the content will be/has been released all-at-once. I guess the only frustrating thing is when it comes to series with short-form content. It seems kinda time-wasteful to slowly release 5 minutes of each bit.

All good picks. However, if you decide to watch Clone Wars I honestly recommend you search up the "important" must watch episodes/arcs and just watch those rather than go through the entire series since some of the episodes can be rather... gruelling to sit through. Of course it's up to you whether or not to watch the entire thing.

There are a lot of different lists and not all of them are the same but THIS is a pretty decent list to follow. Just look at the highlighted episode titles and avoid the other text if you don't want spoilers.

THIS is a good one too. It's easier to follow and actually has the episode numbers.

Agreed. I don't understand why Nick meddled and interfered so much with The Legend of Korra. I love the show, but it definitely suffered because of Nick cutting it's budget and relegating it to mainly online distribution with little to no marketing. From what I'm hearing, in regards to the live action Avatar adaptation, Bryan and Mike have been given a wide range of creative freedom, so if they were to do another series but with Netflix, I'd be really interested to see what they do.

  • Season 1 had really good ratings, it started to go down afterwards, but again, that's mainly because they never properly marketed it, and thus, not many people knew it was on. I forget which review site it was for (might have been AV Club), but I was reading a review for an episode, and either a commenter or the actual reviewer said that he had no idea that this episode had even aired, there was so little marketing for the show.

Season 1 did around 3-4 million per episode. Season 2 rolls around about 15 months or so after Season 1 (a pretty big gap, but I think TLOK was originally meant as a mini-series that Nick expanded for 3 more seasons after Season 1, hence the long wait), and viewership was around 2 million per episode. A noticeable decrease, but this is where Nick really started to not advertise the show (that and, to be fair, Season 2 really wasn't the greatest season of the series, the first half is pretty lackluster). Season 3 (easily the show's best season and one of the best from both shows) had even lower numbers, at one point, barely being above a million per episode. Halfway through Season 3, and then the entirety of Season 4, The Legend of Korra was only available to watch through various online streaming services (Amazon, Hulu) as well as the Nickelodeon website.

Yup. I remember when it was first announced that it was supposed to be like a 12 episode mini-series.

Man, Nickelodeon really screwed over the production team. It's a wonder that the creators still continue to work with Nickelodeon for the graphic novels and whatnot.

  • I watched Joker on theaters, my very first DC movie experience on the big screen. It was really good but I'm not gonna lie. It was way overhyped. What was the real hype for the movie actually, other than Joaquin Phoenix playing the clown? There were so many moments that I've seen coming from a mile away. It didn't do anything new but Joaquin Phoenix did the best performance of the Joker on the big screen since Heath Ledger, no doubt about it. So yeah, Jared Leto had no chance with DCEU's decisions.

It's a pretty enjoyable movie, I have no regrets seeing it but people are going way too far saying this is the best comic book film of the decade.

  • Hopefully the overall story is more enjoyable than Bl3's overall story. I will say Bl3's best story parts are the side quest for the most part, so hopefully its more of that.

I remember after I finished Borderlands 3 I didnt really understand all the hate for Ava. But then I realized that she was unironcally now the leader of Sanctuary. I thought Lilith was just saying some like symbolic shit but nope, leader of Sanctuary. Like I it was so poorly done I didnt even put 2 and 2 together.

Also I cant wait for larger inventory space. I haven't touched Bl3 in last few weeks mostly due to the fact I cant carry anything anymore.

  • tbh i understand the hype and why everybody loves it so much, but i could not get into it. it was just pretty bad to me. any day of the week i'd rather watch the dark knight trilogy, superman 1, 2 and returns and shazam over joker. it's not a bad film but it did not speak to me at all and was pretty laughable overall imo.
