  • Ok, now I am getting worried what this dickhead Putin is going to do next since he is literally threatening the entire world with nuclear bombs. My mom suggests that I should pack up in case me and my great-aunt have to leave so quickly before they start a war in my country as well. As if pandemic wasn't enough for our planet to deal with.

  • As much as I’d love to reassure you that he absolutely won’t (I can’t predict that), one aspect that is at least in your country’s favor is the fact that Romania is a part of NATO, unlike Finland and Sweden which Putin has gone after more directly with threats as in recent days they have been drawn more towards NATO and the west. While I’ve had disagreements and misgivings about NATO’s perceived effectiveness, it is in NATO’s charter that an attack on one is an attack on all. If he does actively threaten or go after Romania, then he will have NATO’s own forces and the response of all NATO countries against him. Judging from how this invasion has gone, the Russian military can barely handle untrained civilians in Ukraine, and has been suffering from key logistical problems in the rearmament and resupplying of its troops. Russia can’t even get control of the airways, and that’s without the requested assistance of the US and other allied nations. It would be unfathomable and irrational to go after a country like Romania. Then again, Putin is unhinged and irrational, and his own ego and lust for power to restore the communist bloc could drive him to these actions. Praying that you stay safe, but I would definitely recommend researching and preparing alternative options. It’s like having a gun, you’re ready for the worst possible scenario, but you hope that you never have to use it.

  • I was around during the Cold War, with the U.S. and U.S.S.R. pointing so many nuclear missiles at each other, with no guarantees that someone wouldn't decide to just blow up the world one day. When it's that way every day, though, and there isn't anything you can do about it personally, you just wind up going about your life as normal, and hope the world doesn't blow up. It didn't then, and I don't think it's going to now, either.

There's something to be said for having emergency plans, though, as emergencies happen a lot more frequently. You should have a supply of water available that would keep you going for at least a couple days if the taps stopped working. Also think about what you would take if you had to leave on foot in a hurry, leaving most of your stuff behind. That helps you prepare for a war, or a fire, or an earthquake, or whatever.

On ResetEra, people found data leaks indicating progress on a new Switch variant that uses more powerful tech, including (potential) support for graphics that can use machine learning to upscale all the way up to 4K on a TV display.

As much as I love the Switch, I do think an upgrade is definitely appreciated, given it was already technically kinda underpowered back in 2017.

I hope that new, new, version is a year or two away, cause that feels weirdly predatory to customers.

If it is indeed some 'Switch 2', the fact that they'd be using the same/similar hardware is good news it could be backwards compatible...

I know there's some certain people here not too fond of the game, so ignore this then haha -- but that new Life is Strange Remastered Collection is now out.

Gotta say -- while I think remastering it isn't necessary (it has some unique stylized graphics already!) -- the added facial motion capture looks like a major improvement over the originals.

The characters usually had this flat expression, and terrible open-close mouth animation for dialogue. Well now, I think they finally fixed it. Characters eyes and eyebrows are a lot more expressive, lip-synching looks accurate, and they even smoothed over a lot of textures *(though that kinda removed much of the game's unique oil-painting-like artstyle.)

  • I am ready to die. Was meant to get a physical copy of the game but I didn't want to wait any longer, so digital it is.

  • awkwardly bringing this up but honestly wolf 2 is really lucky to have Pierre back as a writer. I feel many would consider him one of if not the best writer Telltale ever had, but I recently was rereading the tftbl oral history and it is pretty crazy how much he shaped these games. The article mentions that apparently the reason why Wolf Among Us is even a neon 80s noir is because he was the one who sort of showed up after recently being hired and pitched it, which lead to the game being completely changed to what it is now. It also mentions some other things that are honestly a bit strange thinking they were not considered before, with tftbl ep 1 skipping over Rhys and Vaughn on Hyperion, meaning there was no Vasquez firing you scene until he pitched it. And although not mentioned in the article, in the files a note is left from Tales ep 5 that reveals Pierre wrote the entirety of the ending where it goes back and forth between Rhys and Fiona on his own. Just thought it was interesting stuff

  • I remember being here, or at least lurking, when In Harms Way came out, and everyone and their mother was shitting on Pierre for being a shitty writer because the episode sucked and didn't have impactful choices and blah blah blah. I always considered Pierre to be one of the stronger writers to come out of Telltale, he had some major roles in games like TWAU, S2, and TFTBL, even being the studio's director of writing before he left.

Makes you wonder though, why did he get kicked off TWAU S1 after the first episode. If making it a noir theme was his idea, why was he removed after only the first episode and moved over permanently to TWD S2 (he had an additional writing credit on All That Remains, but didn't write a full episode until In Harms Way, which was a few months after being moved to TWD team).

I think a big factor of that episode was because of management. It was very clearly the "clean up" episode with obvious "Get rid of these characters with X amount of time and budget." Doesn't really matter who you got working on it if they basically need to follow a crappy outline. Like how originally the Russian group was to be the 400 days characters but it seems this was proven either too difficult or too expensive and complicated to pull off with how fast they wanted production to be done, which is why they are pretty random because they simply are random.

Honestly I feel a big reason why a lot of Telltale games are inconstant is because the team member switching. I feel there is a pretty obvious reason why TWD1 and Tales are so consistent and it is probably because they are the only 2 Telltale games that didn't have constant team members being swapped on and off. TWD was before the Telltale management got into full swing and Tales apparently only kept so many team members all the way through because they had to really fight for it. Even Wolf has clear and obvious missteps, one being the entire story being changed but also you can clearly tell eps 4 and 5 were rushed out. For why he was kicked off, I guess simple answer is bad management. The tftbl article says that Nick was removed from Wolf to work on Borderlands, another team remember (another designer) said he was basically forcibly removed from Tales to finish TWD2. Telltale was a grindhouse and it just wanted to get people to get working on the next thing as soon as possible. They didn't really care a big reason for why Wolf was the way it was now was because of his idea is honestly the real answer to that.

I do suppose it does make this Wolf 2 sound really exciting. We've seen what this team can do when they are able to do what they want, but now minus terrible management squeezing them all the time. I mean a good sign really should've been they agreed to partner with New Telltale in the first place after all leaving Telltale for seemingly not wanting to deal with this kind of management where they don't really care who is making it, just to get it done. (But that I can only assume.)

I also got around to reading Bigby vs Batman and it sure was something. I will give credit the reason for just how Bigby and Batman are crossing over was probably a smart move so Batman suddenly being part of Fables isn't super jarring, but it still steps into the really bonkers Fable lore that feels a bit half assed.

It isn't very good I feel. I keep forgetting how sucky Bigby is in the comics and he is pretty sucky in this too. Honestly if this was someones first introduction to Fables I think they'd have no interest, Bigby is incredibly unlikeable in this while honestly doing practically nothing the whole time. Also very funny is that this is 100% canon to Fables and has pretty important events. An of course because for whatever reason this comes out before the new Fables run one of these happens with no real context so I assume that will be revealed in the new run. Just an overall awkward storyline I feel. Hits pretty much every hero vs hero trope but in a pretty boring way. Ironically it does introduce something that could make wolf among us "canon" again, so spoilers below if anyone cares

Basically it is revealed that because magic explosion that happened in the Woodlands in the comics it ended up spreading magical stuff to different universes, so Bigby and Cindy (who is alive again because this happens after the new comics that are not out yet) go to find them. This is the last universe and has a powerful witch who tried taking over Fabletown who is now a ghost and was possessing a Batman villain in this universe to try and resurrect herself and stuff. She fails, Bigby takes her back to wherever Bigby hangs out I guess because he canonically shouldn't be on Earth anymore. Anyway, this brings in alternate universes as canon Fables lore so BASICALLY Wolf 2 is canon and in theory could do whatever they want which I feel they should at this point. Hell now there is an excuse to do so as clearly alternate Earths are now part of the lore. Also, VERY randomly Grendel's mother is shoved into this story for like 2 seconds as an antagonist which is odd knowing how twau is not canon or whatever, kind of feels like an excuse to take away a telltale character seeing how they introduced gren and grendels mother is obviously a major character from that story.

  • Basically it is revealed that because magic explosion that happened in the Woodlands in the comics it ended up spreading magical stuff to different universes

Why does this sound familiar? Oh....

Stupid question: is it safe to say that Spider-Man No Way Home did it much better with the existence of multiverse?

  • Today on Internet comments that make me want to fucking die: People were defending the fact that Tiny Tina, a 13 year old girl, is one of the most searched video game characters...on Pornhub.

  • I mean it doesnt really focus that much on their actually being a multiverse and it sort of comes off like they didnt even realize they introduced the idea of a multiverse being a part of the Fables storyline. Before these different worlds were more like their literal own world but this is the first time a different universe is presented as a different planet earth, so like an alternate world rather than a completely separate one that you cross over with magic.

Now I dont know if the new Fables run will talk on it as much with the going between worlds and maybe we see different earths are a major factor, but at the moment it feels off. Based on the ending it really feels like the writers didnt even realize they basically introduced alternate timelines and stuff. Like I think it makes more sense for Bigby and Batman not actually being from the same universe rather than always sharing one, but it is odd because it really does imply different earths which begs a lot of questions about why Fables went to a specific earth for example.

  • noticed a pretty minor change in snows design from concept art to the final art. It seems the undershirt has been removed, which makes me wonder if that means Snow's hair won't be in a ponytail like the concept either and that instead the hair down Snow is how she will always look. That said, it is possible she will still alternate between both, but it is notable how the shirt also changes which could potentially mean that concept art design won't appear now.

Would be cool to see characters wear something different each day that passes, but doing a whole new outfit does stack up, which is probably why recently with LISTC for example the outfits were texture swaps. However, I could see them have Snow change her hair during different days so characters dont feel as static.

    Lois: What?
Peter: Do not care for Batman Season 3.
Chris: How can you even say that, dad?
Peter: Don't think it needs it.
Lois: Peter, it's so good! It's like the perfect Telltale game!
Peter: This is what everyone always said. Whenever they say...
Chris: Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, I mean, you never see, Anthony Ingruber!
Peter: Fine. Fine. Fine actor, did not like the games.
    Brian: Why not?
Peter: Did not...couldn't get into it.
Lois: Explain yourself. What didn't you like about it?
Peter: It insists upon itself, Lois.
    Lois: What?
    Peter: It insists upon itself.
Lois: What does that even mean?
Chris: Because it has a valid point to make, it's insisted!
Peter: It takes forever getting in; you spend like six and a half hours... You know, Its padding for 3 episodes, then John becomes Joker.
Chris: You think it is all padding?!
Stewie: How can you say you don't like it if you haven't even given it a chance?
Lois: I agree with Stewie. It's not even fair.
Peter: I have tried on three separate occasions to get through it, and I get to the scene where Bruce is going undercover to help The Pact find Lotus.
Lois: Yeah, it's a great scene. I love that scene.
Peter: I have no idea what they're doing there. It's like they're unaware of their goals... You know, that's where I lose interest in it. Nothing was stopping The Pact to go after Lotus before the game even began.
    Lois: You know what, Peter,
    Chris: Its a narrative twist!
Lois: Its subtlety; it's something you don't understand.
Peter: I love Tales from the Borderlands. That is my answer to that statement.
    Lois: Exactly.
    Peter: Well, there you go.
    Lois: Whatever.
Chris: I like that game too.

  • I mean to give an actual reason, I don't dislike the Batman games but I feel they are overall pretty mediocre. Solid B tier Telltale Games. Obviously this gets pretty subjective but I feel it becomes more apparent if you go back and fully replay the seasons. I replayed both games and became honestly really bored which I wasn't expecting. Season 1 I feel was because the choices don't really matter at all and it feels really linear, honestly more so than most Telltale games. S2 I felt my main issue was you can feel the rewrites with an inconsistent tone and story elements dropped. And episodes 2 - 4 do feel like buying time until we get Joker, because episode 1 and both version of 5 are seriously really good, but 2 - 4 are honestly so miserable replaying, it just takes forever to get interesting again. I felt the John to Joker transformation was pretty sudden despite having those 3 episodes that could've focused on actually showing his decent, because although it is sorta there, it is also sorta in the background.

So I know that is all pretty subjective, but idk. If a Batman 3 happens I wouldn't be upset and I'd still be pretty excited for it if it happens, but if you told me right now "Batman Season 3 will never happen" I'd be pretty indifferent.

For those that purchased this and were highly anticipating it, I am sorry. While by no means am I a fan, I do respect those who were able to get something out of this game and series, it was something you enjoyed, and that was fine with me. It resonates and touches some people in the way it was intended, and while I can’t relate, I’m glad it delivered on the experience you wanted. Seeing the shoddy work that went in it, you deserved better.
