  Well, I have the Telltale one. It has all the games, and a DVD which has about the full Summer of Sam & Max(Television resolution), and a partial soundtrack. Also, the Telltale one has that nifty cover art.
  
  The retail one, I don't have. I hear it has character bios, a S&M timeline(I saw this one, it's in a front-cover foldout), and a poster(Don't quote me on this last one.) However, the reatail one doesn't have all the content I mentioned in the Telltale one. I think the only similarities they have are the games themselves.
  
  So take your pick. I, personally, like the Telltale release better, but it's your choice.

  the version sold by telltale also has better art work and a generous sample of the soundtrack as well as a variety of sam and max wallpapers (in many resolutions)
  
  and Kedri there is only one disc which acts as a hybrid dvd so it has the games on for pc and if you put it in a dvd player it will play the dvd content (you made it sound like there were 2 discs)

  The main differences are the packaging, the format (retail CD vs. Telltale's hybrid DVD), and a few of the extras. The soundtrack MP3s and wallpapers that were mentioned above are available on both versions.
  
  Telltale's Season One DVD:
  
  -Games and extras are all on one DVD
  -Extras include machinima shorts, blooper reel, concept art montage video, all six episode trailers plus the E3 trailer, cutscene galleries with commentary from members of the development team, plus a few easter eggs (all viewable in your TV DVD player or on your computer), along with an MP3 soundtrack sampler and desktop wallpaper
  -Comes in DVD case with cover art painted by Steve Purcell
  -Manual is a 2-page quickstart guide that fits inside the DVD case
  -Only available to customers who purchase the $34.95 Season One download bundle from Telltale's store
  
  The Adventure Company's retail CD:
  
  -Games and extras are on two separate CDs
  -Extras include all six episode trailers, an exclusive Behind the Scenes video, a full-sized poster of the highway surfing art Steve painted for the CGW cover last summer, bios of the main characters, a concept art gallery, MP3 soundtrack sampler, and desktop wallpaper

  EDIT: The retail version also contains links to the comic generator and online Sam & Max comic hosted on Telltale's site. It doesn't have a self-contained version of the comic generator, even though some of the marketing copy that was released made it sound that way.

  (Or $50 / £25 if you're buying from Amazon, which is still more than it cost me to get it from Telltale + Disc)
