Tax on International Orders

Just a thought but, thanks to the BTTF promotion I've spent about $350 and I'm a little worried about getting stung by UK customs when it all arrives.

Is there any way to put the price after discount on the box instead of the full retail?

or being really cheeky, mark it as a gift?

I expect a lot of other non US members would be interested about this as well.

thanks

    350$! What did you buy, like 20 t-shirts? :p

I don't know about UK, but where I am from the customs limit is 45 euros (I think) for things ordered outside the EU. I'd expect a that for package worth 350$, you'll have to pay taxes. Lucky for me my order was worth about 40€...

Something like that yeah :) Can I get an official answer though?

Did you use the ground/flat (I forget what they call it) shipping option? Ever since Telltale changed their warehouse distributor a while back I no longer get customs charges when using that shipping method.

Don't take that as a definite though. Also, they can't mark it as a gift for legal reasons as it's not a private to private transaction.

I just selected the free shipping option which IIRC was US Priority International Mail. I didn't get charged anything for my ToMI collectors edition but that was only $35 (or $55 I forget)

Yeah I knew the gift option would be outta the question but couldn't hurt to ask :)

Yeah, I'm interested. I don't wanna pay 60 dollars to customs, either. It's more than I've spent on Telltale store...

    And, one more question.

If your order still says Pending or Not Shipped right now and you don't have any items that are on backorder it's likely your order has shipped.

When the Season 3 disc came out we had to process 1000s of orders and since uploading information that an order has shipped takes a lot of time we're using that time to ship more orders instead. I know this may seem like a bit of annoyance but we're doing it to get your items to you faster.

I am waiting for another shipping, which suits this explanation. But I'm worried about customs since it was a huge package. It's been 1-2 weeks. I know that it can take up to 6 weeks, but still worried.

Same on worries of both things as the above poster (my DVD3 thing also had 50% off, so is also above $100).

I actually mailed to support about this. And still didn't get any reply (except automated mail).

    It's 'issue-41018' by the way.

Between this being Christmas weekend and a probably huge backlog of Back to the Future tickets, it might be a while before you get an answer...
In the meantime, here is as close to an official answer as you're going to get:

The way we label orders for customs depends on the country you are in. We won't normally label orders as a gift or free because in some countries customs will charge a gift fee, which is why we label the discs as a $1.

In most cases we declare the actual order total minus shipping.

I'm not in the office this weekend but Monday I can pull some customs certificates from refused orders and try to give some specific examples.

It's the same as what he posted. We won't lie on customs forms but our shipping company tries to make it as cheap as possible.

And yes, I'm trying very hard to keep up over the holidays but BttF brought a lot of new people to the site and my email box is about to burst.

I'm going to be working over the holidays so I promise to get to you ASAP.

Happy (Insert holiday of your choice here) Everyone :p!
