Tell Herschel the Truth
Hello all. I tried telling Herschel the truth multiple times but it always comes out a lie. Anyone have specifics on how to answer to him? Sorry in advance if this has been covered, I didn't see anything posted.

I am sure that it has been answered before but it could be hard to find it.
@raspy_zo: Are you sure that the game registered it as a lie. I cannot remember the exact wordings, but Hershel will always lecture Lee, no matter if he lied or not.
Hershel makes a very good points about this, even if your not lying to the character. Keep your facts strait and 'we' or 'us', what had happened, how exactly it happened. Or just makes sure it is something believable, after all being to trusting could lead to unforeseen events. Lying could actually be in your favor, for any character that might know to much about Lee.
-You flat out lie, Hershel rips on you for that.
-You tell the truth, but it isn't that bright of a truth, so Hershel gives you advice to become a better liar for your own safety. (Same or similar dialogue as the first case) You're a convicted killer and whether he knows it or not, it is good advice to "become a better liar".
-You tell a half-truth and Hershel doesn't talk to you about lying.
At the last part of the barn conversation, Picking the "what is it" line will lead to calling you a liar regardless of how truthful you've been. If you picked "Sure" he won't call you a liar and treats it as friendly advice this also applies if you lied to him when first meeting him. (will test out the other last options at the barn)
Hopefully that clears things up.
And if were were being honest the whole time with him but choose I was looking in her house for help, which isn't even a lie really, the end game stats will show you weren't being truthful.
There a similar issue with siding with with Kenny. you can be completely siding with Kenny but if you choose "reason with him" the stats will show you sided with Larry.
