Episode 4 - Glitch with my saves (X360).

Hi, first of all sorry in advance for my english :o

I just buy the episode 4 on Xbox 360, I have 3 save files (1st is my main gameplay, 2nd is a run where I play with only bad decisions and 3 is my "perfect" run). The game load the most recent save (save #2) even if I select the other ones...if I load save #1 or #3 I see stats and choices I've made in save #2 :/ I want to play the episode with my save #1 first but the game won't let me do it :(

Please fix this ASAP.

I apologize for the late reply to this thread.

We are aware of the Xbox only issue where no matter which save slot is selected, only 1 will load. We do know that this issue only occurs when Episode 4 is installed, and appears to occur when the last played save file has a completed Episode 3 save. Removing Episode 4 will allow other slots to be accessed, and it's possible that completing (or re-completing) Episode 3 on another slot will allow that slot to be accessed once Episode 4 is installed. We are actively trying to track down the cause of this issue, and once we do, we will offer a fix.

What you have to do step by step if you want to use a specific save when starting episode 4 :
1) Make a backup of your game save (just to be sure).
2) Delete episode 4.
3) Now you need to finish ep3 again, just select the save you want for ep4 and press A to continue, you'll have a few dialogues and the credits, it's really quick.
4) When you're back to the menu you can download episode 4 again and this time it will load the good save.
It works for me, I can finally load my save #1 ! But I guess if you want to use another save slot later you'll have to redone this until the patch is coming.

I am having the same problem. I can only access my second save. When i try to select my other 2 saves, i just brings me back to the second.

I deleted my third save then copied my second save to the third slot, then deleted the second save to free it up... but now i can only start a new game and am completely unable to access the other 2 saves. This started after i downloaded episode 4.

I tried the "sign in / sign out" trick, and that didn't work either. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and im playing on xbox 360.

I do as well, this same thing is happening to me, didn't have an issue till I got episode 4

Also, I don't think this can be recovered anymore, but I too tried to copy/delete the second save file, and Now neither of my saves are working, both appear as I haven't completed anything yet it still says which episode I'm on...

Needless to say, I don't want to have to start both saves over again, and I'm not going to be thrilled if I can't access the save files....

Now my save for episode 3 is all the way back to
mystery at the motor inn"..I really dont want to replay it...

Okay so since for some reason the game tries to load up save 2 all the time, I moved my second save to the third slot. Then deleted the save in slot 2. Then I copied my save 1 (the one I want to continue from) and then it shows my correct progress... however it does not show the correct choices I've made. This is pretty unacceptable. The game is based on the choices you make, I'm not about to continue in a save file with choices I didn't make...

I know games have bugs, but this is a gamebreaker here, and All I would really like is an eta on a fix and if it. Or at least let us know you are aware of the issue and are working on it...

    ^ I agree.

Having the exact same problem. Some of the decisions I made in Episode 3 are different too. I don't want to start up a game of Episode 4 yet in case anything else gets messed up so I'll wait on a fix before playing it. I was looking forward to playing it as soon as it downloaded too.

Hopefully when a fix is available it'll get posted in this thread and we can all get updated about it.

I'm having the same problem, game was working fine, but then I downloaded Episode 4 and now I can only select my second game slot from the start menu for some F-ed up reason.

I also strongly agree, I know that it's only the first day since the release, but seriously Telltale, this is a MAJOR blow to you're reputation right here!
Even if you CAN patch the problem before millions of players erase their games and quit all together, this game should not have been released without the proper testings first, and don't tell me that it WAS tested thoroughly because someone obviously missed a HUGE flaw here (and a very bad one too considering that you're game is all about the choices that you make as a player, but now those choices are all gone).

We were ALL excited and a lot of us IMPATIENT even for the latest installment of this game, but I'd rather wait a long time for a game that works than not wait that long for a game that FORCES me to play all over again from the beginning of a LONG series.

Please fix this bug or at least respond on these forums... with quickness.

Yeah, same problem here as well. My saves became a mishmash of my two games. Did the copy then delete and it sort of fixed it except for my episode three choices in the second half. Redoing those but it stinks. :p
  • edited October 2012
Nope, didn't fix it. My choices are all screwed up now. I'll literally have to start from the beginning.
  • edited October 2012
Weird. The game saves are the same, even though they're in different slots. I restarted one, and when I went back to the other, to double check if maybe it was just ep3 that I need to redo, it showed that I had to start over at ep1 as well. The issue has to be with multiple saves.

I'm also having this probem after downloading episode 4 on the xbox 360. I hope Telltale looks into it.

I just had the same problem, so in my nerd rage i deleted my save games and started over. only now in ep. 1 when im sitting in the back of the cop car i cant select to look at the rear view mirror. the y icon pops up but the game wont register that im hitting it. this is pathetic, i had no problem with telltale till this day. i was emotionally invested in this series, i even didn't care that we had a long wait period in between episodes. but this is absolute B.S and what makes me even more furious is that I can't find one damn reply from telltale about this in any of the forums.

They need to address this and figure out a way to make our games whole again. I want to play episode 4, not 1 through 3 again.

I don't see why (once its fixed) they wouldn't be able to restore our saves if we remember our key choices.
  • edited October 2012
Also, starting over doesn't help as the game is still randomly changing choices from chapters I just finished.
  • edited October 2012
I had one save going and the moment I hit Play on Episode 4, it started all over from Episode 1...

    [Edited]

It looks like it just starts back to Episode 1, but all my decisions from the other episodes were still there. (Highlight them and hit Y - I made some unpopular choices, so I know they weren't randomized)

I just went back into the game and chose Episode 4. The recap was accurate.

I got one on steam, my saves vanished and I was forced to replay from EP1 all the way up to Ep4, needless to say the anticipation was killing me, but it was a good pastime

Here is how I got it working on Xbox:

    - I took a backup of my saves just in case
    - I had three saves - two identical saves for completing EP3 (took a backup copy back then), and one for EP1 where I tried different decisions. I deleted the EP1 save, then selected one of the EP3 saves and allowed it to randomize my decisions.
    - Quit and saved the game, then selected the EP3 save I did not touch, and saw that it remembered my decisions. It still asked me to randomize the skipped episodes, but it didn't affect in any way, everything was the way I played the game.

Its nice that you found a fix but most wont wanna go through that. telltale need to respond in some way with something.

This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. Not even a "hey we're looking into it!" or anything similar. Thanks for the update on how to fix it, I'm going to try that now.

I am having the same problem as well, but I play the game through Steam.
  • edited October 2012
I only have 1 save file in the first game slot, yet when I select it, the game wants me to start the new game from slot 2. When I copy slot 1 to slot 2 and then try and resume, it skips ahead to Ep. 4 like it should do, yet still asks me if I want to randomize the choices.

Very unfortunate, was looking forward to playing this new instalment asap, I hope a solution is found soon.
  • edited October 2012
Just kept messing around with copying my 1 save file across all slots and selecting slot 2. One of the times it didn't ask me to randomize it and the recap was perfect (whereas previous attempts, the recap was off). Don't know if I'll be able to re-load it at another time and keep my save files.
  • edited October 2012
 Same problem... kind of? All 3 saves register the same choices when loaded, but I can't confirm or deny that they are save #2's options.

Any response from Telltale on this? I don't want to touch the game until I know this is fixed.
  • edited October 2012
Listen guys I just had the same problem with the save thing it put up a thread myself but I found the answer!

Start the game and play the save it keeps going to. Then after doing that go to ep*4 and rewind it to the last chapter *spoiler* (where you lose clem for the second time) and when it shows the hat just back to the main menu and it should work! All you have to do when you get back is to remember the choice you made at the end of that one after you did the rest! (Thats how I got it to work)
  • edited October 2012
This was happening to me. Could only load the 2nd save. Copied 1st save into the 2nd slot since I only had one save anyway. Played Ep4 to the end and it fixed itself, I guess.

But I just checked the "stats" for Ep2 and they're kinda screwed up. Two of them are wrong. Dunno what the hell happened there. I guess it doesn't really matter much. One of them is unimportant now and the other affects Kenny's attitude. Since my response had made him become a jerk towards me from that moment forward and he was still a jerk at the end of Ep4, I guess it may just be the stats that are wrong. (Stats has me siding with Kenny on an issue, but I actually didn't side with him. He still acted as if I hadn't sided with him back then)

thanks that worked! but a patch still is needed for the xbox! and fix those game stutters!

Go to the screen where you load your save file but DON'T actually load it.

Log out of your xbox live account, then log back in immediately. You will be taken back to the home screen. Then try to load it again and it should work.

How have Telltale not responded to this??

Telltale, I'm not a user of your forum. I have only joined to make this post. Searching on here, YOUR COMMUNITY, I am shocked to find that you haven't responded to the posts of your members. What gives?

I'm pretty sure all these people here deserve an explanation, way before I get one.

Be good to your customers. Or they will not be back.

Have you tried anything that the community said would get it working again?

For my xbox, I uninstalled then reinstalled the game. Then I got all my saves back.

I'm having the same problem as the OP if i click my first save it opens the second save which is a new game. If i copy my data over to the second save and open it then the choices i made in ALL of the episodes seem to be the exact opposite of what i actually did.
i have no desire to play this game if i can't even use my saves.

i dont believe multiple saves is the trouble. i only had the one and i cant acess it from my hard drive or USB. i was prepared to suck it up and start over, only to play through episode one without a single save. thats right, not only do i not have my original save, but i cant save again. as it stands, my only hope is to wait for episode five and play through from begining to end. period. thanks tell tale!

Same thing is happening with me. None of my progress is registered, I can't see my stats, and it just keeps telling me to start an episode with random decisions. I don't understand why telltale support is working with the PS3 and PC/Mac gamers, but not even mentioning anything wrong with the Xbox. This is ridiculous... :(

Scary and ridiculous that they noticed the PS3 issue but not the Xbox issues.

Having similar problems with my game. It took me multiple tries to get the game to select my "good" save. Now that I'm going back to try and do my "bad" playthrough it keeps selecting my "good" save. So I'm unable to play on my other save (and get the achievements that were not given to me when I played my "good" save) until they fix this game
