TWD Ep 4 deleted my save game - twice (Xbox 360)

Hi,

I have just d/I'd and installed Ep 4 on my Xbox 360. It has now deleted my save game and taken me back to the beginning of Ep 1.

I had a backup save on cloud but when I tried to load that, it did the exact same thing.

I'm not very pleased about this as I've now got to replay through Ep 1-3 again. I might not bother and dismiss the game altogether now.

Hey there, thanks for reporting this and sorry you're experiencing a save game issue. I'm not sure if this will help, but it's a recommended fix for another issue and might be worth a try.
    1. Remove Episode 4 from the console.
    2. Exit and relaunch the game.
    3. Access the save slot you'd like to play (hopefully this will recognise that you've already completed episode 3).
    4. Replay the final few moments of episode 3.
    5. Now re-download Episode 4 and try loading that save slot again.

I hadn't even finished episode 3 and it did the same thing for me and deleted my save. Recommendations?

This fix still works for me, and I've gotten it to work with ep. 4.

    1.Go into the game.
    2.Log out of your gamertag.
3.Log back in. it should take you to the main game screen and prompt you for a location(cloud or HDD).
    4.It should show up now.

This worked for me after all the episode 2 problems, and it allowed me to access my episode 3 data for episode 4. There are still some weirdness with the decisions at the end of the chapter though...

The post above is good advice, so please give that a try.

Alternatively, there is a known issue where once Episode 4 is installed, only 1 save slot will load. It's possible that the slot being accessed is blank, and therefore loading Episode 1. If you uninstall the Episode 4 pack, can you access all your save slots?

Also, please ensure you have the Title Update. When logged into your profile and connected to Xbox Live, you will be prompted to download a Title Update when you first launch the Walking Dead. This Title Update will be erased if you clear your system cache, and need to be reinstalled to access episodes other than the first.

That one save slot thing must be what happened to me...

I only have a "slot 3" now (effectively)

My save no longer exists. On trying to load my save, it started the game at episode 1 and then saved over my existing save, effectively putting me back to the beginning of ep 1. I will not be playing this through again, have wasted 400 points on ep 4 and will not be purchasing ep 5.

Unfortunately, the same thing just happened to me twice. I played up through Episode 4 and then went to play it one day and it started me all over at episode 1.

Then, thinking I must have hit a wrong button, I played all the way back through again and made it about halfway through episode 5. I went to finish the game today and it did it again...erased everything and back to level one upon hitting "play."

While I loved the game, unless this is fixed, I'll never play it again. I put in many hours because I wanted to play through using the choices I made. So when it got deleted, it just turned me off to the whole game. Really a bummer :(

@Way2ThetOp: Make sure you vote in this thread...
    http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40240&page=5

Telltale games insists it is just user error causing save games to be corrupted. They also say they've patched this problem and it shouldn't affect gamers any more.

The more people that vote in that thread should result in more scrutiny on the fact that their game remains broken. Or I guess Telltale will just ignore that thread since ignorance is a convenient and free solution for them.
