Marty's Nick-Name Help

This is a minor gripe, but in the first game, I chose Michael Corleone to be what people in Hill Valley call me, and now, in game 2, everyone is calling me Mr. Crocket.

As much as I've enjoyed the game, this small bug has kind of taken me out of the experience and I was wondering if there's a work around or a way to import game 1's data into game 2.

I have the steam versions of both 1 and 2.

It was weird. I chose Michael Corleone, but my brother-in-law was the last to play episode 1 on my computer and he chose Harry Callahan. Most people called me "Harry Callahan", but I was called by both of the other two names - mostly by Edna (in fact, "Sonny Crockett" came up more than Michael Corleone - the one name neither of us chose.)

At some point I've been called all the different names. This totally doesn't work as intended.

How can the game recognize the name chosen in the first episode?

It stores Marty's alias in the registry (Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\BTTF for the TTG version, don't know about Steam, don't even ask me about Macs)

However, I've heard of a lot of problems with this. Maybe someone who has this problem with the name should check to see what the Player Alias registry entry says for them. Maybe there's more than one entry or something.

In my case I hadn't even played episode 1 on my current Windows installation since my harddrive broke down two weeks ago and I had to start over from scratch with a new harddrive and a new installation. Consequently there were no entries in the Windows registry, nor any old save games, that episode 2 could fetch my name in episode 1 from!

I was referred to as "Callahan" most of the time, but Edna still called me "Crockett" at least once! I can't remember if the name "Michael" was used though; it's quite possible that it was, but that I didn't react to it (as it is M.J. Fox's real name - that makes "Michael" and "Marty" kind of interchangeable in my subconsciousness, when referring to this character).

It's stored in ~/Library/Preferences/com.TelltaleGames.Platform.plist with key "BTTF:Player Alias"

Checking this now, I've got just the one Player Alias set to "Harry Calahan". However, I only played through the first episode once and was Michael Corleone, so either it saved improperly or something (second episode installation? starting second episode?) overwrote it. I'm not done with the second episode yet, but I've been referred to mostly as Callahan, but once as Crockett by Edna.

If anyone else needs to, know that simply changing the entry in the registry does work. I switched mine to "Michael Corleone" and was thereafter referred to as that.

what if you change the name into something else like geek or something would that work?

Working as intended except that one Time with Edna.

Come on Michael Corleone is the best a name out of the list, its just to awsome not to use XD

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. Harry Callahan is the most suited name seeing as he was played by Clint Eastwood which, in turn, draws a parallel with the alias chosen in Back to the Future Part III.

I hope this particular bug gets squashed before the bonus DVD comes out.

It does this from time to time on the PS3 version as well. What gets me is that the gangsters get your name right when they SHOULDN'T perceive you as the same person.

Actually, you never told them your "name" before actually meeting with them in disguise.

I have the IOS version and it calls me Sonny Crockett most of the time even though I chose Micheal Corleone. Any way to fix this on an IPad?

I uninstalled and re-installed all 5 episodes at once. Tried playing it again starting with episode 1. I even saved directly after choosing the name. Episode 2 still can't get it right. Insists that I'm Sonny Crockett.

I can confirm this bug still perpetuates into the new re-released iOS version, where all the episodes are contained in one app. STILL no fix from TT even after 3 years?
