Will the forthcoming Walking Dead Disc edition be region-locked?

Hi,

I have a PAL Xbox 360 with no internet connection available, and I am super keen to play The Walking Dead. Will I be able to play the December-released disc on my PAL console?

Thanks for your time!

Unfortunately, the retail version will be NTSC only.

Hi Matt, thanks for your answer.

Does that mean the game has been actually region-locked to not work outside of the US/Canada? Most 360 games are not region-locked and will work on all types, despite being NTSC (Assassin's Creed 3 is a recent example, but there are many).

Are you able to answer this at your end, by any chance, please, just confirm absolutely that there is definitely no point in me ordering this disc? Thanks!

Also will you guys be taking orders of the box set directly from your website? Thanks!

I do not believe the disc itself will be region locked, however being NTSC only you may experience a large number of issues trying to play the game outside of the US. I have been told that if you have a US console that you are using outside the country, you should be able to play the disc. However, you mention not having an internet connection. Please be aware that even if the game does work, we have released Title Updates for this game that you will not be able to get without going online at least once.

We won't be distributing the retail version of the Walking Dead directly. To acquire the disc, you can pre-order or purchase directly from all major retail distributors in the US.

You shouldn't experience any issues playing an NTSC game outside of the USA provided it is region free.

PAL and NTSC stopping being an issue a LONG time ago. The vast majority of televisions can handle both signals, as can the Xbox 360, so the only 'issue' you may run into is trying to trade the game in as some store will only accept 'their region'.

All I hope is that you manage to solve the brightness setting being ignored and the save issues.
