Unable to verify

I bought the game twau, but when I click on the installer it says something along the lines of needing to contact the application vendor to verify that the software is a valid Windows Installer package. How do I get the game to run?

That's most likely a corrupt download.
What security software is installed on your system and what is the version information?

  • I have Norton Internet Security and it's version 20.4.0.40 but I could be wrong on what version it is.

That's interesting, because here's the same issue with a Norton user. I wasn't able to reproduce it yet with the same software you are using, but maybe I missed some detail.

I suggest you try downloading it during a clean boot.

    Booting clean in Windows XP:
    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type msconfig --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI file
    4. Uncheck Process WIN.INI file
    5. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    6. Click on the Services tab
    7. At the bottom, check Hide All Microsoft Services
    8. Click Disable All
    10. Click OK
    11. Click Restart
    12. After reboot, run the download to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your settings by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type msconfig--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click OK
    4. Click YES, when asked to restart your computer

Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    8. Click on OK
    9. Click Restart.
    10. After reboot, run the download to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your settings by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

Awesome. Did Norton show any message when the download broke before, or is there anything in its scan log files?

  • Yes, a message popped up during the last few moment of the downloading, interrupting it, to say that the file was safe.
