What is the Exile?
Im not sure if this was explained anywhere else but Im really curious. Why where the fables exiled? Who or what exiled them? Is the event of the exile supposed to be vague and mysterious to the player or was it ever explained?

Exile means to be away from one's home (i.e. city, state or country), while either being explicitly refused permission to return and/or being threatened with imprisonment or death upon return. -Wikipedia.org
Something hungry for power and ambition so-called "The Adversary" invaded the Fables Homelands. The event of the exile is supposed to be for the Fables what for us "humans" is supposed to be a story from The Bible.
Not exactly, that implies that the Exile occurred to people generations past and no-one is sure if it happened or not. The same fables we see in this story lived through the Exile, usually in fairly traumatising circumstances, and have absolutely no doubt as to whether or why they were driven out. They are refugees, basically, driven out of their homes by a war-mongering expansionist empire led by The Adversary. Join or die was the creed, though some didn't even get that option.
