He is still around in Fables (for a time), so no he wont die in this prequel series.

That's the only flaw with a prequel, it limits the amount of thought we can put into theories just by knowing who's around later.
For those around later there can only be one theory that involves them. The only ones with it are Crane and Bluebeard though. Money and power.
