So i have just finished chapter 2. On the beginning of chapter 3 it turns out that all of the choices that i have made are mixed.

I don't know how that happened, but you have prefs.prop files everywhere, which will confuse the game.

Please rename the prefs.prop files in
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead102
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead103
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead104
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead105
    and
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead106
    to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate them.

Then check if the stats of the episodes are correct.

If they are not, you can try replacing the prefs.prop in
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
    With the one from
    E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead102

  • Ok, it worked. Thanks a lot !

  • I've got another problem though. After relaunching the game I tried to continue, but it shows me the save right before ending chapter 3, where in reality I am already in chapter 4. Here's another thing - When i load the elder save and finish the chapter i start right when I finished in chapter 4. I am really confused.
P.S I own Steam version of TWD

Not sure what happened in between but now the game is on a different drive, and there are also prefs.prop files in these folders which don't belong there:
    F:\Steamgames\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead102
    F:\Steamgames\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead103

I deleted all these prefs.prop files, but there is no diffrence.

I wish I could help more, but it's possible that your savegames are inconsistent and can not be recovered.
    Some background:
Besides decision information and settings, the prefs.prop contains information connecting the save slots to the individual .save files.
Since the game is loading an older savegame you might have more luck by using one of the other prefs.prop files. You can try copying each one of them to
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
individually to see if you can load the savegame correctly.

Most of these pref.prop savegame issues can be worked around if it just happened and the game has not been played much since, but if it is as extreme as in your case, with prefs.prop files all over the place, that's beyond my comprehension of the games save system.

So I took your advice and copied pref.prop from

    F:\Steamgames\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead104

    to

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

It works fine for me now, but I've got one more question. Is this save file corrupted and will I be able to use it correctly in season 2?
Anyway thanks a lot for your time and helpful advices. Cheers!

I am glad it worked so far. There's no way for me to know if the save files are corrupted.
I don't know how season 2 will access the previous choices yet. It might access the individual .save files or just the prefs.prop. If it just needs the prefs.prop, and your choices are shown correctly in the stats for each episode, it most likely won't matter what happened otherwise to the .save files.

Having the same problem- mixed up choices.

I decided to kill the brothers and steal the food, but in Ch. 3's "previously", it played me refusing to steal the food. I went back to look at my stats and they aren't there for Ch. 2 but are correct for Ch. 1. When I go to rewind, it wants to take me quite a long way back: to chapter 4: dinner.

    Please rename the prefs.prop in
    E:\My Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
    to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

    Then move the prefs.prop from
    E:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\WalkingDead102
