  • Hi November 15, it's the same for me. The unofficial solution didn't work for me too and I think it's a shame to propose an unofficial solution for a game developpement company. Guys you are developpers it's your job to fix your bugs and propose YOUR solution, an official one. And don't ignore your consummers please. We all bought this game because we trusted you and know you just stole our money

I'm sorry you are having this issue. This is something we are actively working on. In the meantime we can only recommend what has worked for others in the past. The unofficial workaround makes the iOS device go to a different server than it normally would. If that did not work, its because the problem occurred on the next server as well. From what we can tell, it matters where a person is, so we are only able to suggest trying wifi in a different location.

  • Hey, it is November 20th 2013, I was wondering if the coming soon problem was fixed for ipad?

  • I just got this today, and purchased episodes 2-5 plus 400 days and I cannot download or play the purchased content either. Please advised on a ETA for a fix or I will need to contact Apple for a refund.

  • Does it really work?
Want to use a program Hotspot Shield VPN

  • For me it doesn't work, I tried to connect to different tunnels in Canada and east/west coast of the US. I'm still on iOS 6, it doesn't seem like an iOS 7 only problem.

  • They just posted an update saying they had found a fix for the UNAVAILABLE error but they haven't said what the problem was. No word yet on the next problem everyone is having of not being able to download the episodes now that they are AVAILABLE.

  • uugh paid $25 for the pack and now I can't download episode 3 after 5 attempts. Bloody waste of my bandwidth as well since it seems to crap the bed at 96% every single time! Wished you guys notified us of this issue in some popup window before you suckered us into paying.

I just wanted to add an update that we have released a new update (available through the App store) that will resolve this issue for most users. If you are still encountering this issue, please shut down your game application, open the App Store application and select The Walking Dead v1.6 upgrade. Once your app has been updated, fully shut down and restart your device, launch the game application and try downloading again.

  • It still doesn't work. I keep getting 'Purchase could not be completed.'

The issue you are having is not related to the one being discussed in this thread. If you are unable to complete your purchase, this implies an issue with your iTunes account or your payment method. Please make sure you have not enabled restrictions on In-app purchases on your device, or contact Apple Support for further assistance, as all purchases go through the App Store.

  • @MattP - it doesn't work - I bought the game on the 28th, so it would've been the latest version... and it's not there in updates.

The VPN fix doesn't work either.. seriously.. this is not fun at all.. I'm totally loosing my buzz about this game... It seems the only way to get the episodes I paid for will be to crack it, and that just sucks..

well, i think i am the only one who had this issue..!
i've been frustrating to downloading again and again and again and again.

TELLTALE : IF THE EPISODE DOWNLOAD IS FAILED, WHY IT DIDN'T SAVE THE PREVIOUS DOWNLOAD????
I've already download at 72%, and then it keep said that the connection was lost. FYI, i don't have any connection issues here!

and WHY THIS GAMES CANNOT DO BACKGROUND DOWNLOAD??!?!?

i have to keep my ipad charged all the time. but when it's already downloading at 72%, the IT SAID THE CONNECTION WAS LOST!

    --EDIT--
i tried downloading with hotspot shield vpn, but it still not working. ($)&#($&#$)(#

  • it didn't work on me too. i'm so done trying downloading...!!!!!!!

  • That worked for me too. Restart. An IPad issue with a windows solution :-).The VPN trick did nothing for me.

I had this same problem turned off my ipad and then tried to download and it worked.

  • I've been trying to get episode 2 of season 1 for about 24hrs now. Still no luck. What surprises me is the lack of download progress saving I.e. just continueing from where the download stopped. Was this an oversight at telltale? Or a software limitation of iOS? I reckon it's the latter.

Still there should be some alternative to in app downloading?

  • Thank you so much @Igordnt This worked im enjoying watching my episode 2 load. Its at 50 percent!! cant wait

Just bought these episodes as well, frustrated, not downloading, then tells me my connection is the problem. THIS is obviously NOT the case.

Why would you let us purchase something you KNOW does not work?!?!?!!? So i just wasted $20, that you're supposedly not responsible to refund?????

Either FIX this problem, or REMOVE your Dis-functional app from the appstore. Either way, im looking to get my money back. This problem is obviously been around a while, and they do not intend on fixing it.

~ticked off, and not a future repeat, customer

  • That's not my issue, I paid thru the app everything says purchased and it's not doing anything. @igordnt

  • My games say installed but won't oprn

If you have installed Episodes 2-5 to your mobile device, you can play them by tapping the Play button on the main menu, then once you are on the Chapter Select screen, scroll to the right until you reach the episode you wish to play, then tap on that episode. If you experience any issues starting the episode, such as the game crashing, please try closing the game and all other applications running in the background. This should free up necessary system resources. (To close an app running in the background on iOS 6 and before: double tap the home button to make all running apps appear at the bottom of the screen, hold down on an app you wish to close and red buttons will appear, tap the red buttons to close the apps. If on iOS 7/8, double tap the home button and swipe up on the open apps to close them) Also, please turn off your iOS device for at least three minutes before attempting to play the game again. This will allow the device’s cache to clear.

Then after restarting your device, please reset the WiFi by turning the WiFi Settings Off, and back On again. Then try starting the game application again, and see if you are able to successfully play your downloaded episodes.

If you are still experiencing the issue, can you please clarify what device you are playing on in particular?

I apologize, can you please clarify if you purchased Episodes 2-5, as well as 400 Days, or did you purchase 400 Days individually? If you have purchased and installed any episodes after Episode 1, you will be able to play them by tapping Play at the main menu, choosing a save slot, then on the Chapter Select screen, you should be able to either swipe left, or hit the Right arrow at the top right of the screen to scroll to the later episodes, then tap on them to play them.

  • I only bought the 400 days. But I uninstalled then reinstalled the app, thinking that would help. And now it doesn't show that I have purchased the 400 days. It has buy beside everything. I tried the restore option and nothing happens. Thanks.

  • I spotted this problem with my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.5). I've just finished the first episode, so I started the download of the others (already bought with the complete package, "400 Days" included); it's the second time that I start to download the episode 2, but when it reach 97-98% of downloaded data the application quits...
I read this discussion from the beginning, but I've not read about a solution (except for iPad or iPhone) or am I that I have not found it (english is not my main language)...

    Is there a solution???

If you are still unable to restore your purchase(s) by following the steps in the workaround thread, please try proceeding through the purchase path to purchase Multi-Pack again, then when you are prompted, enter your password. As long as you are logging into the same Apple account that you originally purchased the game application with, you should be able to tap 'Buy' when it says “Confirm your in-app purchase”, and you will receive a pop up saying “You’ve already purchased this. Would you like to get it again for free?” and tap OK.

I recommend resetting your Wireless Access Point for your WiFi network, then connect again after it has finished resetting, then try downloading the episode again, and see if you are able to have a better connection with our servers to be able to download the episode successfully.

@TelltaleMike thanks for your immediate response, but I spotted another problem following that thread so I can't download the episodes yet.

I tried with "Automatic Download" and "Semi-automatic Download", the python scripts run both but the download continue to fail and the window shows this message continuously:

    Downloading: WalkingDead102/7_mac_shaders.ttarch (13.38 MB)
    Checking: WalkingDead102/7_mac_shaders.ttarch
    WalkingDead102/7_mac_shaders.ttarch is invalid.

I tried also with "Manual Download" but when I click one of the MAC links ("*.ttarchs") the browser shows "Access denied" error on a XML page...

    Have you any suggestions???

  • @TelltaleMike don't worry! I've just downloaded the second episode by your updated links for manual installation, it seems ok.
Another question.. When you say "delete the Temp files from: Mac: ~/Library/.../...", do you intend to remove also the hidden files?

I believe it means to delete any and all Temp files from the folder, including the hidden ones. I have checked my local file directory, and I do not have any files in the Temp folder. After doing so, you should be able to proceed through the rest of the steps to be able to play the episodes successfully.
