Woops didnt see the answer, i dont know what happened, but by restarting my pc, the game loaded my save files, BUT...... in the first video th… moreat shows my past decisions with Lee, somethings werent show as what i did (specially killing the first brother of the dairy with the fork) is that normal?
Actually some compatibility modes can make the game crash or stutter. There are some TWD S1 crashes in your event log that look like they are caused by a certain compatibility mode setting.
Please check the properties of the Steam.exe, your Steam icons, and the games .exe files, and disable any compatibility mode settings.
Sometimes compatibility mode is checked, but is grayed out. Then you have to click on "Change settings for all users" at the bottom to disable the checkbox.
Afterwards try if the game works.
If you made absolutely sure, that the method mentioned above didn't work to disable it, you can try disabling it in the registry. Then restart the computer and try running the game again.
As for your savegames, both savegame folders look like a weird mix of season 1 and season 2 files which won't work.
You can try the "restore previous version" feature (right click, "properties", "restore previous version") on both savegame folders. If there are multiple versions try restoring each of them starting with the latest, to find one with only a prefs.prop, .save and a syncfs folder in them. If the prefs.prop is much bigger than 10KB chances are best it's the correct set of savefiles.
To be clear please try this on each of these folders:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
%PUBLIC%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
This is probably a moot point. In trying to get Season 1 to run through Steam off of compatability mode (it won't but I can start it from the… more folder and it works fine), the game has over-written the file that detects the saved games that are still there and now it won't see that I had save files for all of Season 1 despite the ton of them in the folder.
I'm hoping there's some way to get the game to see the saves and so that I can import them, but I'm guessing I'm just going to have to go through the whole of Season 1 and 400 Days all over again and hope that it'll import next time. I'd prefer to have my save games from 1 import as I did have two runs, one I considered 'bad' and another that was 'good'.
I don't see anything unusual about your savefiles.
There's also a folder named
C:\Users\Jim\Desktop\wd pt
which looks like it may contain a playthrough.
Did you ever have any savegame issues with season 1?
I suggest you start season 2 again and check if you see more wrong choices. It shouldn't harm your season 1 files.
You can also replace the savegame folder with the backup folder on your desktop and see what result you get. Make sure not to overwrite or delete anything. Renaming and replacing is safer.
There are files from season 2 in your season 1 savegame folder. What happened?
Also you didn't describe the problem.
If you are playing on steam, please disable steam cloud for TWD (In Steam, right click TWD and select "properties". Open the tab "updates" and remove the checkbox from "Enable Steam cloud synchronization for TWD").

If your saves don't work in season 1, they might be broken.
If you .zip and upload your prefs.prop and all *.save files i can take a look at them.
Please upload it as a single .zip file to an instant filehoster and post the download link.

As far as the questions you asked, I dont think I played in compatibility mode, however it's been a while so I might be wrong. I didnt use any workarounds. It seems my saves arent working in Season 1 either, but I can see the files in the folder?

No, I didn't have any issues with my saves in this playthrough. I restarted S2 over again several times with the save file I want to use but it still isn't working. I don't want to play season 2 with different choices! The backup file on the desktop isn't the one I wanted to play with. I tried out a different save file and it seemed to be importing correctly. Why would the one file I want to use have issues?

Ok now i am officially tired .... i am trying since yesterday to get the saves to work but they won´t. i tried everything from a complete uninstallation, to moving saves around the walkign dead folders... There was not one time(when i tried) where season 2 recognized anything.
i did not use compatibilty mode or any workaround in the past and all of my stats are shown correctly in my season 1 installation.
Season 2 can´t find anything no matter what i try..........
Your saves work for me in season 1 (400 days in slot 1) and i can import them in season 2.
They are in the correct location, so season 2 should be able to import them after you start a game.
If season it still can't find your savegames, please make sure compatibility modes are disabled for it. If you're not playing on steam, ignore the steam specific parts:

Please rename the prefs.prop in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.
That might not help with importing the 400 days saves directly, but if it's there season 1 won't work properly. It is possible that the 400 days progress was not saved in the savegame folder's prefs.prop because of that file. There's no way of merging them together though.
The only thing you could try is playing 400 days again after fixing it. Alternatively you can just start season 2 and see what happens.
I may have found a solution to people having trouble importing their 400 Days save files. This certainly worked for me.
All I did was replay the last chapter of 400 Days (the one with Tavia) and then made sure I sat through the credits. I think that is where I went wrong before. I must have skipped the credits and therefore it did not save the game, which is a bit silly to me.
Yep, i wouldnt be asking if i didnt check that first, seriously thanks for your time with this ;u; (but im still worried about this choices that i have in S1 not being reflected at all in S2) it helps if i post photos?
Did you have any savegame issues in the past?
Did you reinstall the game at some point?
Is there any specific choice that's clearly visible in the stats, but is shown differently in the "previously on" clip?

I found a prefs.prop file that I thought I had copied to my username folder from the public one that was 61 KB and copied that one as well as renaming the folder under the public profile so that it wasn't all lower case. That seems to have done the trick as it allowed my import. The revert seems to have worked. Thanks for the help.
No, steam cloud doesn't have a version history sadly.
You need to disable it because otherwise steam will overwrite the restored savegames with the cloud savegames.
When I load up season two, I try to run the first episode, then I wait for the game to import my save files, but it's unable to find them. I have 69 different save files in my save directory, both in Public, and Username, so I don't get why it won't import them. A little help would be cool!
These savefiles wouldn't even work in season 1. The prefs.prop in your savegame folder is way too small to be valid. Strangely it's even older than the .save files. I don't know what has happened to it.
There's a small chance it might be fixable.
Please disable steam cloud for TWD (In Steam, right click TWD and select "properties". Open the tab "updates" and remove the checkbox from "Enable Steam cloud synchronization for TWD").
Then try the "restore previous version" feature (right click, "properties", "restore previous version") on the savegame folders. Try that on
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

My issue is that the save games are showing up fine but when it comes to seeing the "previously on the walking dead" flashbacks, it shows incorrect decisions. Is this an issue with my save game files which can be fixed by playing through the entire first season over again from a clean install? Or is it a bug on Telltale's end? I can replay the first season but I'd like to be sure it's not a waste of time first.
