  • you do understand that its two different teams making the two different games right? i dont get it, how can this many people just sit around a forum and complain about a game not coming out. sure telltale's pr staff should do their jobb better but still, is this the only game you own? play something else and the game will come out when its done. you complaining wont get the game released earlier. and yeah in my opinion the early month mark is close too but the thing is that there are no real mark. early month is between the 1st and mid month. and one other thing and ive said this before, you've all paid thats true but you paid for the first chapter and knew you were getting the rest of the chapters spread out during 2014. so they havent gone back on their word once yet. and just because i dont agree with your whining doesnt mean i dont want to play it as much as you do, i just dont whine about it. come on people, you got to have more games. play something else meanwhile instead of sitting here crying all day.

  • JImZiii,
I am going to need you to shut the full cup. This may not be the only game I own but it is the only game that I have paid for in full and have not been able to play nor given any information on. If you and Telltale were actually reading people are more pissed about not be informed or told a correct date, and lets be honest you lied about pretty much everything. No one knew that only the first chapter was coming out in 2013, no one would be complaining or brought the game if that was the case.

  • We, the info was "spread out until the summer of 2014" and not "the rest of the chapters spread out during 2014" and were soon hitting the 3 month mark, and if thats the spread of the rest of the episodes it sure as hell wont be done this summer mate.

According to the voice actress for Clem from TWD they do the voice acting about a month before the release of an episode.
Surely the casting and such is done beforehand, but I doubt it would take as many months as this to draft a replacement if anything like this was indeed the case, and a voice actor illness or something which could prevent the work would probably have been communicated.

  • Probably not, but I can see it happening. Consider the following: Telltale hasn't written a serious mystery before - now consider how easy a mystery is to solve if you know of Knox's decalogue and are familiar with literary conventions (modern or otherwise). There's a 40-50% chance that the community really did figure out the reveal and now Telltale is pulling a Mass Effect 3 and is trying to make a new reveal with more ''artistic integrity''.

    Kaihu posted: »

I'm more worried that they had to change the plot significantly as a result of the fanbase working out the mystery straight away. I hope that's not the case.

  • Oh, but you are whining, Jim. Whining about whiners. Most pointless exercise EVER.

  • Dont make jokes because its possible

oh yeah, we can expect another 2 BRAND NEW screenshots and words, like, 'next update => early february' , heheh

  • Maybe one of the voice actors walked away

Ohhhhh that might be expensive for the voice actor. ;)

a voice actor illness or something

Listen to the last episode of "The Devil's Playhouse" because IIRC David Nowlin (Sam) had a massive cold back then. But still he pulled through...

  • Trey Parker once had a bad case of the flu when he had to voice characters on South Park (consider they do this week by week when seasons are in swing) - and the flu killed his voice pretty much. He just got a shot of steroids into his throat, was good to voice, but later couldn't talk for a few days.

    That's dedication.

Why do you voice such opinion if you obviously lack any insight? For starters, this talk has the fragment:

Allison explained that studio members will move between projects as needed. Animators and other developers could work on one episode of The Walking Dead before moving on to create scenery for The Wolf Among Us and then back to Walking Dead again. The team is a series of moving parts that build where things need building at any given time.

    and

"The idea of having four teams working on four different things doesn't exist here," he said. "The way we make the games, it's just not the same. It fits with the way they build the game, the episodic nature and the way they play like television shows. It's not 50 guys working on the same game for 18 months."

Therefore, from dev's aforementioned words, it's clear that those are NOT two seperate teams, and worries about TWD and other games draining Telltale's manpower have legitimacy.

TL;DR: don't claim shit you don't have any idea about as a fact.

Mass Effect 3 ending had some major flaws, but I fail to see why Telltale should really care about guesses from forum they don't even respond to. ;P

And while there are many forumites, but those are but a vocal minority of players. I am quite certain your average player didn't read forums & all theories.

(Though this may be just my bitterness, as I strongly prefer stories with great characters, good, witty dialogues & logical conclusions to 'OMG I never knew murderer was gardener!' ones.)

  • Well there's Puzzlebox browsing the forums. Maybe he/she relayed the news to someone else in the staff and news traveled to the writers who then went ''oh shit, they figured it out, we better change it so that it's still a huge reveal''. Personally, though, I'd prefer the intended reveal because then we'd all feel smart for figuring it out.

  • In an early interview with the Ep1 Lead Writer: Pierre Shorette he implicitly stated that not every part of the plot is fully developed as Ep1 launches but that they kept track of themes and general plot-threads to fall back on "if they stumble into anything".

Unless we're getting a release date within the next 2 weeks I fear that is what happened. Also bear in mind that Telltale Games' writers often alternate in between episodes aka. Ep2 probably wont be written by the same guy. Maybe they aquired a hack or someone who royally screwed up and now the editors and other writers have to rewrite a lot of unexpected stuff.

This is all worst-case scenario-stuff but, who knows.

  • I'm sad to see that apparently Telltale's new year resolutions don't include improving the release date schedule of their games and giving more info to their customers.Too bad.

  • Whatever the reason, I just hope episode 2 is as awesome as the first episode and worth the wait. Expectations are high.

  • I've been lurking these forums for a while now, and the only thing that's inspired me to make an account is sadly, this thread. I'm not here to complain about the wait, and I'm not here to complain about season passes. I will be honest though and say that I came here to complain. There's a really big issue with the video game industry right now where people are becoming more and more complacent with how the industry is becoming less and less transparent. I'm sure the second episode will come out and it will be awesome. I've seen people speculating on this thread that they are spending that time fine-tuning the game; making it just-so so that when we, the consumer, finally get the product a lot of us payed for in advance we will genuinely enjoy it. I'm excited for that day. The problem is that people are speculating. We are actually left to guess whether or not they are working on the game. I can't believe people are happy with saying "They're probably just making the game that much better." The key word there is "probably." You don't know, and with business practices like these, you never will for episodes to come. By all means, if you feel comfortable with that, then buy more. It's your right as a customer.

There is nothing wrong with transparency. There is nothing wrong with saying "We have to fine tune some things so that we can give you our best product." There's nothing wrong with saying "We are pretty busy with our other products, and sadly have to divide our attention among the studio." There is something wrong with saying nothing, because of the moral obligation you have as a business to let the consumer know what they're buying. People like to know what they're buying, and despite what some of you might think, it is not the consumer's responsibility to illuminate that, it's the producers. It's the reason we have ingredients labels on the back of our food. It's a basic moral obligation of anyone who is selling anything to let the customer know what they are buying, and I feel like I've been mislead.

I could have waited this long with some updates from the developers. I don't want vague screen-shots and time-windows like "after the holidays." There's real merit in saying something like "We really can't give a time window right now, because we're afraid of disappointing you, our fans, if that doesn't pan out." I really enjoy this game and am a very patient person. Waiting is something I do not mind doing for quality. I am however extremely disappointed in how this is being handled. I'm not asking to know how the game is made. I'm not asking to see the code or hear what is going wrong with the audio files. I'm just tired of guessing "what could they be doing?" When they could very easily just tell us. If someone at TellTale reads this and just says "Well you're judging us unfairly, you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes." You're right. I don't know what's going on, and therefore I do have a right to appraise this situation based on what's been shown. If knowing what goes on behind the scenes of development would somehow make this all better, (which is what this rant is all about) then tell us. So-far this has been a pretty bad experience for me and probably the most uncomfortable purchase I've made in a while. Despite the wonderful quality and narrative of this game, I'm completely turned off to the idea of buying any other episodic games from TellTale. For a name like TellTale, they sure aren't telling.

  • I have been checking for a date everywhere i saw that The Wolf Among Us Wiki says that the release date is 7th January which is today. Of course i have no hope about today but other sites say that it is Q1 of 2014 and i think it is the most that we are gonna get. I would be happy with a date but still if they said 7th March or something it wouldn' matter anyway, still a wait. I hope it comes out this month because this quarter has January,February and March and it can be one of those months.

  • nope, dont think so

Dont make jokes because its possible

  • Any wikis should never be trusted for release dates, since they can be edited by anyone. Only trust dates that come from Telltale staff on the Telltale forum, on the Telltale blog, on Telltale's twitter, or on gaming websites that have interviews with Telltale staff (but only when those websites have official interviews, as even those websites have tendencies to use untrustworthy placeholder dates).

There haven't been any official time frames released, but the latest news from Telltale's PR person @puzzlebox, just four days ago, is that Telltale have been hard at work on episode two throughout the holiday season, and that they are still working on it now.

    @puzzlebox wrote:
Please be assured that the team is hard at work on Episode 2 of The Wolf Among Us (devs were working through the holidays!), and we'll have further news as it becomes available. We know you're waiting eagerly, and really appreciate your patience as we work to get the next chapter to you!

  • Telltale just signed contracts with Game of Thrones & Bordeland franchises when they can't even keep up with their actual schedule.

Is there any articles regarding that?

I mean, if I was CEO of IGN of any other gaming media, I'd send some people to cover that. Not only it would generate lots of clicks but it would add some pressure. Keeping people informed, isn't that the goal of any journalists? I can't barely see anything substantial in regards to that.

Please share if you do know any article from a relevant media that questions Telltale's methods for real.

Broken record here. When you 'reported' the same thing about TWD2's first episode, nothing happened for weeks.
Telltale submits the final build of the PC episodes mere hours or even minutes before release. And that's that.

  • Well, they started TWD season 2 even if TWAU was delayed, proof that they do not start a new project when one is done. Also, they said themselves that the same team is dividing energies on the two projects (TWAU & TWD).

At the actual rythm, if they did start those projects only when the current ones are done...I presume GOT and TFB would be on next gen...in a hell of a long time, right?
