Force an update to Steam Cloud saves?

edited January 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to force the game to update the Steam Cloud save files? I played through Episode 1 (on a Mac, in case that matters) without the "Enable Steam Cloud sync" option turned on. Now, though, I'm about to do a clean reinstall of my operating system, so I'd like to move the saves to the Steam Cloud, and just turning on that option doesn't seem to have done it: it says "0 bytes stored / 100 MB available". Relaunching the game doesn't seem to cause it to update, and I can't see any options in the menus ... The issue is that I don't want to have to start a new game and have that saved, I want if possible to save my existing game to the Cloud, so I can recover it after I reinstall. (I can and will also copy the saved game folder, but having it in the Cloud seems like a more elegant solution, and an additional layer of backup.)

Any suggestions?

I think steam cloud syncs after you started and stopped the game. Have you tried that?

  • Yep, I've tried that multiple times. I even tried starting a new game and playing far enough into it that I saw some "saving ..." messages. Nothin': the Steam Cloud info still says "0 bytes". Weird.

In that case I would just give up on it for now, because digging into it now doesn't have any real advantage. I would just backup and transfer the savegame folder manually. Who know's, maybe steam cloud will work again after the reinstallation.
