I've pretty much given up Telltale. If this is the way you treat your fans then I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to give you guys my money anymore, no matter how much I've enjoyed your games.

Such a shame, all you'd have to do is have ONE employee take FIVE MINUTES to tell us SOMETHING about what's going on. At least then we'd know that you look at your forums and don't delight in discounting your series' before the second episode, while ignoring the people that payed full price and have been anxiously waiting for months on end.

    It's just really pathetic.

And now The Walking Dead has Wolf Among Us inspired gameplay, neat!

They delayed it a few times, notably in 2012 to add Walking Dead inspired gameplay I recall.

  • Don't worry TellTale, I will always buy your amazing games.

  • I think The Wolf Among Us delay is just a production problem. Telltale has never really had two series releasing in parallel before. They've obviously worked on multiple series at the same time, but to my memory they've only had one series releasing it's episodes at one time. They've had smaller one-shot stuff like Puzzle Agent release midway through the season of something else but not two series.

I think this is just growing pains, they probably had to pull a lot of staff off of Wolf to help launch Walking Dead Season 2. Now that they are both launched they can hopefully redistribute the staff evenly. Telltale always had trouble getting episodes out by the end of the month they were supposed to be out and there is usually a two month gap between the first and second episode. Wolf is an extreme case but I think it has more to do with TWD2 than any Wolf specific problems. But hey at least Telltale manages to release episodic series in a relatively timely manner compared to others like Valve.

  • But I will get them at a discount price because I work with the company....

  • If I order a pizza and it's the best I've ever had but the customer service sucked beyond all belief, you can bet your ass I'm gonna go to the next best pizza place with better customer service. That's because it's not ALL about the product.

  • Hey, how did you know? ;)

But I will get them at a discount price because I work with the company....

  • Unlikely, since some of the theories would not make sense with the larger Fables canon.

I'm more worried that they had to change the plot significantly as a result of the fanbase working out the mystery straight away. I hope that's not the case.

  • i dont care how long Telltale needs to finish episode 2. I know it will be amazing and i will wait with joy for that xD

sorry for my english i´m from austria (and we now what waiting for new episodes (tv) means xP)

  • another day where I come to the site and the forums, another day without information. Awesome job, Telltale...seriously...you guys are just racking up the customer appreciation here ;) anyway! Not surprised. Guess I'll check back in a few days...probably to hear an update about a future update that will be announced "very soon"

Just to chip in, there's a middle ground here, one between fury and acquiescence.

Based on Telltale's reputation they have built up, I took a punt on this game. It was fantastic. I really enjoyed it, and thought it was a brilliant couple of hours - well done chaps, it was amazing. This made me care about the game.

Since then, I've lost interest. It was - literally - months ago. I've tried replaying the game, but it seems pointless. At first, I was checking here every day or two, hoping to find some good news, and since then, I just kinda stopped, as I just don't CARE as much about the story as I did before - all lustre, excitement and intrigue has gone. I'll probably need to replay the first episode to remind myself of subtext and nuance, and as it stands, I CBA to do that. That's not a good thing.

To quote: Telltale were "anticipating another update on its ETA for release very soon after the holidays"
That's expecting an update on an estimated time for release. There's a lot of wriggle-room there, and while in keeping with reasonably expected obligations, is by no means informative.

I appreciate I bought the series on good faith, and I hope not to come across as entitled or demanding - but for me, for an episodic game, this delay - and moreso silence - has killed all enthusiasm and seriously hampered the fun I hoped to get out of this series. That is the problem I have, and I imagine others have - though I might be wrong, it happens a lot: I once called a teacher "Mum".

  • What if, as an apology for the delay, they release episodes 2 & 3!?. Maybe they've been working on them this whole time, but wanted TWD to be the priority. Anyways, I think it would be a good move if they did that, hey a guy can dream...

  • The thing is people can handle episodic structure, but we like to know that it will happen every week, every 2 weeks or every month. If you are going to use episodic structures you need to be consistent and release the episodes when you say you will or people will lose interest in the story.

After knowing that The Wolf Among Us Season pass is already being given discount as well as Ep1 without Ep2 being released, there is no way I will buy a season pass now

  • Its not like there is somebody who is happy about all this delay thing, but seriously, its clear that the developers run into some big troubles. Do you think that it would be better if they said something like: OK, here is refund and yes we are closing our offices for unknown period of time... ? I mean the games they make are really good, aren't they -_-. Things happen, lets just try to find some patience.

Some people say that explaining what is wrong will make them feel better. I think that in reality those people lie to themselves. Think about it, if they say: "Ye, we screwed the things up(there is this that and that and also this.. issue), so we don't really know when the ep is gonna be ready." Community will say that well, bad planning, too lazy too irresponsible, wtf you doing ppl. If they tell you some random release date, and then it will be clear that its not gonna be released yet, it will again be more or less same opinion... So the silence maybe the best response, since there is no good one.

  • I am not saying anything here. He just asked where is the info is from.
It could be a bugfix for the engine they run on, or maybe testings are being carried out...I don't know.

But TWD season 2 was updated at the same time. Unless you suppose that episode 2 of season 2 is ready...

  • edited January 2014

Nope, I'd be happy with almost any response.

People can be quick to forgive mistakes, but the silence makes Telltale feel pompous, like "They'll buy and enjoy the game anyway, so what do we care?", or like they don't care about TWAU because they're doing TWD and that's all they really want to focus on.

We just want a freaking apology and an HONEST estimation of release. I don't mind waiting, I mind being lied to about updates and release dates or just being completely ignored.

  • So apparently my earlier comment was flagged as trolling (it DEFINITELY wasn't), so instead of further ruffling the feathers of whatever mod decided my comment was inappropriate (I would LOVE to speak to them btw, especially after all the vitriolic content I've seen here that hasn't been flagged) I'm just going to post this here http://www.telltalegames.com/company/about

I'm tickled that a mod would try to silence me for posting information that I got from TTG's website.

I'm not going to ban you for posting information on the site. However, I ask that you not encourage users to call a number listed that very plainly and in no ambiguous terms asks for "business inquiries only." Contrary to what you are trying to get others to believe, I'm sure complaints about the Episode 2 wait - no matter how reasonable or unreasonable they may be, are not the "business inquiries" they are looking for.

As for posts not being flagged, just give us a PM if you need anything. It will reach us much quicker than flagging a post for now.

  • Alright, that's fair enough, but the business inquiry comment was more in line with getting transparency for consumers, not because episode 2 isn't here yet. My train of thought was letting higher ups know that more transparency in their company would be greatly appreciated (which I think is a legitimate business concern), but I'm pretty sure the tone of my post didn't reflect that. Thanks for the explanation though.

Thanks for understanding and being polite about it. Don't worry, I'm not vilifying you for wanting to be talked to. I have absolutely no problem with you trying to get attention as long as you do so through the proper channels. Instead of calling the CEO, I would say that you could leave them an email or post feedback in the support forums (I'm just a community volunteer mod so those are just my personal ideas anyways).

As for what you said about "vitriolic comments," I'm not just saying you should PM Mods as lip service. I'd genuinely like to hear if people have been bothering you or others, but until the flag system gets improved for mods, we currently don't have much to work with unless it is brought to our attention from users themselves.

I'm seeing a new marketing strategy for Telltale.

You know that saying "time is money"? Consider any game you paid full price for that whizzed by - done and gone in hours. Expensive game. Telltale is dedicated to stretching the entertainment value of their customers' money. Hours? Think YEARS! Best value on the market!

    Shoot me...please.

  • Worry not guys, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 will see a timely release alongside Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3, The Last Guardian and Half-Life 3.

Surely our patience will soon be rewarded.

  • I could forgive a late release date, I really could for a game this quality.

But the fact it has been over a month past it's schedule without a peep.

And also we find that the first episode price has been reduced already without the 2nd episode being released yet... after most of us paying full price for it. It is becoming ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous .

  • I think this post pretty accurately describes what a lot of people here are feeling. There are bound to be some Telltale loyalists out there who will excuse them for anything and everything. I don't think you come across as sounding entitled or demanding. You perfectly pointed out what I've tried to say several times before...how they choose their wording (see: "vague") pretty carefully in their "updates" that end up ultimately saying/telling us little to nothing. It's always updates about further updates that are expected to be made within a general time frame...like "later this month"..."later this month" ends up meaning literally one of the last few days of the month. "Before Christmas" literally ends up being the last possible update days for PSN and Xbox live before Christmas. Saying "EXPECTED to be released later this year" when it's late October, and should be possible to further narrow it down to either November or December. The list goes on and on.

The bottom line is, the games that Telltale makes are amazing...I think we can all agree on that (otherwise we wouldn't be here, right?) but the communication, or "customer service", is ridiculous and makes a lot of people here feel frustrated and unappreciated as paying customers.
