I agree...it seems that their philosophy is "it'll come out when it comes out." even for season one of the walking dead they didn't keep a consistent schedule the whole way through. It was announced that a new episode would be available every month, that's why I was content with buying the season pass. That statement was promptly tossed out of the window, and it generally became "a new episode every other month" which was tolerable because it SEEMED consistent at that rate. Then episode 5 came out around a month-and-a-half after episode 4...I didn't even know it was out until I saw someone posting gameplay videos on YouTube. Hell, even if they announced that TWAU would have a new episode every 3 months, at least we would know WHEN to expect new episodes...even though I think this long of a gap between episodes is way too long.
The thing is people can handle episodic structure, but we like to know that it will happen every week, every 2 weeks or every month. If you a… morere going to use episodic structures you need to be consistent and release the episodes when you say you will or people will lose interest in the story.
After knowing that The Wolf Among Us Season pass is already being given discount as well as Ep1 without Ep2 being released, there is no way I will buy a season pass now
Worry not guys, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 will see a timely release alongside Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3, The Last Guardian and Half-Life 3.
Surely our patience will soon be rewarded.
If I remember correctly, Telltale made no promises regarding how frequently Wolf Among Us episodes would be released. In the past, they have claimed releases on a monthly basis, but I think they shy away from that now because of the outrage fans expressed over the two-month wait between episodes of what ultimately became 2012's Game of the Year according to many publications.
And if you look at the Season One forums of Walking Dead, those hella long wait are all anyone ever talks about now, right?
Now, "The Wolf Among Us" is flirting with a three month wait period between the first two episodes. I agree that this is a serious test of my patience, considering the quality of the game, but seeing as no other company has really offered episodic game content as consistently as Telltale, I have a hard time seeing what your "gold standard" of frequently released episodic content is. Valve? Rockstar Games? If you think I'm being flippant, please clue me in on where your standards are coming from.
The fact that Telltale has been more successful at consistently releasing content than anyone else, and still has problems releasing content on a consistent basis, seems to indicate that episodic video games are extremely difficult to pull off. Video games, even narrative-driven games, are not TV shows, books, or movies. Just as those three mediums have a set of standards regarding the length between episodic releases, so should video games--and Telltale has set the highest standard for that, folks, as much as it may still pain you.
So sit tight. I promise Telltale's Smoke and Mirrors will be here before George RR Martin's Winds of Winter
I think being a big Half-life fan has kind of desensitized me in regards to delayed episodic content. I'm sorry to hear how frustrated some of… more you are, I think it's pretty reasonable, to an extent. I really don't like seeing people fighting with each other just because they have different opinions, it's a forum and everyone should be allowed to say what's on their mind. That goes for both sides.
I'd like to imagine all the delays are caused only by high ambition, although that might not be entirely right.
Either way I'm confident that Telltale are producing another great episode, and I'm very much looking forward to getting some news soon!
Have a nice day everyone!
I've been lurking these forums for a while now, and the only thing that's inspired me to make an account is sadly, this thread. I'm not here t… moreo complain about the wait, and I'm not here to complain about season passes. I will be honest though and say that I came here to complain. There's a really big issue with the video game industry right now where people are becoming more and more complacent with how the industry is becoming less and less transparent. I'm sure the second episode will come out and it will be awesome. I've seen people speculating on this thread that they are spending that time fine-tuning the game; making it just-so so that when we, the consumer, finally get the product a lot of us payed for in advance we will genuinely enjoy it. I'm excited for that day. The problem is that people are speculating. We are actually left to guess whether or not they are working on the game. I can't believe people are happy with saying "They're pro… [view original content]

Without reopening old debates over and over, I will say this; although the delay is most definitely the core of the problem, what seems to be the more common complaint is the lack of communication. People are most certainly annoyed at the wait, but I think they're even more annoyed at having to wait in a contextual vacuum. The wait would likely be more palatable if the folks had a "Coming in the next month/quarter/whatever" or even just a "Hey, we've run into some serious trouble with such-and-such a system, and we just can't get it nailed down. Please stay tuned for coming updates on our progress, so we can be sure to get you the kind of quality product you're expecting." Something to give the wait some context so they're not just twiddling their thumbs in a void.

Slowly, the wait is irritating me... or rather, it isn't as much the wait as uncertainity of it. I am past the hyped about TWAU phase, but I still care somehow. And when we'll three months after last release and they haven't updated us in month, the release date could be as probable on Monday as in next five weeks. This waiting game (will it be today? Tomorrow? Else?) is really unproductive and getting tiresome.
They could at least tell us whether their soon is of days, weeks or months etc. order of magnitude.
I'm sorry I use vulgar terms, I speak the truth. It doesn't take 3 months to polish. Your just sitting here, letting him walk over you. If my company can't be honest with me, they don't DESERVE the respect as a customer.
They insulted each day they promote and IGNORE US FOR MONTH. Isn't that a little disrespectful. How about no release date for walking dead ep 1, how about three months of waiting..you want give them more time...how much fucking time do they need to make a game..
Each you down voted. I rather be less popular saying right thing, then popular for saying wrong thing. Some of you can wait months, not say damn thing. Those speak for against oppression, tryanny and a just horrbile customer service. I'm betting more people then just who fans of tell tale.
I don't know, I've never made a game before, so I'm content to sit back and let Telltale do what they're best at: Make great games when they feel they're done and it's up to standard.
They insulted each day they promote and IGNORE US FOR MONTH. Isn't that a little disrespectful. How about no release date for walking dead ep … more1, how about three months of waiting..you want give them more time...how much fucking time do they need to make a game..
This time table is insane. Most of insane. Tell tale seriously ignores most of community. Then you rush to their aide, though they are clearly in wrong. Can't we say it. Tell Tale fucked up. Now just to admit it and fix it. Anyone says this was a success. You are seriously distorted. No I don't care if you like my post. Wiaitn them hand and foot ont their fourm.
Is not something I plan on doing each ep. I mean for crying out loud. DA Orgins had larger, and more passion fan vase, they still sunk. Don't think it can't happen to Tell Tale..
The point about lack of communication is a fair one. It's a pretty normal occurrence for Telltale to have no word on when the next episode of one of their series will be released, only for an announcement to appear that it's coming in three days or next week or something.
If I understand it correctly, I think this is partially the result of how online console game markets function. Developers need to go through an approval process that can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. In normal game releases, this kind of uncertainty is not much of a concern for most people. With episodic games where people are expecting new content within a shorter timeframe, it can be more problematic.
Still, this doesn't mean Telltale couldn't be more transparent about their own end of the development process (have they submitted it for approval? Are they play testing it? Are they running into problems that may cause further delays?) Those of us who care enough to check these forums would probably be enthralled with even the most tedious of updates.
I will certainly defend the work of Telltale's development team. I trust they are doing their best to deliver a quality product in a timely manner, and I'm willing to afford them delays if it means making the series as good as it should be. I cannot, however, defend Telltale's PR efforts. After seeing unannounced delays followed by player outrage during every release cycle, you might hope they would make more of an effort to address these annoyances.
Let's not forget Telltale is making a series that we love, which is why we're so impatient in the first place. In the meantime, I'm going to play some other games. "Smoke and Mirrors" will come when it comes, and it will almost certainly be good.
(Please, Telltale, give me something about this before the weekend. You're killing me here)
oh please, there's no glitch. Att all. Stop being a Republican try to fear everyone into thinking unless done their way,
They say nothing to us, not a word for three months. Nothing , walking dead. Again not a word. We didn't know it was out till the date. This isn't Fox News, you can't scare everyone to death.

Your right. This Friday their going give release date at end of the month. Tell Tale get your SHIT in order. Obviously you need more help. Because It's looking horrible for you at the moment. I'm not going forget this, personally I think more PC gamers mags should do ARTICLE on this rage.
seriously dude, take a break from raging? It doesnt help TTG that you're raging. I can tell that I'm tired of waiting, and getting impatient now, but so what? Play some other games while you're waiting. One day your steam (if your game is there) the steam will update your game.

You all really need to get a handle on that rage of yours. TTG did NOT promise us a date to deliver the next episode, they simply gave an indication as to how frequently they would like to release episodes. The company is growing, they are taking on more work + they have TWD 2 to consider + others in the pipeline.
Granted, the communication could be tad better however they do not have an obligation to send out status updates either.
What TTG has shown time & time & time again is that they deliver quality. If they didn't - then people would not be angry that they've taken this long to release Epi. 2
The long and short of it is, when they deliver the game and the quality is not up to scratch, then you can rage all you want. Until then - sit back and wait for it to be released.
Oh well, at least their silent treatment has taught me one thing: I'll never buy a season pass for any of their games again. I'll wait until
all episodes are released next time I plan on spending money on another Telltale game.

It was Mass Effect 3 that ruined RPGs for me, but TWD that brought me back. That's why I have my fingers crossed before the release of ep2 for TWD and TWAU.
