  • Bad example?

Let's be realistic - we're not waiting 7 or even 10 years here. They released TWD S2 in Dec. They gave us an update on TWAU in Dec.

It's not like there is no communication at all.

You're not really comparing apples with apples nor are you making a valid point.

I agreed that communication could be a little better however they gave us an update in Dec.

They are late with the next update which was promised in early Jan however we're still technically in early Jan so update could be here any moment.

You're right, they have no obligation to send us status updates one way or the other. And I have no obligation to not spit at people's feet

  • And update, yes, but that update said roughly that there would be another update on an ETA, which is essentially just an update.

Technically, yes, but it's cutting close to the 15th, and then it'll be mid January.

    Me neither.

  • Who knows..the "update" may be an update to TWAU i.e. Episode 2.

They did it with TWD S2....bang here you go guys. No comms nothing...it just appeared.

As I said before and I will say it again...

Exactly, how hard is it to have one person take a few minutes of their time to explain what is going on? That's all I want and really care about. If they even remotely cared they would have done it by now.

  • Early January is over for me and as expected still no update :(

  • I'm sorry, no. I play RPGs and I shan't have someone erroneously call an adventure game an RPG because it's factually incorrect.

Right...they didn't promise us a date for episode 2, but a date for everything to be finished (summer 2014)

So don't curcify them until they fail to get the entire game done 'til the end of Summer 2014. Then I deliver the boards and nails and rent a public place to crucify them.

They should actually worry about this sentence in the description of the seasonpass, as if they fail to meet this time frame, they will end with a big legal problem.

  • Oh, I play RPGs too (both cRPGs and pen-and-paper), I know TWD is adventure game, but then again I understand why someone could consider TWD RPG-like. Just don't feel like it's important enough to argue over.

(Also, I wouldn't mind Telltale's experimenting later on and creating actual RPG but that's entirely different matter.)

  • I agree with you. Wait for the whole game to be released and download it all at once AND get it for a discounted price. Sometimes the only way a company will realise that a client is dissatisfied is to close your wallet on them.

Oh well, at least their silent treatment has taught me one thing: I'll never buy a season pass for any of their games again. I'll wait until all episodes are released next time I plan on spending money on another Telltale game.

  • it will come end of this week

  • ...Well, personally i don't mind waiting another (week? two?), IF 2nd episode will be twice as long as first one :)

  • TWAU > TWD for me. For me TWAU ep1 was a 9 or a 10 out of 10. Maybe the delay is because they are putting more effort in to try and get ep2 on the same standard as ep1.

  • I think it will worth the wait

  • While we're waiting I made a video of some funny moments in the game. I'm bored :\

  • This is against TelLL tale, no one has valls to say they been doing. I will before youf roget.

Hey remember when being a douchebag was cool and solved all the world's problems? Me neither.

  • Im not angry but I think the telltale shoud tell us that it will take a while

  • I often read this but it is not entirely true. First it's not 'Sometimes'... The only way any company realizes something is when the money stops flowing. But even more important: You have to state your personal reason why you did not (or waited to) buy a specific product. Without you giving a reason the simple act is worthless, if you intended to change something. Because they just have to guess why didn't buy it: "Didn't the customer like it", "Was the competition better?", and so forth.

And the message needs to be more personal that just a forum entry. Statistically most people who use the forum are mad because of something. You rarely read forum entries like "Hey guys fantastic job, keep on". So the general 'mood' in a forum for a game is negative. That means that forums are full of posts like "I'll never buy anything ever again from you". So send an email or even better a letter, good old fashioned :)

I really like Telltale and I think that TWAU is their best game so far and I personally have no problem with the delay, till now. But if you really want to express your opinion write a letter or an email. Tell them why you're going to buy the next game only when it's fully released. Put a bit of effort in it and don't be offensive. I personally think that thousands of emails or letters, all stating the same problem have a greater effect than thousands of post entries in a forum.

I respect your post, but to say that their communication could be "a tad better" is quite an understatement, in my opinion. If your forums are full of posts in which customers are practically begging you for an update about the game, or even an explanation as to why there has been such a long delay...I would think the least Telltale could do is listen to their paying customers and indulge them with what they're asking. Honestly, it's not like anyone here is asking for much. The vague updates which really say nothing other than "there will be an update soon" really gets on people's nerves. Even if they would just set aside one day every two weeks to provide status updates, I think you'd see a lot less people here venting. If people knew that they could come to this site and find an update every other Tuesday or whatever, then people would know exactly when they would get updates/news. Instead, some people come here every day hoping to see some news or an update and they get disappointed when there isn't anything new to be learned. Telltale seem to be so sporadic and vague with their updates now that it's increasingly frustrating.

Again, I respect your post, but with episodic games there needs to be consistency. If there's not, people lose interest or forget what even happened in the previous episode. I honestly think 2 months is about the most you can stretch out releases for an episodic game. A new episode every month would be ideal, but that's a lot of pressure...as we saw with the first season of TWD. If they could stick to a new episode every other month, I think everyone would be content. If they had TWD release one month, then TWAU the next month, people wouldn't have reason to complain, I suspect. As others have said, though...best-case scenario at this point is that TWAU is released at some point this month...but waiting 3 months to play a game that will probably last about 2 hours is pretty messed up.

Honestly, I think they're taking on more than they can handle at the moment. They're supposed to be working on The Walking Dead: Season 2, The Wolf Among Us, Borderlands, and Game of Thrones? They've got a lot on their plate right now but I think they can pull it off. The lack of communication with the fans is pretty upsetting though.

  • at this point i think they had to re write the story a bit.

  • I think it's partly due to the holidays, partly due to launching TWD season 2, and partly due to Telltale's surging popularity and wanting to make sure they output a quality product (at least moreso than before).

Normally I'd be angry, but I think Telltale has stepped up their game and are now giving us episodes that are worth waiting over a month for. They could definitely be more transparent though.
