Just by that comment you have no idea of what you're even talking about. Everybody please ignore him, he's just a troll seeking attention.

Maybe it's because, as far as anyone knows, you're pulling it out of your rear. I'm not saying that you ARE, just that it's suspect. Anyone can say "I have an inside source! It's going to be XXXXXX!!!" doesn't mean it's true. You offer no proof and it seems, based on people's reaction, no track record. Only at best hearsay. Which is all it can be until TTG says something. Don't get annoyed if people don't trust it.
Also you're saying they're not telling people anything because of how far off the date is from the board's expectations? That's ridiculous, to me anyway. So people will be less annoyed if they don't say anything for four months rather than say "Gonna be in late Feb, sorry. We're doing our best"? If that's actually what TTG thinks... they need to fire their whole public relations team.

  • Then good for you, you were right.

  • I'm in favor of it coming out when it's done. If that's March, then great. I don't want to have a buggy experience when I get it on day 1. I heard a lot of critics complaining about TT games being buggy. I haven't experienced that (I play on PC), but long term a reputation for buggy releases hurts TT's reputation.

  • But you're not from Telltale. For all we know you are a troll trying to toy with people. Yet we should believe you because you have a "source"?

Developmental delays are fine but when you have an episodic release schedule you need to keep your community informed otherwise they will (and by now have) begin mistrusting the company. I know I never plan to pre-order a Telltale game again after this experience. And probably will not purchase the games until they have released at least 3 episodes.

In my experience on pc there are always very subtle bugs and glitches. Telltale console games really run horribly though, stutter between transitions and get choppy at seemingly random times, the same goes for lower end pc's.

  • you all owe me a big apology seriously, i joined just today to tell you something which i knew. I could have trolled you people back in holidays when everyone was guessing the dates... huh...

I'd say that too but I know if I can pick up a season pass for as cheap as I did WDS2... I'd do it in a heartbeat. The wait doesn't bother me and I enjoy these boards more than I probably should.

  • The fact that the reason they're delaying it is because they want to make sure their future release schedule goes as planned, and it's not some major development issue like people are speculating, and they don't think the fact that they're holding it and it's been done for a while will be received well.

    This is my guess.

  • I've been with Telltale awhile. I'm familiar with delays. I would be very disappointed if this situation were allowed to continue for another two months, without communication.

  • I think that's a pretty good indication of how ridiculous the release has become, when we genuinely need that "Previously on..." to remember everything that happened.

I sure hope there's a "Previously On TWAU" before Ep 2... It's been so long I don't remember anything that happened. 3 months is WAY too long between episodes...and still no word on how much longer.

  • This is getting out of hand. what could possibly make ep 2 THIS delayed? i honestly just think they have put more of their work force on TWD. damn it telltale, you used to be cool

That's as likely as anything or they've run into some odd character rights issue that for some reason wasn't expected or something else so completely unexpected outside of the game itself... hell, maybe they really are scrambling to change who the killer is (not that I think it's ever been the Soulless Ginger, personally, that would be WAY too obvious).
I have problems with the "major development issue theory". They've been using Telltale Tool for so long now, with occasional upgrades and I doubt there's been anything major done to it since WDs1, that I don't see how they could not have it ironed out yet to where something like that would go unnoticed this late in the development cycle. Just, to me anyway, it seems that with any possible major issue it could have they should be so well-versed in it's capabilities that they should anticipate them long in advance.
I could be way off base but if you work with something long enough, and a decade is long enough, there shouldn't be any major surprises like that. Since I suck at coding and implementation I'm really just talking out of my ass.

  • Danish. Beowulf is a Danish epic.

The movie is based off of an old English epic

  • You know how I know you're lying? Official TT reps have said that they're contractually prohibited from communicating anything informative. It's not a running debate about PR and marketing, it's a cut-and-dried legal non-disclosure matter.

  • Flagged for trolling.

  • No one is running around saying "give me a buggy game!" We've been told that TT incorporates player feedback between episodes 1 and 2, which is why that gap is always the largest. I don't know enough about that process to suggest ways to streamline it, but we do know that they're not just fixing bugs, they're also changing up stuff that's already functioning. I thought Ep 1 was pretty much flawless, and trust its creators to create similarly excellent subsequent episodes without second-guessing themselves for a few months between episodes 1 and 2. We're not asking for a buggy game, we're asking for improvements to customer communication (not going to happen with this project because of NDAs, but we can hope to influence future games) and a more streamlined ep1-2 process.

I'm in favor of it coming out when it's done. If that's March, then great. I don't want to have a buggy experience when I get it on day 1.

  • Are you sure? I'm danish and I've never heard anything about that, did they find out something further regarding the origins of the story?

We have to remember The Walking Dead is their flagship. I wouldn't be surprised if they have put more workforce on it to get it out as soon as possible after Smoke & Mirrors. But it will come in January though, or it'd start conflicting with the release for The Walking Dead if Telltale stick to their timeframe of 4-6 weeks apart. I'd give January 17 a shot before getting my pitchfork. Like someone else already said here; it'd be logical to release around this Friday. TWD December 17, TWAU January 17, TWD February 17, etc. A pipe-dream, but possible. I'd love to see Telltale showing up with a improvement like this. They might have Smike & Mirrors done already; just waiting for the prefect day to release it to stick within their promised timeframe. This would explain their silence.

From what I can tell it's generally assumed to be written in England. But the story is set in Scandinavia.
