Telltale games always kept their deadlines. The delays started to appear when they started porting the games to consoles. The entire process takes time. My suggestion would be to release the episodes just on PC/Mac and port them on consoles just after all the episodes are released.
The standard Microsoft NDA is really draconian. This is what keeps digital publishers on Microsoft's platforms from sharing release dates until Microsoft releases it themselves (since Microsoft sets the release dates themselves for digital releases on XBLA). They require that companies "Take reasonable security precautions, at least as great as the precautions it takes to protect its own confidential information, but no less than reasonable care, to keep confidential the Confidential
Information." If they disclose that information, they'd be in breach of contract.
Specific updates are just not possible under the current contracts.
Unless you have their contract and actually read it, your statemen… moret is invalid and actually quite beside the point as well. We just want a heads up about what is happening and more importantly why the staff is dead silent about the matter, I mean it is HARD to overlook the biggest thread on their forum. And I seriously doubt their contract changed since december, point in case, puzzlebox was commenting in this very thread and there is a blog post as well, so most probably they are free to talk to their fans more or less about anything they WANT.
I said this above but i will say it again as this is a new page as my comment might not be seen, If the game is delayed for a legitimate reason Telltale need to be honest and let us know what the problem is, If they said "we found a major bug so it could take another week or two to fix" i think people would be more accepting and there would be less rage, This is a good place for everyone to share their opinions and frustrations but i am going to be honest and say i don't think that people getting refunds or signing a petition will make much of a difference to Telltales business practices in the long run.
I am a little bit annoyed by the wait but i am not going to rage and demand a refund as the game will be released eventually, i don't regret my purchase of a season pass and i will buy Telltale's games in the future if they interest me. Slightly off topic but i have been waiting 6 years for the next episode of half life 2 and Valve have not even hinted at a sequel or any news.

At this rate, I'm expecting to see Kenny alive (TWD) before we ever see Bigby again
Maybe we need Kenny fans to start a #teambigby push an… mored post endless "Bigby confirmed for 2014" gifs until TTG's buckles to the power of the godly 'stache....
Be afraid, TTG..... be very afraid. Once the "X confirmed..." gifs start, they cannot be stopped!
(gif by GOUSTTTT, I think...)

I imagine Episode 2 just escaped the office, and that the Telltale staff have been searching behind the walls and drain pipes around the office building to see if it got stuck in there somewhere.
Wait...the episode isn't out yet? Gosh, that's probably the biggest delay Telltale have had. Sorry, but I'm actually shocked. I've been away from the forum for a while and only came back to check for any new info and....really? Ok then Telltale....

I do understand the point you are trying to get across, that is up to a certain point.
Your theory, based upon Telltale's history, is that if episode 2 is released this month, they could get meet the goal on Steam. But there's one word that make that theory crumple. If.
That update was made the 3rd this month, and another update was "coming soon". If we are to judge by past history of TWAU, as you have done with Telltale, we could be looking at a long time. Now, if we were not to, this update would be about this month. Since no staff has claimed this will be a due date for the next game, let's think of it as not the due date. Which means that the due date for next episode, on a bit more firmer ground would be after this month.
Yes, this too is just a theory, but it makes more sense than yours.
Summer ends on September 21st in the Northern Hemisphere, which is where Telltale is located. That's certainly an achievable goal. If episode… more 2 is released this month, that would give them more than 2 months per episode to release the remaining episodes. It's very likely they'll meet that goal judging by their past development history (since, with each season that had a long development period for episode 2, after the second episode had changes made based on fan and critic feedback, each remaining episode was released at a quicker time frame). It's very likely that the remaining episodes will release at around two month intervals (or perhaps even less).
what exactly do you think you will achieve with such statements? do you really think the game gets released faster that way?*
Is getting dumped on okay with you? Being totally ignored is fine? If so, fantastic, enjoy yourself. But I'm not asking for miracles or anything quicker, just a simple honest update. Even if they said it'd be another month, f' fine for Christ's sake. But we don't get that, just silence.
Customer service is what you expect to achieve by doing something like that. Absolute silence for such long periods of time is unacceptable in a situation like this.
So quit with unctuous and dumb questions about what we might expect from this, because what will come of with holding our money from TTG is simple and better quality customer service because we've shown that it's important to us by withholding our money because we didn't receive it.

...If we managed to wait for The Walking Dead: Season Two, I think we're capable to wait for The Wolf Among Us. Remember the horror we went through when we heard the first rumors in October? I for one had been waiting for it since the final episode in the first season.
Episode 2 has been rated by Australia Classification though. That doesn't happen until the game is submitted for approval, which means that Telltale is just waiting for their distribution partners to get back with the release dates (since it's Sony and Microsoft who set the release dates for the episodes, as they control the release of all games on the XBLA and PSN services, only setting aside a release for a certain amount of games per month and only release them on certain days, and Telltale can't release the dates before Sony and Microsoft do due to really draconian standard non-disclosure agreements).
So, as long as Sony and Microsoft announce the release dates for their platforms soon (which I'm sure they will, since the rating shows that the episode has already been submitted for approval), episode 2 will almost certainly be coming out this month.
I do understand the point you are trying to get across, that is up to a certain point.

I think the difference is that TWAU people have already paid for their game, and have no guarantee their investment will reward them any time soon. With the walking dead, while the wait was really bad with almost no news until a week up until release, at least we hadn't already paid. Telltale already have thousands of dollars from people who have bought season passes(On some platforms it is even forced), so we are a bit annoyed lol

I believe you sent me the wrong page, because it came up with an error. No need through, as I live in Australia, and is familiar with my stuck-up government's rules. I'm not blaming Telltale, (only for their lack of communication) and I understand it's the big companies, plus Aust. Gov. shouldn't have thrown too much of a hissy-fit, because what they usually have troubles with is usually easily fixed (for example removing the name morphine from a syringe, making dead bodies disappear etc.). The theory I claim is that EP2 is more likely to be released next month, yes, it seems it is finished, yes it's been rated. But it being about the 15th, (sorry I realised before that the update wasn't this month) it does make you wonder and speculate. That and another update being maybe or maybe not being a release date, because no staff will say anything does make your expectations fall.
Microsoft and Sony may have the final say, Telltale can't say anything about a release date, but those two don't control how Telltale handles it's audience.

This is a big reason why I was behind Sony this gen. Between this, normalizing paid multiplayer, and Xbox Gold being crap compared to PS Plus, I'd much rather support the company that seems to give much better customer incentive and is less harmful for the overall industry.

Not really looking to get on here and complain away. The game is fantastic, I'm excited to play episode 2 and will look for new Telltale games in the future...BUT...I will wait until the game is complete and probably on a Steam Sale to buy it next time. I think that's the real damage this delay is creating for the company, because I doubt I'm alone.
These guys think that way, because Telltale has acted in a way that angers so many people that the "non-buyers" think that in the long run, Telltale will do it again and again. The "non-buyers" get too obsessed at this stage about trying to get Telltale to change their act, that they say stupid stuff. Like someone saying that they're now on a diet, but found later with a donut in their mouth.
You know why they're angry, they bought the game, expecting more, especially when TWD was only once delayed by a few weeks. And you know what? The internet is their place to vent. The forum is a place post your own opinions. Yes, we know they're going to still play Telltale games, but they just feel that bit better that they were heard, kind of believing that they made a difference. Especially on the company's own forums.

A lot of these guys have only played TWAU (myself included), and have already paid for the next episode. TWD S2 seemed like it got more information up to it's release date, and even though a first season episode's hype doesn't compare to a second episode, not to mention that you guys didn't know about the season after you finished the last episode of S1, we only got 2 screenshots. S2 came out before the next episode of TWAU. Are you getting my point? Plus, if you really want to talk about waiting, there's a manga called Berserk that was first weekly I think, then monthly, then longer and longer periods of time came between the chapters, which were about 20-30 pages, and took you a few minutes to read. Silence from the author too.
...If we managed to wait for The Walking Dead: Season Two, I think we're capable to wait for The Wolf Among Us. Remember the horror we went th… morerough when we heard the first rumors in October? I for one had been waiting for it since the final episode in the first season.
Maybe it's like The Hobbit. One episode per year? LOL Just trolling. I know they just want to release a quality product. Heck some games could have used delays cough Arkham Origins cough
Job Stauffer(Director of PR) is absolute garbage at his job. Only on twitter posting stupid shit , not coming here to explain the situtation. I'm sorry but they need to hire better people seriously
Problem is with Mircosoft/Sony. Both of those companies would want TWAU first on their console, and I believe Telltale have signed a contract, so they can't back out now.
Telltale games always kept their deadlines. The delays started to appear when they started porting the games to consoles. The entire process t… moreakes time. My suggestion would be to release the episodes just on PC/Mac and port them on consoles just after all the episodes are released.

Of course they've been working on it for awhile. They've been working on WAU since before they announced it in early 2011. Though writing, casting, recording & character design shouldn't take that long and were probably locked in a long time ago. Sure, it all evolves over the dev time. The casting shouldn't take that long, certainly not the audio recording. Even assuming that they didn't hire the full cast before the first episode was released, which is unlikely, it wouldn't take that long.
Yes, they've probably been working on them for a little while. GoT for at least a couple of months, probably not a year full year yet. The game rights were held by Cyanide, who released a Game of Thrones RPG in 2012, and probably retained them for a time after that. Plus it's doubtful that HBO would have licensed the game rights to multiple video game companies at once. TftB they've admitted started discussions about it on Dec 7, 2012 (date of 2012 Spike VGA).
Those are fairly short dev times for TTG from what I can gather. So no... I don't think they've surely scaled the teams properly and they obviously haven't been working on them for a long time now. My guess? They've been working on them for probably fewer than eight months each. With both releases scheduled for fairly soon, with two titles currently in a release cycle, I wouldn't be surprised if one title is short staffed. Wouldn't be surprised if it was WAU.
Game development is a lengthy process: stories have to be written and revised, actors have to be cast, characters have to be designed, and so … moreon.
We just heard of GoT and "Tales from Borderlands" since the announcement. But they are surley working on 4 titles for a long time now. And they surley have their team scaled properly since the beginning of the development.
That said I don't think that the work on 4 titles at the same time, is the main problem here.
I wouldnt call them garbage, but they should really communicate with their fans. I am looking on their twitter page everyday, how come they have time to answer to the fanpics and some other irrelevant things but cant tell us anything about the delay? I´m 100% sure we will hear from them "Soon".
This is another great theory. Personally, I love the different theories. So much better than the seething hate. You'd think TTG eat their parents or children or dog or something.
As I see it... they've been working on it, in some way or another, since before they announced in back in January 2011. Wouldn't any problems like that have been spotted and changed long before the first episode was released? I would assume that WD/DC/Vertigo/Willingham/whoever would have signed off on the whole script and story before they did all that work & released the first episode. I know they take audience feedback from each episode into account but at most that would be a changed line or two or something visual, not a complete rewrite that could lead to an issue like that this late in the game.
I'm starting to get the feeling that WB or Vertigo asked or demanded a change in Chapter Two (or the entire story) that forced TT to comply, b… moreut because of disclosure agreements/legal reasons, TT cannot tell fans what the delay is about or even give a new estimated release date.
Hope I'm wrong. It was just something that was brewing in the back of my head.
In the meantime, I'll be here, trying to finish Injustice (just won Scorpion! GRIND TIME!).
I wonder if Telltale realise that they are squandering the goodwill of their customers by doing this and hurting their development of future projects. Pre-purchasing a whole season is, in essence, customers helping to finance the game development. And with this, customers have to trust the developers to meet expectations. This trust they are throwing away with every day that Episode 2 is delayed without a word from them.
I certainly will not be buying a whole season until all episodes are out and at a discounted price in future. No more helping to finance their development if this is the attitude they will be displaying.
They might have been told to keep quiet about it, They could be just as annoyed not being able to tell us news as we are about not hearing it and by breaking a NDA they could lose their jobs, Puzzlebox does visit the forums so its not like she doesn't know whats going on in here.

I have already paid for The Walking Dead: Season Two, and I neither don't have any guarantee my investment will reward me. I'm almost sure we'll have a similar wait for TWD like we have with TWAU now once Smoke & Mirrors is out.
Maybe they meant early January 2015...
Comming home with excitement and ending the day with a frustration.
Maybe it's like The Hobbit. One episode per year? LOL Just trolling. I know they just want to release a quality product. Heck some games could have used delays cough Arkham Origins cough
the telltale symptom
Sorry buddy, but Summer 2014 is their goal. Your jokes won't work here.
Season 1 of TWD was delayed by several months.
