I am a true fan of telltale like a lot of people. I will never buy Season Passes again. I will wait for the whole Season to be released and then enjoy the Season with breaks like I want them. 1 Week break between each episode to not let the episodic playtrough die. I think thats the best way to do. Buying the game when released.
I wonder if Telltale realise that they are squandering the goodwill of their customers by doing this and hurting their development of future p… morerojects. Pre-purchasing a whole season is, in essence, customers helping to finance the game development. And with this, customers have to trust the developers to meet expectations. This trust they are throwing away with every day that Episode 2 is delayed without a word from them.
I certainly will not be buying a whole season until all episodes are out and at a discounted price in future. No more helping to finance their development if this is the attitude they will be displaying.
Except they hadn't released the first episode before the delay. WAU has been delayed over a year from the original episode one Q1 2012 date. I think he means biggest delay between episodes... I could be wrong though and he might not mean that at all. In that case never mind this and carry on.
I would much rather have them take their time and release a quality product rather than them rush and release some janky unplayable mess like The Silent Hill HD Collection.

What is stopping them from releasing a quality product on schedule? Why is it a simplistic "4-month interval between episodes but good quality" and "short interval but bad quality"?

Just playing devil's advocate here, but Summer doesn't end until September 22nd. (9/23 is first day of fall). They didn't say until Summer starts, just until summer. So if they released episode 2 in January they would still have eight months to release 3 more episodes, which is easily doable considering their past release schedule.
Also, did they ever say they would release more info in early January? I thought the message just said after the holidays. Technically that would never end, as those holidays could include Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine's Day, etc.
I'd like the game too considering I payed for it, but I have to admit I might be more entertained by watching all of this chaos. I guess some pepole just like to watch the world burn...
If you contact Steam by email, and have your order confirmation number along with a polite explanation why you want a refund, they'll more tha… moren likely give it to you.
One time, I accidentally bought a game not thinking to read whether or not it was for PC or Mac. Well, I bought a PC game, and I have a Mac. I contacted Steam, and they refunded my money within a couple of hours.
Tell Tale is a company, at the end of the day they exist to make money. If they earn the reputation of releasing what is in essence a demo and saying the rest of the game will be released "Eventually" sometime nearly a year after it's release. That's a terrible precedent to set. The game hasn't been delayed 'Just a few weeks' it's been delayed nearly twice as long as their normal 4-6 week release model, it's been over three months! Furthermore, rather than telling the customers that bought the product expecting it to be completed within a reasonable time frame they stay tight lipped while the pot steadily simmers over the sides. This will likely hurt them financially in the long run because let's be honest here, this is likely some people's first purchase (is mine) and having paid a ton of money for what is essentially a demo along with no reason for the delay makes it unlikely that I will purchase something again from them in the future. In a business having consumer good will on your side is very important, if you're perceived as incompetent or incapable of delivering on your promises than that's going to lose you money. Simple as that.
its really funny. all you guys starting to say "i will never buy a game from you again bla bla". what exactly do you think you will achieve wi… moreth such statements? do you really think the game gets released faster that way? i don't understand your intention. because let's all be honest: you don't mean it. of course you don't. if telltale makes a really good game, you will probably buy it. and you definitely won't say to yourself "oh, there was this twau episode back in 2014 that got delayed by some weeks, so i won't buy this super awesome new game now!" sorry, i don't buy it. whenever people complain about a publisher/developer on the internet, they start to say that they won't buy any more games from them. but in reality, they are just angry and don't know how else to put pressure on the developer or whatever.
i can understand your frustration, but only to a certain degree. yes, the game is great and i want to play ep2 aswell. but seriously, do… [view original content]
Come on, Telltale always have this period of total silence just before a game is about to release. The so called radio silence when they're waiting for their partners to agree on a release date. The same thing happend for The Walking Dead: Season Two. But this is the longest radio silence I've ever seen from Telltale though.
There could be a ton of reasons. My guess is they literally can't say anything unless given the ok by WB/DC/Vertigo/Willingham/whoever. It could even be M$, Sony or Valve who are keeping them quiet. Non-disclosure agreements are incredibly common and TTG is working with bigger and more active licenses than they used to. So it's very probable that is why they don't say anything. They just can't.
It does seem very strange that there's just no word at all. Every company I can think of would explain a delay or give updates on progress to avoid the kind of angry fan base they are creating here.
I am really hoping this is sarcasm. I mean, yeah, it's not funny but, hey, at least you tried. If it isn't it's gonna make me sad... really sad.
No I don't know why I bothered posting this either since the above is obviously begging for another banning. Maybe they weren't held enough as a child?
Even if they can't give complex updates for legal reasons, can they really be kept from saying, "Sorry for the wait. We're aware and working hard!" That's not really helpful, but it's better than complete silence. I mean, how can they be sued for saying that?
Its possible it has to do with licensing issues for the Fables property.
If there's any disputes going on there, we'd hear absolutely nothing, which kind of fits with where they are now. At this point I think a production delay is less likely, if that were all it wouldn't be so hush-hush top secret.
Worst case is they lost the license and they're trying to figure out how to handle all the prepayments.
I think the way these licensing options works is that if you don't USE the property within a certain amount of time, you lose it. Since they've already made one episode of TWAU and (apparently) have intentions of making more, and since a completed product is defined as 5 episodes, they're in the clear as far as licensing goes.

The WAU season pass is going on sale today on the PSN. If they lost the license I don't think they'd be doing that. But then again what do I know, it's Telltale.

This is why the delay annoys me. I paid for the season pass right after WDS2 was released (another season pass) and if I'd waited a couple weeks I could have gotten it for less than half of what I paid. That is incredibly annoying. I don't mind paying and waiting to get the episodes as they release. I don't mind paying for access like that, instead of waiting for the full game to release and getting it cheaper. I do have a problem with paying double what others are paying for the same kind of access.

Correct. I don't know people have convinced themselves of the ridiculousness that Telltale has signed some sort of contract that prevents them from acknowledging the existence of the game. Even if they can't say, "Sorry, we're stuck in certification with Microsoft" (which, by the way, I see developers publicly reveal all the time), there's no reason they can't make any statements at all.

"after the holidays" Valentine's day? St Patrick's Day? Halloween? It's two weeks after New Years. I think it's time for at least an update, even if it's not a release.

I think just like you, and I think 90% of the other TWAU-players have that opinion, too, but Telltale kinda doesn't deserve that. They NEED to explain something, they messed up.
Have to say the 'Community and PR Specialist' here could really do their job and post a comment here. Nearly two and a half THOUSAND comments and no explanation as to the delay. Non-disclosure agreements my ass, "Sorry for the delay, we're working hard to ensure the game is as technically robust as it can be on all platforms" would do. There is NO REASON Puzzlebox can't say SOMETHING about the delay.
First and last time I buy in advance from Telltale.
Except most of the second episode was done by the time they released the first one. You can see that when you see the 'Next time on Wolf Among Us' section where it shows most of the places are modeled, voice acted, and animated. So there's really no excuse.

Unless the Fables IP has a new owner since ep1 was released, I'm pretty sure the deal would've been done with Willingham/DC Vertigo and Telltale to create the whole season.
DC to Telltale - "Oh, you wanted to make more than 1 episode? Damn. Well uh, we're gonna have to rethink this..."

You may be right about that one, but I didn't ask for release date. In all honesty I do not know about MS's contracting, but I doubt by saying "Hey guys, we are alive and need a little more patience from You as we run into some issues, thanks for the support!" TTG would breach the contract. Also it is counter-productive for MS as well if the games released on their platforms have a negative feedback, they must know some sort of communication is a must in this industry.
The standard Microsoft NDA is really draconian. This is what keeps digital publishers on Microsoft's platforms from sharing release dates unt… moreil Microsoft releases it themselves (since Microsoft sets the release dates themselves for digital releases on XBLA). They require that companies "Take reasonable security precautions, at least as great as the precautions it takes to protect its own confidential information, but no less than reasonable care, to keep confidential the Confidential
Information." If they disclose that information, they'd be in breach of contract.

IP ban in 3....2....1.....
I know you're upset, but making vulgar insults against someone who already has you marked is not a good idea.

Yeah. There's an argument to be made that we got sold out. This is not the way to make it. You're the one who comes off sounding sub human here.

Yep, they don't have to give details, but just a human acknowledgement would make me feel a lot better.

we are almost half way through January. if they think they can just release it without some explaining, then they're wrong.

I don't give a shit i just want episode 2
I really wish people would stop acting like this is some sort of revolution
Every day I come here hoping for an update. sighs

which year?
I think just like you, and I think 90% of the other TWAU-players have that opinion, too, but Telltale kinda doesn't deserve that. They NEED to explain something, they messed up.
No particular year, maybe just a year that will start SOON.
Geez, mid-January and still not a word. Is the wolf still among us?
My, my Telltale, what big Lies you have. "All the better to screw you with."
Puns aside...this wait is absurd.

Today is the day, I can feel it in my external Carotid Artery.
im getting pissed.
Looking at Telltale's twitter just makes me think that they don't even care about TWAU anymore.
