*No spoilers* I'm sorry but how can Telltale justify...
....making us wait a very very long time for the episode and having it be just one and a half hours long, according to this review:
I mean...come on guys. The waits for TWD were no way near this long, and most of those episodes were longer!
I find this extremely disappointing, especially after the lengthy first episode. I just hope the other episodes aren't just as short.
(as a side note, I assumed Telltale had learnt a lesson about this, seeing as how many people complained about the shortness of TWD episode 5).

Well, it took me one and a half hours to finish the first one too.
It was good anyway, my bet there a much changes from what they planned to give us at first
Well done. But it took most reviewers just over 2 hours so that's what I'm basing it on.
Maybe this one will take you just one hour.
I think it must be either that or diverting resources to TWD.
I haven't played episode 2 yet, but can someone clarify if any of the voice actors changed? Does Georgie still have the same voice as in the first trailer immediately after Episode 1?
Well, it's not really worth continuing to pile on about the long delay. It's over now. Nothing to be done about that. That said, I do have to admit that this episode did feel a tad disappointing to me.
Don't get me wrong. The story, as usual, was great. And I know that most of Telltale's games since The Walking Dead started have been largely conversation driven. But I would've liked to see a little more variety. This episode felt like it was basically just one conversation after another. There wasn't really much meat to what little investigation scenes there were. And the fight with Beast honestly wasn't all that exciting. Especially compared to the Grendel fight in Episode 1 or Clementine's encounter with the bandits in the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 2.
I've seen people suggesting that Telltale moved some scenes around and that may have been part of the delay for this episode. It's possible that that's the case and that this episode happened to suffer somewhat as a result. I'd say it's still better than most other games out there. So I'll just hope that Episode 3 is tighter and more promptly delivered.
lips sometimes not sync, lags in action responding, sometimes a line gets skipped...don't get me wrong, but it has been 4 month. so, yes, People will still complain about that...
Well, one thing is clear. They changed the story direction. Replay episode 1 again and you'll see that the preview for episode 2 has removed some segments that didn't appear in episode 2. Shows how hard it is to write a story really.
Bigby being in wolf form is fine though. That'll eventually be the end-game in episode 5 I think, with more teases of that to come with the scene more fleshed out in the previews.
that was really damn short. i thought after the huge delay we could expect a little bit more. well, i hope with the next episode it gets better - no more delays and please a longer episode (s02ep01 of walking dead was damn short too )!
My Episode 3 preview had Bigby in full wolf mode for one scene.
Yep, and if you look at episode 1's preview for episode 2, you'll see that he's sat down at first? Anyway, in the preview for episode 3, he stands up and we get to see him more clearly.
Have you seen Breaking Bad? Sometimes, they'll show a sequence at the beginning of an episode, fill it in with further episodes and the whole scene isn't revealed until the end of the season. I think that's what telltale are doing here. Afterall, we have a picture of Bigby in wolf form for episode 5.
It's a tease essentially, something we'll gradually get more of in the previews until we get to the proper scene in episode 5 and get the full context.
I have no doubt that people will still complain. I just said it won't be worth it when they do. I mean, could the release of Episode 2 been handled better? Very probably, yes. But it's in the past. So what can one expect to gain by continuing to complain about it short of hoping that Telltale will find a way to travel back in time and get it done faster?
The episode previews are always different from the final release. The Walking Dead was like that too. I'm pretty sure it's just because Telltale makes the preview videos before the next episode is complete. So some things get changed in between.
Basically, nothing they show in the previews should be taken as a guarantee that that's something that will actually show up in the episode.
Just finished playing Smoke & Mirrors and am quite impressed that I want to play it again, lol. I loved every moment and wish it never to end but so far TWAU has greatly been keeping my interest. Took me about a hour and a half to finish. For the first episode it took me about a hour and forty-five minutes. Cannot wait until episode three.
It took me ~1h 30 mins to complete. I want to replay tomorrow. I want to see Dee in interigation chair and be really mean with him. I also wanna open that one door you know.
The play time did seem shorter than ep 1. The quality was fairly comparable for both eps, except lip syncing was a little off at certain points in the second one. My main concern is that the wait time between episodes decreases. I understand hiccups in development happen, just hope it's all sorted out now and that Telltale has founds its rhythm.
I hope it's the latter.
It was definitely much shorter. I'd say around 80 minutes compared to the 130 or so of the first episode.
It was still great, but could have used a few extra scenes and more of a climax.
You have to remember that Telltale wasn't expecting a delay. Most of that time wasn't putting more work into the game, but rather to get the delay sorted out so they can buckle down and release it. For the wait, it was disappointing, but had it been on the normal time schedule and less chaotic, it may would have been a bit better. Shit happens.
So.. You actually thought the delay was to add more content or to make the episode longer? It was obvious that there was a problem and they had to rewrite something or whatever. I wanted a longer episode as well, but with the delay I didn't really expect it to happen..
And btw, it took me a bit over 2 hours to finish.
Yeah, it seemed fairly obvious to me that Telltale ran into some issue--and the delay was spent fixing that, rather than adding more content to episode 2. I'm hoping ep 3 will be a little longer, with higher quality content, and with a smaller amount in between last episode and this one, now that said issue has been supposedly sorted out.
There was a theory about it earlier that they ran into an issue with nudity with iOS. My guess is that they had to try and convince them to allow their game.
Oh, because of that scene in the Puddin and Pie. Maybe.
I came here to discuss the awesomeness that was this episode, you guys ruined it
Shorter? Didnt notice, but im sure it was. I care very little for it though. I loved it.
Two things. They did justify it, they had development issues, it happens. It's just like any other game, it can be delayed, but because it's an episodic title people are bitching. I get it, it sucks when it happens but jeez let it go. It sucks when any game gets delayed and it can happen to anyone. Who knows what happened behind the scenes. Secondly to whomever complained about the shortness of episode 5 of TWD, that episode was perfect. Length doesn't matter, it's quality.
Some scenes have definetely been altered. Lots of the things in the Next Time trailer didn't happen, such as Bigby wolfing out and threatening Ichabod over the Witching Well. Other things seem to have had their emphasis reduced, such as the Beast fight.
All in all the episode felt a little disjointed and shorter than I expected, but the story was still good and the acting and dialogue kept me involved.
One thing I really noticed, however, was the lack of music. Lots of the time there was no music at all. It really detracted from the atmosphere of the episode.
It sucks for TT if they've gone over budget in order to amend the storyline. At the end, I must admit, I was thinking "the end? Already? Really?"
As far as continuity, am I the only one that didn't rip Grendel's arm off and it still showed that I did. They made a point to put " you walked away" and then nothing.
But I ran through this in 60 minutes or less. Defiantly a let down for the lengthy first episode.
Ultimately if this had been the first episode, I WOULD NOT have bought the season pass.
Also probably wouldn't have gone and bought a few of the books. This was defiantly a rush to production if I've ever seen one.
Yep, that was my theory...and the whole scene from the trailer got canceled...who is loughing now
