Telltale Games have always made games based on other licenses - their first game, Bone, was a comic book, as was Sam & Max. Strong Bad was an online show, and Monkey Island was an already existing gaming series.
Their first TV license (if you don't count the CSI games they made) was Wallace & Gromit, which is a series of British TV specials (and a full-length movie), so Game of Thrones won't be their first time adapting a TV show.
Here's the full line-up of games they've made, along with what it's adapted from:
Telltale Texas Hold'em (Original Game) Bone: Out from Boneville/The Great Cow Race (Comic) CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder/Hard Evidence/Deadly Intent/Fatal Conspiracy (TV Show) Sam & Max: Sam & Max Save the World/Beyond Time and Space/The Devil's Playhouse (Comic) Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (Online Cartoon) Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures (TV Show... kind-of) Puzzle Agent: Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent/Puzzle Agent 2 (Original Game) Tales of Monkey Island: (Video Game) Back to the Future: The Game (Film Series) Hector: Badge of Carnage (Original Game, though not their own) Jurassic Park: The Game (Film Series) Poker Night at the Inventory/Poker Night 2 (Original Game... sort of) Law & Order: Legacies (TV Series) The Walking Dead (TV Series) The Wolf Among Us (Comic)
Forthcoming:
Tales from the Borderlands (Video Game) Game of Thrones (Novel/TV Show)

It used to be canon with the comic universe, but after Robert Kirkman went his own way with Lilly's backstory, the game became it's own thing.… more This gives it a bit more freedom, actually, since it is now possible to pull from both the comic universe and the television show universe for the game. Telltale's CEO Dan Connors said they are looking into the possibility for the game's characters to meet the group from the television show at some point.

Actually, the walking dead game is based on comic series.
Umm... You're actually wrong Darth, The Walking Dead is canon to the comics, and is not related to the TV Series.
It used to be canon with the comic universe, but after Robert Kirkman went his own way with Lilly's backstory, the game became it's own thing. This gives it a bit more freedom, actually, since it is now possible to pull from both the comic universe and the television show universe for the game. Really? I thought it just meant that the two Lillys were different people, but that the game was still tied to the comic universe.
