Little guess about TJ's testimony in Episode 2

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

In the Episode 2 when TJ talks about witnessing someone dumping Lily's body, which was glamoured as Snow's body, he give very strange information to wolf. He said someone was saying "stop laughing". If we ask him for the exact word he says "They said, stop laughing at me".

This is really a minor evidence but it made me think for a long time. In what kind of situation can a person who was dumping dead body into the river possibly say "stop laughing at me" to his workmate? just what can make him look so hilarious? dumping Lily's dead body was funny? clearly not.

After long thinking I concluded that if the culprit was wearing donkeyskin for some reason while dumping the body it would be hilarious enough to make his friend laugh. That was the only reason that I could think of with given information so far. Why was he wearing it? How did he get it from toad's apartment? I have no idea.

Still this is just a guess about what might have happened, so I really want to hear more about how everyone think about TJ's testimony. I'd love to hear any opinion about this. Corrections and criticisms are both welcomed.

btw sorry about my grammar mistakes if I have any, this is not my first language :(

What's creepy is that TJ can also say that he didn't actually hear anyone laughing. Which could imply that the culprit's just hearing voices in his head.

hearing voices...yes that makes sense too..
if that's right this culprit looks like pure madman

  • I can't remember the gender TJ uses, is it definitely specified as 'he'?

someone made a thread a while ago suggesting that it was someone with a Split Personality Disorder or something like that, it was called "The Curious case of Ichabod Crane", and they put up some very good points: If it was Crane, it was another side to him. You should look it up, very good idea

He doesn't specify. He says " Someone said 'Stop laughing.'" Then if you ask about the exact words he says. " They said 'Stop laughing at me.'"

    Thanks for the link. :)
Anyway yes, while talking to Toad Jr you can ask him a few more questions. The key questions to ask would be...

    1) Did you hear anyone laughing? No.

    2) What did they say exactly? Stop laughing at me.

This shows pretty heavily that the "laughing" existed only in the mind of the killer.

  • No he didn't specify. That was just my wrong grammar ;( sorry

Thanks for the link and great theory :)
At first I assumed that TJ couldn't hear the laughter for some reason.
But now that I read your thread, your theory appears to make much more sense than mine.
Still I'd like to save my idea about donkeyskin just in case, despite being relatively shaky idea I think it has a point too.

  • Oh no worries, your idea is still very plausible. I mean we're only on episode 2 so who knows what will happen. :)

Hmmmmmmm...Yeah,but didn't Bigby confiscate the donkeyskin as evidence? And Toad didn't really specify it was taken...And,as you said, dumping a body in the river is clearly not a funny matter,so why laugh at his colleague?I dunno,i don't think that's what happened... :/

  • I couldn't really get much from TJ when he was starting to break down, I think the only legitimate thing that could be taken from the conversation was that he heard someone say "Stop laughing at me" (not necessarily with an accomplice). I don't remember anything else apart from the bit about the body

Yeah, once you question him too much he breaks down. For me I only asked two questions and I just let him go instead of asking more.

After playing through multiple times, TJ doesn't really have much other knowledge about it other than, someone said stop laughing and there wasn't any laughing. The rest of the options lead to a dead end of, "I don't know!".

If you ask about the laughing TJ will say he didn't hear any. He only heard someone saying, "Stop laughing at me!"

  • Yeah I was thinking that when playing the episode. who said that could be not be right in the head, disturbed and it might be split personality. It could also be the ginger guy, who people a calling "boy who cried wolf". That guy could have felt humiliated by Bigby and might want revenge.

  • It kinda reminded me of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" where the weasels died from laughter. :P
