I'm hearing a lot of mixed reviews of this game..

is it good? or is it just all the minecraft haters and kids that don't understand why the game is different than mine craft?

I was sort of looking forward to it myself, I enjoyed minecraft and this looked neat.

  • I believe that most of negative reviews are bias af because of Minecraft haters. I've already seen people that haven't played the episode and saying that the game is shit.

  • I have played Minecraft before and I have a general understanding about the world and how the original game is. However, I don't really consider myself a fan of the game. Most of the people who wrote the negative reviews on Steam, for example, are players who simply brought the game, thinking that it is Minecraft. They weren't aware that the game is a point and click game with choices and character interactions set in the Minecraft World.

So, if you are buying this game, don't expect a Minecraft game, because it is not a Minecraft game. It is a point and click adventure game where you are interacting with people and making choices set in the world of Minecraft.

I personally enjoyed this game a lot because I get to experience the interesting world of Minecraft and interacting with characters. As well as making some interesting choices. Oh and crafting my sword, I love my sword. :D

  • It's mostly 7's and 8's and the occasional 6 (which aren't bad scores at all). If you like Telltale and want to sit back and enjoy something more light hearted Story Mode is a wonderful time. I've enjoyed the first episode of Story Mode immensely and I have very little knowledge on Minecraft. Like Dave said above its not a Minecraft game its a telltale game just set in the Minecraft world.

  • For me games are all about fun. And I don't start a game with any other expectation than just that - to have fun. And so far with Minecraft: Story Mode I've had what I looked for. It's derpy, funny - I like the banter (the voices!! <3). Only thing that I do not like about it - is occasional "stupid", "jerk" said by the characters, but then again - it's probably just me who thinks it's uncalled for.
I think the negative reviews could be coming from people who are starting this game with some kind of incredible mod-like Minecraft expectations and this game is definitely not that. It's an adventure. A fun one. At least for me. :)

  • In the 7 range is alright. I suspect some people thought this game was going to be different and were very upset when they realized it.

I mean this definitely isn't my favorite starting episode, and I've played Minecraft for days (days as real life time, maybe even a month), so I can see why people are upset.

People expect a rated R telltale game or something. Its not.
I enjoyed it. Im 30 y/o, i played minecraft for years when i was a bit younger, i still dip my toes into it from time to time. Its nice to have virtual lego's.
I would still objectively say that its the weakest telltale title since before TWD.
That doesn't make it bad, but the writing feels off, the voiceacting feels forced. And i understand its a game for kids and teens, so overacting may be neccessary at points. Still, the plot is bland, the story is bland, the characters are straight from a cartoon. Maybe im not being objective on the cartoon bit... But there you go.

That doesn't keep me from enjoying it however, i take it for what it is, a fun, silly, minecraft adventure.
Will it rival TWD? Ofcourse not. But does it have to? I believe not.

  • Game is okay. Nothing special, but not bad. It is typical TT game, just with minecraft graphics. And there is also some crafting and hack and slash combat.

  • I think it mainly had to do with expectations. Some people hated the idea of MineCraft: Story Mode as soon as it was announced, some bought it thinking it was the actual MineCraft game on Steam so they disliked that they didn't get the game they initially thought they were buying(it pays to read the description and do some research before buying a game), the rest is really all due to opinions I'd say. I have to admit, it feels like MineCraft: Story Mode choices are actually having bigger effects.

  • Don't listen to those stupid kids, they are just people who bought this thinking is minecraft. This game is awesome.

  • I am not a fan of Minecraft, never has been. But my gid I loved this episode! The humor is spot on, the world looks beautiful, engaging story and the characters are very interesting. It was way, way better than I was expecting!
