Thinking about buying it - few questions first.

Hey I'm a longtime Monkey Island fan. I own original versions of all the previous games (let me tell you, getting my hands on an original copy of MI1&2 was not easy). I already played the demo and the humour seemed a bit Sam & Max inspired, but it was fun hearing Guybrush again. I'm seriously considering getting Tales right now, but I have a couple of questions first.

1. I played the Sam & Max episodes and IMHO they were nice but not amazing. What bothered me most about them is the amount of recycled content. You were playing on the same locations for the most part of every game +1 or 2 new ones. Will TOMI feature the same location in every episode?

2. I understand the downloadable episodes feature an online authentication system and I have no problem with that, but will the Collector's DVD feature the same system or rather a normal DVD check? I have a bit of a problem with such strict DRM measures. And not very interested in owning a DVD game that needs to authenticate itself every time and cannot be lended to friends.

if you cant get online, for it to auth, then you get a key, that you can enter in offline, to activate it. internet is not required to play.

Nope! They're not recycling locations at all, at least from what they said. If any location was revisited, I'd assume they'd have a very good reason for doing so. But I wouldn't expect them to be doing it.

For the DVD, you only need to have it in the drive to play. Will never need to authenticate online. :)

    1. Tales is supposed to have different locales in each episode. It is heavily implied that in the fourth episode we will be returning to the first episode's island, but to an area not yet seen on that island. I think you're fairly safe there, at the expense of a few recolored and slightly changed character models.

    2. You're safe here. The DVDs have, I think since Season Two of Sam and Max, been simple disc checks.
