Tales of Monkey island and perfectionism

Hi

I have read thread after thread in this forum and 1 thing hits me: People find everything to complaint about: music, resolution, file size, hardness, not for mac, control of the game, graphic intensive (lol, the whole thread made me laugh), chapters instead of whole game, spanish language etc...

As you can see there are a lot of perfectionists out there. A lot of these complaints is something we have to live with no matter what game you purchase because
A) Its impossible to make a perfect game
B) A perfect game for you, can be unsatisfying for another person
I for one see possible improvements that could be done to almost every single game i play, but i choose to ignore it and continue the play because i know a perfect game doesnt excist!

I know you people think that you should raise your voice and shout out if there are things you dont like because they can improve it later on and it only benefits TOMI. And there is a norm out here in the intertubes that most of the threads being made in the forums, are complaints and negative remarks about a product. I mean, not everyone who enjoys the game rush to forums to write about how good it is, but it seems like its the other way around. Can we change this? I would like to encourage other readers to try to post positive posts and make positive threads next time you visit a forum, no matter what the topic is. Postivity benefit everyone.

Am i the only one who are completely satisfied with the game? Are there anyone out there who wont play the next chapter if they make it similar to chapter 1.

Thank you :)

It probably is that way because Telltale actually listens to our feedback. You are right, that there are a lot of topics complaining about minor issues, but some are actually useful.

Without the "control scheme" discussion we wouldn't have the drag+move mouse controls and no one would understand why there is no point&click.

The "graphic intensive" thread reflects the problems some people have running the game and offers solutions. It is a little bloated, but between the discussions is information that reveals the requirements of the Graphics Cards for certain resolutions and Graphic Levels. People need to know how they can improve their gaming experience, or they will become unhappy customers. There are some with really poor graphics cards wondering why the game doesn't run well. Often they just didn't know the reason for the game running badly and needed some guidance.

I think it would be a good idea if there were an faq, because people repeat the same questions and answers over and over again.

I also liked everything about the game and i am looking forward to playing chapter 2.

I'm sorry I didn't read much of your comment but this caught my eye and I just had to interrupt - LeChuck's Revenge = Perfect Game

    Okay never mind.

I somewhat disagree. It should be common sense that a 32 mb Graphic card that came out 5 years ago would struggle with a 2009 game. Especially if they read the system requirements that is written where they purchased the game. Telltale doesnt need to babysit people who dont know basic computing. Thats where your FAQ come in. I totally agree that telltale should make a thoroughly FAQ that answers most questions. Advanced questions such as graphic card driver questions is perfect for this forum. But what i dont like is negative remarks about the game itself.

I sure as hell didn't think MI2 was a perfect game. It was great, but I thought it was way too hard and the ending was very anti-climactic and disappointing. This is going to be blasphemy in this forum, but I liked it even less than EMI. There, I said it. Now I'm going to be flamed to hell.

I never think of a game in those terms. it's fun or not. I've been playing Bionic Commando on 360, that game has gotten so frustrating that it's not fun. TOMI is really fun. I don't mind people picking it apart, it's interesting. I was reading the thread about the lack of live instruments, and I thought it was a good point. I understand the need for real gamers to pick apart games and I bet it's cool for the people who make the games to read it. I also think that 99% of these people liked the game. It's mostly constructive criticism. I think it's healthy. Also, I'm new to this game but I understand alot of people love this series. My favorite film is Blade Runner. If they made a sequel I'd be very critical, so i kind of understand it.

You have the right to your opinion and don't deserved to be flamed to hell. However I also have the right to severely disagree with your opinion, even as someone who likes EMI. >_>

True enough. If you want a game which is perfect for you, you'll have to make it yourself. Which leads to A)...;)

Still, it's not only allowed to tell others what you didn't like, it's necessary. If Telltale doesn't get anything but "Great!" "Perfect!" or "Best game eva!" they can't improve. There's always something which could be improved.

On the other hand, I don't understand the pointless complaining and whining. If it was so horrible - why the heck did those whiners finish the game the day it was available?

Constructive criticism is the magic word here.
