PC Lag,Slow Mouse,Pauses In Sound?

I just bought all 5 episodes and when I start at the main menu of the game,it's immediately laggy and my mouse is slow. I thought it would fix itself once the game started but it didn't and I put up with it until the lagging actually screwed up that moment where I had to catch the stun baton. I don't want to play the game until I can fix this,so is there any advice how I can stop the lagging? This is the PC/Mac version by the way,and the program is on Windows 7 on an Acer laptop. Any advice is appreciated.
