It's $10. You can mow lawns or rake leaves or shovel snow to make $10.
If you really can't wait, I'd say play another game if you've played MI1 and MI2 multiple times. As fun as MI is, they get stale if you replay them too much without enough time in between. I'm talking years. Wait until you could afford it anyway.
I completed MI1 a few months ago and I was going to get into MI2 until the recent monkey revolution came about, now I'm going to play the special edition and wait and see if they revamp MI2.
I can't imagine they'll ever do a revamp of MI2... the art is great as-is, if a little pixelly. I've been replaying it ever since I finished ToMI ep1, and thinking about how much work it would be to remake it. There's so much dialogue it would take forever to record it all... every book in the library, the pirates on the Scabb beach singing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" and restarting at whatever random number Guybrush calls out... and "Nice <whatever object you're looking at>." times 1000. If I were Dominic, I'd go crazy. Maybe they'd figure out a way to cut down on the dialogue LOOM-style.
Fixed? I'm sure it sucked to be you when it was announced that LucasArts remade The Secret of Monkey Island while you were working on a voice pack, but for everyone else it was a great thing. Putting how much you hate the special edition in your sig and being bitter over it isn't productive for yourself. It also isn't anything I'm really excited to read in the forums. I'd venture I'm not alone in this view.
Really considering the implications it has for the adventure genre hating it is pretty selfish.
If you have actual criticism as to why the original poster should not play the remake other than "they screwed my project" go ahead and post it. Considering it costs ten dollars, features new graphics and new voice over from the classic actors I can't see a reason to NOT play or buy it if you're a Monkey Island fan - if only for the reason to encourage LucasArts to get back in the adventure genre and do more things like Tales of Monkey Island.
Honestly you're coming off obnoxious whenever you address this issue. Yes, LucasArts killed interest in your mod. It was sad. We feel bad for you. Don't troll the Special Edition because of it.
EDIT: Whoa, this post is overkill. Sorry I get cranky if I don't go to bed earlier. My apologies.

And iMuse sound system would be very hard to make work as well with digitized music. Hopefully they still have the art for the backdrops intact somewhere, so they don't have to hand paint it all again!
But I think that a remake of MI2 is almost a given as it would be probably the only adventure from Lucasarts without a full talkie version.
A bit off-topic: now that Lucasarts loves adventures again, wouldn't it be great that they give all the code they probably still have of the cancelled Freelance Police to Telltale, so they can use it for Sam and Max Season 3?

Hope the euro/dollar conversion method will not be 1 $=1 € ! For example, on the european Playstation store, they do this conversion !
