A manual...

What I'd really love to see would be a beautifully designed manual for the game with all the keys explained and so as a pdf for now and later on in a high glossy print. Is there such a thing or at least will it be there at some point?

Cheers,
Red

Maybe it'll come with the DVD.

    I dunno about a manual.

I've read some very witty and funny manuals that someone has obviously put a lot of thought and effort into (and usually for adventure games). But making something like that means moving effort away from the game itself.

Whereas if it was badly written then what would be the point?

That said, there's a lot to be said for in-game manuals.

I don't think any of Telltale's DVDs have come with manuals yet, and it's hard to justify it when the majority of the DVD buyers have already played the game.

The retail version (hopefully coming from LucasArts) should have something, that's for sure.

I have manuals in both Sam&Max season DVDs.

    Wait, really?

...huh. Just opened up my DVDs. Never paid much attention to those inserts, I guess. It's just two pages, but I suppose it's there!

Wasn't there a credit for someone writing a manual in the end credits? That might be for the XBLA release, but anyway.

    :edited
Not the XBLA release, because there isn't one, I meant the wii, the wii! Sorry I just spaced and was thinking about Wallace and Gromit for some reason.

I think he's looking more for the game-art-in-the-backround type of manual.

Emily wrote the text for the Wii Shop manual but the game itself hasn't got one. It's hard for us to justify the printing cost on more than a couple page insert.

I think you could have found some way to tell us that holding down SHIFT allowed us to run. I didn't figure it out till the end of the game. :(

I think a PDF would do perfectly. And anybody who wanted a printed version (like myself) could do so themselves. Or you could create something really beautiful and sell it separately...

Maybe someone has discovered the details and written a walkthrough on these games. I must say that after playing a little of TOMI and W&G's first episode I am quite disappointed that neither plays anything like all S&M episodes and so far I'm quite lost exploring around. Not only do I need clues (I have the option turned up for both games) but don't know how to get the clues, but I don't know what commands are at my disposal.

For the manual, do you want something like this:

    http://www.telltalegames.com/wallaceandgromit/controls

but for ToMI and in a pretty-fied PDF?

I'm sure someone with some free time could knock one up :) The list of ToMI Control options has been discussed elsewhere on these forums, have fun finding it :)

I've had a nice manual in my Sam&Max Season One DVD, but I think it's The Adventure Company, JoWooD or Nobilis more than Telltale who did it.

Call it manual or something else, but .pdf or .txt file which would have explained all game controls, keyboard short cuts etc. would have been nice.

I agree. Some control options were found by mere coincidence.

It's the run button for almost all 3d games, so I suppose they figured people would just know.

Maybe we could start collecting some information about the controls for now.

Here's what I know so far:
    WASD, LMB+Drag: Walk
Shift (when walking with WASD), RMB (when walking with LMB), Double Click LMB: Running
    RMB during Talk: Skip Line
Mousewheel (in Inventory): Select inventory item
    Tab, I, MMB: Inventory
E (in Inventory): Switch to Examine mode
    F4: Highlight hotspots
    Space: Pause
    Escape: Menu, Skip Cutscene

    What else do we know?

Why did you make it so flat, dull, and blurry?
  • edited July 2009
Because I wanted to clean it up later and add the necessary gradiants, but figured the current version would be better than nothing.
